He was a beast, but this announcement was expected two seasons ago when he signed with Zona. He’s declined due to age and wear and tear, his contact is up and he would not get paid well if he continued to play. Better to tip his cap now and walk away than have to do it in the off-season after seeing the modest one year contract offers.

Agreed. Woods (DC) and Priefer (STC) will likely be fired though.

Spotrac estimates Jacob’s’ market value at 4 yrs, $48,627,484. Link He’s not signing for $4M-$5M/season.

I’m sure you can understand why the reason the NFL gave publicly was one that allowed them to disavow responsibility for the mistake.

The continued ineptitude by NFL and Dolphins is crazy. No coach in his right mind would want to put a concussed player back on the field. Tua’s stats pre and post concussion tell one reason why. Short and long term health impacts are another. But the NFL continuing to screw this up is even more shocking. As focused as they are on optics, missing this is unacceptable. Remember that they fired the doc that missed it last time. Now the replacement misses the same guy bouncing his head off the ground. Wow!

Where was the best hamburger you’ve ever ate?
BarleyNY replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
I make burgers two ways at home and both yield excellent results: 4 oz smash burgers on a cast iron plancha in my BGE at 600F. 80/20 or 85/15 works well. Great for beef that is tightly compressed in packaging. Wagyu from Costco is my go to if I don’t have a cow from a local farmer. Getting my next 1/2 cow in January. 6-8 oz (and up) cooked sous vide at 133F for an hour (or more), then seared on the BGE at 600F (min). Great for more loosely ground beef. 85/15 is perfect, but I don’t like anything fattier done this way. It’s difficult to say what was the best burger I had out. A lot of places do good or even very good burgers, but few do great ones. Giancarlo’s had an excellent one, but they recently took it off the menu. Five Guys is my go to around Buffalo if I need a quick burger fix. -
I’m convinced that the networks are making the announcers dumb down everything for the masses. Herbie didn’t used to be like this. It’s like Chris Collinsworth is giving classes to every announcer - and they’re mandatory.

Tampa Police: arrest warrant issued for former Bucs WR Antonio Brown

I agree. There’s other stuff he has done that could’ve landed him in jail. -
Tampa Police: arrest warrant issued for former Bucs WR Antonio Brown
BarleyNY replied to T&C's topic in The Stadium Wall
From the linked article: According to officials, the 34-year-old is wanted for battery after a verbal altercation at a home in south Tampa on Nov. 28. The warrant states that the incident became physical when the suspect threw a shoe at the victim. Officials also said in the warrant that the suspect attempted to evict the victim from the residence and locked her out of the home. I think AB is totally nuts, but no prosecutor was going to do much with a thrown shoe that missed. I saw that video. That was beyond messed up. Had to be his money that got him out of that one. -
Colts are benching Ryan. Foles to start the rest of the year.
BarleyNY replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the incredible amount of money QBs like Ryan make are keeping some around longer than they’d otherwise want to play. That sure looks to be the case here. (I’m sure other will walk early after making enough to set themselves up for life.) The Colts have made obvious mistake after obvious mistake at QB since Luck. Ryan, Wentz, Rivers and even Brissett. What they paid and traded for that lot is ridiculous. Still, screw them for tanking for Peyton and Luck. They deserve this. -
Diggs throwing his helmet and asking for the ball more
BarleyNY replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. Sometimes this goes with the elite WR who wants the ball territory. It is what it is. -
Many years ago I was at a Steelers game and he was standing about 20-30 feet from where I was walking. I usually leave celebrities alone and did on that day, but it was cool to see him up close. He was taller than I expected. RIP Mr Harris.

Do Zubas get more comfortable after washing? Do they ever actually get comfortable? On the rack they feel awful. Considering buying a pair as a Christmas present, but don’t want to saddle someone with something that feels terrible to wear.

Fields is literally the only Bears player worth worrying about. It’s the NFL and anything can happen on any given Sunday, but that is the territory we are in.

Love the dolphins forum - Bills won because of the refs?
BarleyNY replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yup. And when refs are inconsistent then fans can always find a call or two to blame the loss on. Heck, fans do that even on the occasions the refs call a good game. -
Early in his career, certainly. But as much as people rip on him, he’s improved quite a bit as a passer in the last couple seasons. Franchise QBs are too valuable to kick one who has been as successful as he has to the curb without being sure. If they do want to move on, then there won’t be a shortage of trade partners.

I think there might be a rub with Roman and his offense too. I don’t think Lamar likes playing in it and I don’t think the Ravens are 100% confident that Jackson will do as well in something more like the majority of NFL teams run. I think the Ravens would be best served to have Jackson play under the tag and under a new OC next season if I am correct. I don’t see Roman staying In Baltimore much longer anyway and the team should get a good read on how Lamar does under the new OC before paying him.

Mike White is not a good QB. He’s probably better than Zach Wilson, but he’s not good. I was at the game and then watched the All 22. White’s coaches do not trust him at all.

Updated Beasley signing to practice squad
BarleyNY replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
He had slowed down even when he was here a couple seasons ago. Like most savvy players he could still beat zone coverage, but like most players his age he couldn’t beat man. I get that he doesn’t have the wear and tear of much of this season on him so he might have a little something in the tank. That makes him worth a look. But he couldn’t cut it in Tampa and the value of a sure handed SWR working short routes is low in today’s NFL so I’m not expecting much. -
Updated Beasley signing to practice squad
BarleyNY replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t know how much a 33 year old SWR whose only real contribution at this point would be finding the holes in zone coverage is going to help us. But then again, he always had good hands. It’s depressing that he could reasonably be an upgrade to our WR corps. -

I have no idea why Joe Flacco is still playing professional football. You might think the $3.5M he’s making this season would be worth dragging his 38 year old ass out there to play, but not when you realize he already made $171M. -

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I might hate listening to Troy Aikman talk more than I hate listening to Chris Collinsworth talk. It could be because I’m currently listening to Aikman. Next time I hear Collinsworth it’ll probably switch back.
