  1. I still don't buy the CMC interest. We aren't a running team. We aren't going to be a running team. And it's not like the line is going to suddenly run block better for CMC.
  2. When you don't hear a corner's name (outside of an interception) that's usually a good sign.
  3. Even after Shakir has a notable impact on the game in the final minutes, two key conversions and a great block to spring Singletary on the last drive, we're having this conversation? Just keep rolling with what we got. Shakir and Hodgins. Get Morris more involved. No need for knee jerk reactions.
  4. Someone will die and then they will put a roof on the stadium covered in solar panels and pitch it as the NFL going carbon neutral.
  5. So not the 24 points we don't score... but one 3rd and 22... which by the way, we also completed a similar 3rd down conversion and the Phins seemed to recover...
  6. Players could not execute today. Nothing to do with coaching. We had multiple, multiple opportunities to win this game. Milano drops a pick 6, Gabe Davis drops a TD, Allen skips a pass to a wide open McKenzie which would've been a TD, Bass misses a field goal... that's 24 points right there. And if that's not enough McKenzie for some reason decides to stay in bounds with no time outs left which would've set up a game winning field goal chance. Not sure how all that equates to "coaching."
  7. I mean you watch your receiver stay in bounds with an opportunity to get out...
  8. He's made some splash plays but his play in the run game is why Beane has not extended him a contract offer. Just is what it is at this point. With his athletic ability he should be dominant in both phases of the game at this point in his career. Like I said in the chat, plays in the backfield should be more common, because he has the ability. It's the reads that he struggles to make. Henry's touchdown run is something you'd like to see him diagnose and at least be near the ball, not patting his lineman on the back. His overall play is still average and he's going to need a whole season of good games.
  9. A fumbled snap and botched hold from losing to USF. Richardson looked like complete garbage again. The pressure of being labeled a top pick in the draft has clearly broken him mentally. I'm anticipating a shelacking by Tennessee and a QB change when Miller is healthy. Naipier needs to recognize Johnson and ETN are the two best offensive players we have and lean heavily into the run game.
  10. 3rd down and the red zone is really where you figure out what what kind of player you have at the QB position. The scheme can be successful, certainly. I just don't see Tua making the kind of elite throws you see Mahomes, Allen, Herbert or Burrow making. That leaves a team like the Phins on the outside looking in.
  11. Watched a couple third downs from that game. One Tua threw for 5 yards on 3rd and 11, the other he air balled it to no one. There was another longer passing play where he skipped the ball about 6 yards short of the receiver. His receivers make some great plays after the catch.
  12. Here's hoping AR15 can pull his head out of his ass and make some plays this week. Really hate losing to Kentucky.
  13. Makes perfect sense with NIL deals, etc. Little cash goes a long way to pull better players. Transfer portal helps also. Good player sitting on a bench somewhere can end up starting for a different school he may not have considered coming out of high school.
  14. Not sure who this is for but I'm speaking of play calling, not design. The strategy and tempo is all being handled by Ken. There are only so many plays so I don't think modern OCs can be given credit for actual play design, everything is derivative in a 100+ year old sport.
  15. It was "too soon" hot take. But I mean, all through preseason and then into last night the play calling just looked different. Way more screens, shorter routes. I think the difference is that Ken seems to build up to shot plays. Gets the defense in close, spreads them out horizontally and makes them respect the edges. The big play to Davis where the Rams incorrectly guessed short pass and brought pressure was built up to. Gave Allen an extremely favorable look and we know the results. Allen's completion percentage speaks to this. He was being given high percentage throws all night.
  16. Was getting mocked in the shoutbox but I still think Ken is a big improvement over Dabol from a play calling standpoint. I guess we will see what it looks like in more adverse situations to pass final judgement but it just seemed like more of a pro offense. More screens, runs on first down. Just made more sense. No whacky gadget plays.
  17. Phillips is a great pass rushing DT. I don't know about being better than Oliver but I know one thing, I was definitely right when I said it was dumb for Beane to let him go originally.
  18. These threads are fun. Just FYI, if you actually watched the game last night, you'd have seen Elam in on obvious passing situations. The concerns with Elam are in the run game. Once we were up 14, Elam was on the field more and more. Taron was also out there, Jackson was out there. Coverage by committee.
  19. He got treated as the starter, as did Singletary and Moss. All 3 will play roles in this offense this season so not sure why it's surprising to see little of any of them. It's no secret the coaching staff wants all 3 healthy entering week 1.
  20. One of the most embarassing things I've seen in a football game. I think the players can kind of sense when their coach has no idea what he's doing and a call like that solidifies it.
  21. I'm just wondering how Blackshear and Hodgins AREN'T on the team. Remember when Beane and McDermott almost made this mistake with Gabriel Davis? I understand the running back position is undervalued but in this offense, having a stable of wide receivers who can get it done in the event something terrible happens you'd think would take priority. Hopefully he catches on somewhere else, not in our division.
  22. A manogram is an important yearly checkup at Sandusky's age.
  23. I wasn't implying he is often injured, I was illustrating that in year like this, where it's Super Bowl or bust, you don't want John DiGorggio out there if the worst was to happen to Edmunds. Depth is extremely important in a 20 game season.
