  1. I'm not so sure that he couldn't remain a rotational player in this system. He's been plagued by injuries and maybe that continues, maybe it doesn't. But I don't think there's enough compensation out there to warrant trading him.
  2. So we want incomplete passes? I'm confused.
  3. Considering most of what Whaley built was jettisoned before the season started...
  4. You can say whatever you like, whether or not it's right is an entirely different story. When GOOD QB's extend plays, they get guys open because they are looking downfield. When Tyrod "extends a play" he's usually turning his back to the receivers to loop out of the pocket. While he's doing this he's missing any chance he has to find one of those openings that happen down field. Cover 1 went over the Jags game and there were a lot of opportunities that were missed. Tyrod would be a much different QB if he had pocket presence and stepped up when teams rush the edges to keep him contained. But if it hasn't happened yet it isn't going to happen.
  5. Even if you're a casual and watch some of Allen's "all the throws" videos on Youtube you can see how awful he can be. One play he'll throw a laser 20 yards down field and then the next he's throwing 3 yards short into the dirt on an 8 yard dig. Mayfield is way too risky. He was already struggling against Georgia to stay in the pocket and make his reads. The guys only get bigger and faster at the NFL level and he'll end up like Tyrod, running from pressure and turning his back to the play except coverages don't breakdown in the NFL like they do in college. I'm going to have to go with Rudolph if he's available at 21. He's very much a Cousins type of QB. He's not flashy but he has the athleticism and arm strength to play at the next level. His knocks are more about where he plays than how he plays I think. There are really only two great QBs this year, the rest will be a crap shoot. If you get a good one out of the rest it will be more about luck than anything. And Darnold/Rosen will go 1 and 2 so here's hoping that whoever the Bills pick we finally get lucky.
  6. Hogan, Woods and Goodwin say your post is worthless.
  7. Well when you turn your back on a play and run to one side of the field or the other, you're already giving the defense half the field to cover. And when you finally do release the ball, most of the routes have ended and it's just guys running around. And when the only guy you'll throw to is stopped with a DB closing in... No one has learned anything on this board. We've seen a bunch of receivers leave here and become successful elsewhere but we'll just keep blaming the receivers. It's worked wonders I'd say.
  8. Darnold and Rosen go 1 and 2, keep dreaming. Better hope Rudolph can adapt at the NFL level.
  9. Trent was good when he threw. He was a pure passer. But he was just as scared to throw as Tyrod is.
  10. I don't know what the NFL can do but man, you'd like to see something done about a player getting choke slammed onto the turf like that. That was way beyond just a tackle.
  11. Turnovers are a luck thing, not a skill thing. Otherwise every team would have multiple turnovers a game. You are assuming he throws picks against us but maybe he doesn't. Then what? The offense sucks. Too many games with 3 points this year. No other team would be talking about "Bortles beat us with his legs." They would've won the game only allowing 10 points.
  12. Sorry but I'll take Bortles running for his life over Bortles passing all over the field. He starts throwing, we start playing that soft zone and then Fournette starts running all over us. The gameplan was perfect, you can't expect a better performance from the defense than what you got today. The offense sucked, just like it sucked against Carolina earlier in the year, losing 9-3.
  13. You put a spy on him, you give him more time in the pocket and an opportunity to find the open man. Unlike Tyrod, Bortles has proven that he can beat you through the air sometimes. The defense yielded 10 points on the road in the playoffs. Bortles running for 80 yards was not the difference in the game.
  14. He gets lots of credit for not throwing picks but leads the league in 3 and outs. Punts are turnovers too.
  15. EJ was picked for reasons we will never know.
  16. Definitely not worried about a rookie starting. We won a game with a wide receiver playing QB and went 9-7 despite multiple terrible games from our 7 year vet. Almost any other QB would've had us at 10-6 and would've won that game today.
  17. Getting to the playoffs or even 9-7 without playoffs in a year where the hot take was the team was purposely tanking? I'd say it was a great year for a first year head coach. We're a QB away from winning that game today. Trending upwards for sure.
  18. 21. Mason Rudolph 22. Josh Allen (LB Kentucky)
  19. 1. QB (first round pick and vet free agent) 2. DE (need a real threat on the end, Shaq plays the run and Hughes is extremely over rated)
  20. His lack of arm strength was pretty apparent on that last pass. He's certainly got the mind and the character to play at this level but his arm isn't good enough. Yea, everyone knows every successful QB is selected first overall...
  21. The NFL needs to move on to the college ways. These types of plays need to be reviewed and if intent is obvious the offending player is ejected from the game. That tackle was hard to watch.
  22. Lucky for us, he's one of the worst in the league so it won't be hard to upgrade. A lateral move like Alex Smith? You're mental. Tyrod makes Alex Smith look like Dan Marino.
  23. Passing: 2015: 28th 2016: 30th 2017: 31st See the trend? For reference- Rushing: 2015: 1st 2016: 1st 2017: 6th This was Tyrod's worst season yet, statistically... by 200 yards... he's always been this way, the run game just isn't as good under Dennison.
  24. The thing that really gets me about Tyrod is that, at times, he looks great. The 1st quarter of the Dolphins game he was on fire, on pace for a 300 yard game and then... His biggest flaw is that he is unwilling to step up into the pocket or slide in the pocket. When things get hairy, he turns his back to his receivers and circles out of the pocket rather than stepping up or sliding over. Not only does that hurt him in the pass game but also his ability to run for big gains. If he steps up and he has man coverage and a running lane, that's a 10 - 20 yard rushing play rather than running backwards 10 yards before getting sacked or gaining 5-6 yards on a 10-20 yard run. Most teams play contain against him to keep the edges sealed and if he could just somehow convince himself to step up as that edge rush goes by...
  25. I figured the guy who calls Riveron up in the both also called this guy and suddenly the Pats part of the article was incomplete.
