  1. We all know Tyrod would've checked that ball down.
  2. To build a successful team, I feel that you need a play maker or difference maker at 6 key positions. QB DE LB WR/TE CB LT These are the positions you have to have great players to remain consistently successful. It will be interesting to see how the Bills move forward in the off season to address the massive holes at the first three of these positions. We all know that the QB position will be addressed, possibly in free agency and the draft. Alex Smith, Kirk Cousins, Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford all potentially available in free agency. With Darnold and Rosen almost locked in as picks 1 and 2, we'll see Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph as all potential first round picks. Defensive end needs a massive infusion of talent in the off season as well. The zone cover scheme relies greatly on the front 4 getting pressure on the QB and 29th in the league in sacks just doesn't cut it. I could see a a free agent come in as well as a first or second round pick. I think a mid tier guy like Connor Barwin is probably more likely than a big signing like Ansah or Clayborn considering that we run a rotation. Arden Key from LSU might be the right kind of pick at 21 or 22 depending on how his interviews go. Linebacker will be the most interesting position in OTAs. Milano played great this year. Brown led the league in tackles but is a free agent. And Alexander was typically out of his element. Josey Jewell fits what McDermott would be looking for in middle backer to lead the defense, but will he be around late in the first? Nigel Bradham will probably be the best available outside linebacker in free agency, interestingly enough. What does everyone think we do? And with Benjamin/Clay, White and Dawkins/Glenn at the other key positions, what would you like to see added, if anything, in those areas?
  3. How many were right in his hands that he dropped? I recall maybe 10. 80% of the passes thrown his way were uncatchable. Probably hurt himself reaching for one of those awful passes from Byrod.
  4. He walked, he wasn't fired. And notice that the Jags made a big jump when Coughlin got involved. That's the guy we should've handed this team over too, not St. Moron.
  5. I'll hold back any judgement on the hire until I see what happens on the field but his history isn't promising. Doesn't mean he's a bad coach I guess but after sitting through Dennison's offense all year I guess I was hoping for a college guy to come in and provide some ingenuity. Daboll was not the name I was expecting to see.
  6. Offense ranked last, 20th, 31st and 29th... Yeesh...
  7. I believe that it is important to find a back in the offseason. But I don't want a Shady replacement, I want a Karlos Williams replacement. Someone that is big and powerful and plays as a compliment to Shady. Tolbert and Dimarco can't be 2 and 3, it's complete nonsense.
  8. Two things I would like to see. A- Blue jerseys and red pants. B- I would like our throwbacks to be the 90's uniforms instead of the dead buffalo.
  9. What game are you watching? Darby has given up quite a few big passes.
  10. I'm not so sure that he couldn't remain a rotational player in this system. He's been plagued by injuries and maybe that continues, maybe it doesn't. But I don't think there's enough compensation out there to warrant trading him.
  11. Considering most of what Whaley built was jettisoned before the season started...
  12. You can say whatever you like, whether or not it's right is an entirely different story. When GOOD QB's extend plays, they get guys open because they are looking downfield. When Tyrod "extends a play" he's usually turning his back to the receivers to loop out of the pocket. While he's doing this he's missing any chance he has to find one of those openings that happen down field. Cover 1 went over the Jags game and there were a lot of opportunities that were missed. Tyrod would be a much different QB if he had pocket presence and stepped up when teams rush the edges to keep him contained. But if it hasn't happened yet it isn't going to happen.
  13. Even if you're a casual and watch some of Allen's "all the throws" videos on Youtube you can see how awful he can be. One play he'll throw a laser 20 yards down field and then the next he's throwing 3 yards short into the dirt on an 8 yard dig. Mayfield is way too risky. He was already struggling against Georgia to stay in the pocket and make his reads. The guys only get bigger and faster at the NFL level and he'll end up like Tyrod, running from pressure and turning his back to the play except coverages don't breakdown in the NFL like they do in college. I'm going to have to go with Rudolph if he's available at 21. He's very much a Cousins type of QB. He's not flashy but he has the athleticism and arm strength to play at the next level. His knocks are more about where he plays than how he plays I think. There are really only two great QBs this year, the rest will be a crap shoot. If you get a good one out of the rest it will be more about luck than anything. And Darnold/Rosen will go 1 and 2 so here's hoping that whoever the Bills pick we finally get lucky.
  14. Well when you turn your back on a play and run to one side of the field or the other, you're already giving the defense half the field to cover. And when you finally do release the ball, most of the routes have ended and it's just guys running around. And when the only guy you'll throw to is stopped with a DB closing in... No one has learned anything on this board. We've seen a bunch of receivers leave here and become successful elsewhere but we'll just keep blaming the receivers. It's worked wonders I'd say.
  15. Darnold and Rosen go 1 and 2, keep dreaming. Better hope Rudolph can adapt at the NFL level.
  16. Trent was good when he threw. He was a pure passer. But he was just as scared to throw as Tyrod is.
  17. I don't know what the NFL can do but man, you'd like to see something done about a player getting choke slammed onto the turf like that. That was way beyond just a tackle.
  18. Turnovers are a luck thing, not a skill thing. Otherwise every team would have multiple turnovers a game. You are assuming he throws picks against us but maybe he doesn't. Then what? The offense sucks. Too many games with 3 points this year. No other team would be talking about "Bortles beat us with his legs." They would've won the game only allowing 10 points.
  19. Sorry but I'll take Bortles running for his life over Bortles passing all over the field. He starts throwing, we start playing that soft zone and then Fournette starts running all over us. The gameplan was perfect, you can't expect a better performance from the defense than what you got today. The offense sucked, just like it sucked against Carolina earlier in the year, losing 9-3.
  20. You put a spy on him, you give him more time in the pocket and an opportunity to find the open man. Unlike Tyrod, Bortles has proven that he can beat you through the air sometimes. The defense yielded 10 points on the road in the playoffs. Bortles running for 80 yards was not the difference in the game.
  21. He gets lots of credit for not throwing picks but leads the league in 3 and outs. Punts are turnovers too.
