  1. I think anyone that knew Allen, knew these were the types of things he has to learn and that's why he should've been treated as the starter from the moment he stepped in the building. All those shared reps with a journeyman and an interception machine have put him behind the sticks, so to speak.

What is giving McCoy 20+ touches a game really going to accomplish when the line is as bad as it is? He isn't the type of back that can run between the tackles. He spends too much time in the backfield for this line to provide him the gaps he's looking for. Plus he's already banged up so I don't think that was going to be the answer versus Green Bay.

What really needs to be developed in this offense is the screen game. Getting the ball out to McCoy when he's already in space. Quick hitters to guys like Foster and Ray Ray. This is going to be how this offense gets going. Allen's lack of recognition and the line's inability to maintain their blocks, it's the only solution I see at this point. The inside of our line is the weak link. If you can spread a defense out, get them out of the box and out of the middle of the field, it may start to open up some draw plays and counters.

Play action passing is in effective when you can't run the football and without an effective play action, these long routes and slow developing plays will never have a chance. So if you can get a quick passing game going, give McCoy some space in the running game, THEN you can start looking downfield and over the middle. But right now, teams know the only thing you have to do is blitz the rookie and cover deep.

The story addresses many of those issues. It's about more than just a quarterback. It's about a philosophy  geared to winning. Read the story. You might not sound so stupid.

The story doesn't address an issue that hasn't happened yet. They still win. The question was what happens when Brady isn't there and the wins aren't such a sure thing. The only person here that sounds like an idiot is you. But that's what happens when you have a low IQ and can't contribute to a discussion in any meaningful way.

Im getting the same feeling i had last week when i said Allen would have a big day in the gameday first half thread and also took him in fanduel. This week i see KB coming up big and proving all his critics wrong. So the question is if he shows out this sunday will those same haters eat their on words..

You have to be good to have haters. Right now he just has a bunch of people stating facts about him.

  4. It's easy to be this way when you win. It's easy to win when you have the best QB in football for almost 2 decades. Look at how successful Saban is in college. His mantra and style is almost identical to Belichick. But when he came into the pros he didn't have the clout to go with his process and it was a mess from the beginning. Do players tolerate Bill when Brady is gone and the results aren't such a sure thing anymore?

    This.

And a lot of that overpayment is because he failed miserably in the draft.

Well even in the draft he was "overpaying." 4th round QB prospect drafted 18th overall. Trading away future picks for a wide receiver in an absolutely loaded class. I feel like his big board and free agent list consisted of a total of about 10 names and he pursued those 10 names at all costs.

  6. I'm not ready to crown him. I like Allen alot, but one good game and one so so game... I'd still love to see him improve his ball security. The pick while carrying around the Chargers DE last week, a ridiculous fumble where he held the ball up in the air this week. He's a rookie so I'm cautiously optimistic that he will indeed eliminate these things from his game.

His mental toughness and his resiliency give me tons of hope. He looked much more comfortable this week in the pocket, looked to be making his reads much quicker. If he can continue to do what he did today week after week the Bills have a bright future ahead of them.

these guys are so quick to throw salt at our coach after a great game that they dont even realize the guy was calling the plays today... too funny... but im not surprised

I dunno what was up with his conservative play calling the first few weeks but obviously McDermott taking over his play calling duties lit a fire under his ass.

Run blocking was out of the scope of my analysis here.. only focused on pass protect

I showed one example each of MIller and Groy being beaten.. but there were many other plays where they were sufficiently blocking that factored into decent grade

I specifically showed clips of the RBs and TEs not doing their job...

Never said you didn't. I'm just saying that your grades of Groy and Miller are generous, considering Groy probably isn't starting this week. I doubt McDermott has a B grade on him. And I've seen Miller literally laying on his back in the backfield more than once. Sufficient time for the QB and blocking well are two different things. The cut block scheme is probably a result of these guys just being weak at the point of attack.

I get a kick how the national media as already proclaimed the Bills O line as terrible---they don't have a clue----they're just repeating the narrative from some one else. They're too busy following the " hot shot teams".  They're still trying to built up Dallas as an elite franchise & contender.

When you have RBs and TEs not pulling their weight in pass protection, it does make the line look worse. The run blocking scheme they are attempting to use is atrocious. That also makes the line look bad. And while these grades are nice and all, Miller and Groy are consistently man handled at the point of attack. Passing lanes/line of sight are a mess and they typically seem to be JUST barely blocking people. A good illustration is the first picture of Miller totally out of sorts and the third image down Groy frantically looking side to side and then just getting enough of the rusher to call it a block.

OP is real generous with his grades, must be some common core sliding scale thing.

He's got the goods.  Quick release, gamer mentality, great arm.

The pocket presence will develop in time - he had a few bail outs with penalties and luck.  He'll make some mistakes here and there, but it doesn't seem like its going to phase him.  Good for them.

Now hopefully Josh Allen can start exhibiting some of the same stuff.

Tough division.  Considering 2 of KC/Den/LAC probably make it, they're probably playing for 1 wildcard in that division.  Their schedule does them no favors either, as they don't get to play some of the weaker teams in the AFC, and the NFC south is pretty good so far this year.

Their defense looks improved, and Mayfield was the shot in the arm that their offense needed.  But they tied pitt when they probably should have won... and lost to NO when they probably should of won.

A team making the playoffs off of a 0-16 season would probably need those games to go their way much like we did with tampa/atl/kc last year.  Games we won in the 4th quarter.

    North is Steelers/Ravens/Bengals...
