I'd keep Barkley in a backup role no doubt. But Allen needs to play. Peterman can finally be cut and probably Anderson as well.

The fact that people are still willing to defend Peterman says it all about this board. A lot of people talk about the worst QB in league history, Peterman has the stats to put him in that argument, and at a time when offense dominates the league. It's pathetic. Mullins in San Fran stepped in and played. Peterman stepped in and failed. And while the jury is out on Allen because of the elbow, these games after the bye he needs to show some signs of life. Otherwise there might need to be another draft pick spent, another veteran signed. Shame too, the defense is great this year. With even a half way competent offense we'd be talking about playoffs again.

I think we should just sign and start a different QB every week from here on out. It's almost entertaining.

That's because owners, like Pegula, are providing a source of entertainment for the people watching. Fans are acutely aware that most players are playing for money and have no loyalty to the team. They however, do have said loyalty and will continue to have said loyalty long after the player leaves or retires. I also think you are painting with an extremely broad brush and siding with the owners is more like siding with keeping football around as opposed to not having football. The millionaire employees are just that, millionaire employees playing a game. I think most people would kill to be able to play football and make millions doing it. They are choosing to play. They should understand the risk associated with playing before signing up. After all they've probably been playing their whole life. I'll tear my ACL right now for 6 million dollars. The players are more than compensated for the "risk" they are taking. The truth is most trade workers face entirely more risk everyday and get compensated far less.

Better than anyone else behind Allen. My point was the backup isn't here to coach, he's here to keep the team afloat while they work with Allen.

If they wanted a bridge QB all along they should've got one. Anderson wasn't the only guy, and that's that Carolina connection biting them in the ass again. Matt Moore, Brock Osweilier, Drew Stanton, Chad Henne, Chase Daniel were all available, all changed teams. Matt Moore, Chad Henne and Brock even offered up a bunch of in game experience. The problem here is that they have a wide receiver coach playing QB coach and they wanted a QB they could rely on to teach Allen. That's not how a real NFL team does it. Daboll finally found his way down to the sideline to actually be involved with the QBs and that's a start.

Seems to me most Hall of Fame and future Hall of Fame coaches have great QBs. So are great coaches a product of their abilities as a coach or the excellent play from their QBs? Bill B was a sub 500 coach until he landed in New England and Tom Brady took over. Levy? Same thing until Kelly took the field. Jimmy Johnson? Didn't do squat without guys like Emitt, Aikman and Irvin. Holmgren and Favre. Reid and McNabb. Peyton and Brees. Dungy and Manning. Walsh and Montana. Cowher is still considered one of the best and he didn't win the big one until Big Ben came to town. In all those examples you could go in either direction. And both are right because it is a combination of the two that elevates middle of the road, slightly above average teams to greatness. And when one of these things starts to really falter, even the other's greatness can't overcome it. Look at Marino, Rivers, Stafford for example. All gifted at their position. A combination of lousy personnel choices and bad coaching held them back from winning it all. My point is, it is almost impossible to evaluate McDermott and company based on the year and a half we've seen. This was always a rebuild. I thought it was a credit to him last year, winning 9 games. Even more so after seeing what the offense looks like this year. This isn't a bad team, it's a bad half of a team. Guys like Rodgers and Stafford would kill to have a defense as good as the Bills defense. And it's a defense that gets put into a multitude of terrible positions by what is historically, one of the top 5 worst offenses to ever take an NFL football field. And it's no coincidence that one of the worst QBs to ever play professional football has been under center for a good portion of the season. There is simply no amount of coaching, scheming and game planning that can account for awful players. The only 3 guys you'd see even play on another team are Dawkins, Benjamin and McCoy. And even then, these would not be feature players. Benjamin is eating himself out of the league, McCoy is over the hill and really only Dawkins I could see in a true starting capacity on any other team. So one guy. Two when Allen is on the field, since most teams understand there is a development curve to any QB. Coaching isn't going to overcome that. And they must have known. Sitting Allen wasn't the plan because of Allen. Sitting Allen was the plan because of the talent on the offensive side of the football. I've commented in a few threads here that Beane and McDermott desperately need to find scouts and advisers that are as good at the offensive side of the football as they are at defense. Until then, this team will be what it is. Half of a team.

The team was supposed to be in tank mode last season and won 9 games. I felt like this year should be at least 9-7 also. But then Peterman got named the starter and AJ got traded and my hope quickly faded after Nate's first pick.

I like how people are referencing how AJ wasn't good in preseason. Well Nate was amazing in preseason. Maybe preseason doesn't mean jack ***** and we should've stuck with the plan and started AJ instead of trading him. Let him play to the bye, if he sucked you could've started Allen after the bye. Peterman should've never been apart of this plan, they saw what he was last year.

Makes absolutely zero difference what he's doing in Miami, he was a reliable third down target in Buffalo, which Croom, Thomas and Clay are not.

In the current draft order, you have the Giants and Raiders at 1 and 2 and could potentially start a run on QBs right from the jump. The next 5 teams all have their "QB of the future" having either signed or drafted a guy in the off season last year. At number 8 you have Denver and John Elway will be looking to right his QB wrongs of the past few season. Then at 10 you have Jacksonville who is most definitely moving on from Blake Bortles after this season. Jacksonville has two third round picks this year. I think we could potentially see a move from them to move up ahead of Denver to get their QB. Maybe a second and next year's first. Their team is actually quite talented with Bortles typically holding them back. #1 ranked defense, two good backs, a stable of receivers, the team is built for a rookie to come in and be as successful or more so than Bortles, right from the jump. If Coughlin calls Beane, what would you want to see the Bills get in return for the swap down to the 10-12 range? I would personally like to see this year's second and 4th and next year's first, at minimum. Value wise it's about what we paid to move up last year into the top ten, the first accounting for the top 5 pick we will likely have. It would be a great move for Buffalo, because this team is devoid of talent on the offensive side of the football. 10-12 is right around where I'd expect to see Anthony Johnson and N'Keal Harry to be selected and two extra picks this year would go a long way to finding weapons and interior lineman to begin to build around Josh Allen.

It clearly does, you should go watch some actual breakdowns on Cover 1 or some other outlets. But ok. And yes, Beane and McDermott are selecting these guys and they are doing it based off of what information they are being given from their scouting department.

The results spoke for themselves. And obviously all 32 teams agree with my assessment of him as coach because he isn't a coach anymore. He lived off of Ed Reed and Ray Lewis and once he didn't have those caliber of players his scheme was garbage. Rob ran the same scheme every where he went and it was a failure every time.

You don't think the offense evolves week to week? Coaching wise I think Daboll draws up a good game. The play calling always caters to the QB playing. He doesn't ask Peterman to throw deep, tries to give Allen easy reads, gets creative with someone like Anderson starting. The players flat out don't execute. Is it really a coaching problem when your #1 wideout is overweight and plays like he's 5' 9" with as little effort as possible? Your "star" tight end is always nicked up and dogging it? Your RB is 30 years old and dances in the backfield until he gets tackled for a loss? Your former Pro Bowl linemen get traded or retire with absolutely no one to replace them? Your QBs are a group of guys that wouldn't be playing if not for Beane's chairty and a raw but talented rookie whom you planned to sit for a year so he was unprepared to start? This is a personnel issue plain and simple, I don't think it's schematic at all. It's a hodge podge group of guys who won't play in the NFL again after they're released following this season. Maybe Benjamin, Clay and McCoy go somewhere else. But the guys on the line, Peterman, Anderson, Barkley, Holmes etc. won't be going anywhere else after this season. I said in another thread, they have to find scouts that can assess talent on offense as well as they can defense. And fast.

Tank this season once and for all, use draft picks and cap money to build around Allen. I really don't think the coaching is the issue at this point. The team is absolutely devoid of talent on offense. You won't see 90% of the guys we release in the off season play for another team.

Top 5 defense to one of the worst in the league and your forte is defense. Then you bring in one of the worst defense coordinators in the league, your brother, to really drive the nail in the coffin. Rex is a damn clown.
