This family allowed an 11 year old to make a life changing medical decision because they were unhappy? These parents are terrible and the mom is a drama queen. BTW there are no studies that show these drugs are life saving, only advocates who say it but ignore the huge suicide rate of trans people later

I am not attacking you but explaining why doctors could be held liable. If someone is clearly mentally ill and asks for something that will harm them a doctor is required to say no. I don't know how we square this requirement with the right to get the surgery once an adult if the surgery is legal. I would be unlikely to give the kid money unless it can be shown they were pushed into it, but then it is most likely a psychiatrist not the surgeon.

Which part of FL are you in? The DeSantis love is pretty universal except for the people who are professionally aggrieved. -

It is hard to root for this team USA when so many of the players are rude and nasty to anyone who does not treat them like royalty. I have met several of them at soccer event in Orlando and none have come off well, most sound like Antonio Brown, all about what is owed to them. I want team USA to win but no one on the team impresses me as a person. -
Truly this is biggest issue, kids take just portions they want but are required to take all parts because of federal law. Also produce is crap at my school and my school is the rich one

I would generally agree with you, but govt is far too involved, much of it for good reason, to have simple fixes. The ability to have reserved is huge and that alone cause issues that most intelligent and business savvy people have issues understanding. I will tell one story of the mess that happened to me in Washington while working for one of the companies I assure you that you know. Insured homeowner was allowed to under insure home because state did not get involved in how insurance funding was set. After my inspection I recommended an increase in coverage by over 300% based on cost of house. Homeowner had entire policy cancelled and not coverage for claim for fraud since information given was clearly fraudulent. Insured had apparently had an extension on home that was larger than initial house. My point is that planning for normal craziness is difficult, what has happened in FL since 2020 is impossible -

Before I became a teacher I spent 6 years working in insurance all over the country. While my information is dated since I have not been on the road for more than decade but I was hoping you lived in one of the bad states for insurance. CO was actually pretty well run at the state level. But due to the state being required to make sure insurance companies can pay claims, have the infrastructure to handle a large number of claims, along with multiple other major considerations the state has an interest in ensuring the companies are living up to the proper standard. It is not like small companies can be allowed to be insurance companies. -

This absolutely does not "shut me down", it is what I asked for and is welcome. It will piss of left wingers who want to let mentally ill men win women's titles. -

Now you are approaching lying. The market is definitely not a failure. The market is having issues because the guidelines in place do not have room for a 100% increase in value of homes over 3 years in many part of FL. What state do you live in? -

A market in turmoil is a sign of government failure? It happens all the time but I also noticed your standard for turmoil seems to vary in regards to who is the political winner. -

Why is that government failure? It has worked in Florida for at least 50 years, and has been done in about half the states for a long time. Home insurance is unfortunately something that does need some govt attention since problems can have a devastating impact on people's lives, currently we are not there. -
Good argument, the polio vaccine was created in 1949 but became widespread in 1955, they spent 5 years giving it 1.6 million people in total. Idid not let my children have the COVID vaccine for two major reasons: they are of the lowest risk, young and healthy along with the fact that MRNA has no long term research. To compare the two is simply showing your your ignorance of the fact that MRNA is a new technology and how all vaccines have occurred throughout our history.

The biggest reason that some of the them are leaving is that home insurance is a slow gainer and fast loser in Florida, if you are not writing auto insurance in the state there is not much room for a sustained profit. Secondly the state does require insurance companies to cover certain numbers in each risk pool and the individual companies might not think the investment is worth it. There unfortunately is not an easy answer since the state has exploded in cost over the past two years and the new laws will likely take two years to settle the litigation side down. I am glad I love in Orlando and these issues are lesser than coastal areas. -

Weird I just paid mine about 10 days ago and it is up only about 40% since 2016, or right about in line with inflation. I am sure insurance is very expensive for people who have million dollar homes along the coastal areas. Insurance in FL will always be expensive because we get hurricanes but I do find your numbers interesting since my home insurance is below the national average but my home value is above the national average -

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/2023/07/25/florida-history-slavery-benefits-desantis-maxwell/? This guy is a liar of the highest regard and I once argued with him back and forth by email after he referred to my school as a "piece of poop". When he responded he initially claimed that the teachers at my school supported him, and when I asked him who he pretended that he was protecting them. Upon stating I worked at my school and I had asked most of the faculty what they thought, not one agreed with him, at which point he wrote I was harassing him and he would respond to me anymore. This article keeps up his tradition of lies. -
Actually I meant in the " if you can afford to teach you should" way. I made 20k more in 2004 then I do as a teacher now but I simplified a little and I have a pretty sweet life, only issue is inflation is starting to eat away at my plan. I thought would be screwed financially if I had not bought my home in 2003.

We in Orange County just guaranteed free lunch to every student in every school everyday. I know this sounds great but it is going to be a horrible waste of money because we will have to prepare each day as if children will eat lunches they will not eat. The summer school meals were a joke, pizza, french fries, fruit cups, chicken nuggets were each almost every other day. Kids would take the "fresh" fruit and not eat it because of the quality but had to take it because of federal rules. I am ok with feeding kids but the current meals are atrocious and not healthy.

Listen nerd, you might be proud of yourself but you had best start worrying about the feelings of those who drank their way through college and did not have any scholarship offers to grad school, like me.
