What a breath of fresh air from the conservative 'we'll get there' attitude we've seen for so long. People on TSW are lamenting the Watkins pick, but I love it. There are busts, mediocre players in the first round every year, and we made sure that we got a sure thing this year. And with the FA additions this summer, this organization's playoff hopes next year are clearly not just idle rhetoric. If there's one guy to bring the Bills back to the playoffs, it's Doug Whaley. CAN'T WAIT 'TIL SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!

Honestly? I hate this hack Mike Rodak
billsgpr88 replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All heart in this rant, I can't stand the national media's coverage of our beloved BILLS. Rodak is the tip of the iceberg; watch the ex players on espn or nfl.com regurgitating cliches and proving their utter lack of knowledge of the skillset of the team, let alone the depth chart itself (misreading names, or completely neglecting proven studs like kiko, kyle, the potential of gilmore, or the undisputed legend that is Freddie). The only cure to this neglegence is a winning record, and I pray to my holy spaghetti monster that this will soon come true..... but I digress -
Buffalo Bills schedule released...
billsgpr88 replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this..... gotta say I'm more dissapointed in everyone complaining than the schedule, implying some sort of conspiracy... If they really are a good, they'll win enough games. Warm weather teams, cold weather teams, jeeeezus get over it. How many of the Bills players think about that kinda crap when they see the schedule? -
Honestly, I wasn't too discouraged with Thad last year... He doesn't have the best pocket presence or the strongest arrm, but he shows more heart than any QB on the bills I've seen in the last decade. There were a few plays last year where he got drilled and still made the throw, and got up screaming and jumping around like a special teams player making a big hit on the first kickoff of a home game. I love seeing that passion on the field, wish I could see that more from EJ.

Why Not Kick The Tires with Josh Freeman?
billsgpr88 replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How often does a QB get a chance to start, stink it up, and then go somewhere else and be successful? Not a rhetorical question, I'd really like to know because I can't think of one. It sounds like Fitzy all over again, and I would take him over Freeman at this point. I'd say after 3 years in the league, you know what you're getting from a QB -
its a bit of a reach, but I say get ebron at 9. he's got the rare size, speed, and hands combo that makes him too athletic for lbs to keep up with and too big for dbs to cover

polamalu... In his prime, he was the most exciting defensive player I've ever seen

Let's wait til the 2nd for a WR...

After the combine, everyone is clamoring for a WR. I can see why, a ton of them are really impressive. But I think that's exactly why it doesn't make sense to take one in the first; the position is absolutely stacked. Beside Watkins, I don't know if anyone can say with certainty that any of these wideouts are above the rest. You all know the big names, but you look down the list: Matthews, Cooks, Robinson, Adams, Moncrief... all these guys are potential studs. IMHO we should go trade down, go with LB (Skov or Mosley) or even SS with Pryor if Byrd is gone, and then cross your fingers for Matthews in the second (6-3, great combine, and obsessed with studying film which is rare for a WR) or Adams (looks like barry sanders after he catches the ball). Regardless of what happens, we should at least acknowledge the fact that Benjamin and Evans are not clearly in a different league from the others. And besides, I think we should have a little more confidence in our WR squad than what I see on TSW..

No expert on the topic, but have heard that Mike Evans is a way better blocker, more work ethic, and has more of a team mentality than Evans. That being said, Benjamin has a gear I don't think Evans has and is capable of some jaw dropping plays. Not sure if the blocking and team mentality are so important for WRs to be successful (see Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Chad Johnson)

Is There A Place On The Bills For LB Chris Borland?
billsgpr88 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
borland, skov, borland, skov.... No love for other LBs? I put my money on Kyle Van Noy, he looks like Kiko did in college, but bigger. Fast, all over the place, and good all over the field. Trade down for another second rounder, get Kelvin Benjamin, Van Noy, and Jace Amaro in that order (if we were so lucky to be able to) -
Jairus Byrd [was Jarius Byrd]
billsgpr88 replied to Iowabillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Dude felt insulted by the approx. 7 million year offered to him. Then he sat out for like 5 games for something he had half a year to take care of and heal. I know he's one of the best, but that is some straight up bullsh*t. There are a lot of elite players in the league that would never pull that crap -
Something I've yet to see on this thread is how stevie looked specifically when playing with manuel. IMHO, they were rarely on the same page and Stevie seemed to be frustrated at times by this. I would chalk this up to manuel not getting used to stevie's allen iverson-esque jukes. But it did look like manuel had a much better rhythm when throwing to woods, especially early on last season. Stevie is a great rout runner without a doubt and can make some great plays, but how many times can we forgive the penalties and fails in the clutch? Everyone knows about the Steelers game, along with last season's pats and falcons game, but to me those are very telling. How many #1 wrs can you name that have dropped, fumbled multiple gimme's in clutch situations? Not completely sold on trading him, but it seems that everyone on this thread thinks those without a like-minded opinion is an idiot. kinda why TSW bums me out in general

[closed]The big question about Michael Sam
billsgpr88 replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm no expert, but according to cbssports: Considering his size, Sam is surprisingly effective in run defense. Can slip gaps due to his quickness to penetrate and make a big play behind the line of scrimmage and shows good power, knee bend to anchor and create a pile when run at. Good awareness, quickness and balance to recognize and defeat cut-blocks. -
They need a run stuffing LB, I say perhaps if hes there in the 5th, and definitely the 6th
-
Kellen 'happy hands' Winslow, I believe
-
Where's the LB love? I'd consider Mack or Barr if they're there, gotta be able to stop the run. Ideally if we could trade down to get Ebron in the middle of the round, then two picks in the second getting an OT and big WR (maybe Benjamin slides down?) Think we can wait til the 3rd for a LB, if Shayne Skov or Chris Borland are still available, but who knows...

Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland
billsgpr88 replied to mannc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
pettine is the most important part of the bills franchise, he should be promoted to HC here if marrone continues to show he is not up to the task. i hope we never have to see how much this team would regress without him -
I, like the others, don't think that the OP has evidence of glaring locker room issues, but I do think it's a good point to bring up. I'm actually concerned on the offensive side of the ball. We haven't had a true qb leader since what, Flutie? I think that leadership presence has an intangible effect on the team and unfortunately I don't think EJ has it. I want to see some bills get PO'd after a loss, and getting ready for the next drive after a touchdown instead of acting like they won the game. I swear, when I saw EJ crip walking after his rushing TD against JAX, I just about lost my shi!t. I mean, the team's 4-9 and barely beating one of the worst teams in the league and you're dancing? I loathe the patriots, but I wish we had someone like Brady who never gloats and is never satisfied until the game is over. And I'm so fed up with the 'aw shucks' press conferences after losses. Gimme one dude flippin out after a loss, just to show me that refuse to settle for mediocrity!!!

well, there's a thousand of them barefoot dancing on it... so there's that
