  1. By now everyone has seen the season predictions, the astronomical odds that the Bills are given to succeed this year, and the large number of Bills fans on this board that concur. I get it, no proven qb, no big name receivers aside from Benjamin, and the Bills O line looked god awful at times in the preseason, particularly in the Bengals game.  That being said, the idea that the Bills might go 0-16 (brought up in another post) seems to conpletely neglect the significance of teamwork and coaching. There were several moments of last season that compel me to believe the Bills have an advantage over a good number of teams in this regard (the team's celebration of BrandonTate's first down being the most vivid). Football is, as the saying goes, the ultimate team sport and I think this should be considered more heavily when we prognosticate the performance of our beloved bills. we can't see any measure of teamwork and preparation when we look at a depth chart, but at times it becomes clear as day on the field. The Bills don't have the big names, and yes there was a lot of turnover at critical positions, but I would implore all of you to remember what was expected at the beginning of last season before writing this year's team off entirely

Taken into what context?  You can't state that and then not give the context to which you are referring.  It is illogical.

The Jags had just as bad a passing game as the Bills did and were run heavy with a clear #1 back.  Seems pretty similar to Bills 2017.

Tolbert was terrible in 2017.  He should have never made the team and his presence the entire year played a role in no comp picks.  I'm happy they moved on and if Ivory looks anything like his 2015 season it will be a great signing.

You just don't see that many backs declining in YPC have a resurrection.  But like you and others have said, 30 catches, good run blocking, and a few key reps per game may be just enough.

Yeah, you're right, there was no context given.. But if you look at the context of thei games in which he was used most, they were often when the jaguars had a huge lead and the opposition presumably knew that they were trying to run out the clock (17 carries in 45-7 win over texans, 17 carries in 27-0 win over colts, 20 carries in 23-7 win over bengals). And, as mentioned by someone else, the jaguars running game was underwhelming despite having one of the best young running backs in the game. Fournette averaged only 3.9 ypg, a number that was inflated by his 90-yard run early in the year. Take that away, his ypg on the season drops to 3.56

Allen is going to be a great QB, I think Rudolph will be an above average starter too. Both players get criticized wrongfully IMO. People will defend players like Lamar Jackson with his whopping 13 points, to bad there isn't an affirmative action for wonderlic tests. Meanwhile Allen and Rudolph triple Jackson's score yet people still defend the guy when intellectually he can't compete with 99% of the QBs in this class but yeah, keep criticizing Allen and Rudolph.

Would be interesting.  The Browns dangle the Darnold "fruit" LOL (doesn't sound right), so that the Giants trade to 1 for him.  Then the Browns take Allen at 2 and Barkely at 4. Ideally,   the Browns maybe trying to land a QB and Barkley.   This is all hypothetical of course but let's say they know the Giants like Darnold and Barkley.  So if they take Darnold at 1 then the Giants take Barkley at 2.  But they want to walk away with a generational talent at HB and a future signal caller and are willing to swap picks with the Giants to do it.

If this happened, Allen and Barkley would then be the "fruit" of Darnold's dangle

  5. according to wikipedia, tyrod taylor is 6' 3/4". Tyrod had problems finding open receivers, but that seemed to be due more to the fact that he could not throw an intermediate pass through a window in the middle of the field. ever. ok maybe not ever but I think i could count on one hand the number of times he did that last year

  6. I've long been a critic of Rodak, who in the past seemed determined to cast a dark cloud over any sign of progress or potential on the bills. But this year, he is giving credit where it's due. Lots of it. It makes me wonder if he has turned a corner in his reporting style, or perhaps the bills have grown on him and now he's showing his Fandom through his reports. The third possibility is that he's always reported with the same approach, and his insight has identified something truly to respect and admire about this team, as opposed to the deceptive rays of hope this team has shown in previous years. Haven't made up my mind yet which answer is the closest to reality, but either way I love the positive press. Go bills!

  7. I have a feeling this thread will be revived every time Gilmore makes a mistake. I do agree he's overrated, but Jesus some people on this board want him to fail, because why, he did what every single player does by going after a bigger contract, and a better chance of winning a championship? I adamantly argued with a friend that he is way overrated; he is great in coverage at times, but never wraps up a tackle and often blows coverages. You guys can debate that deep ball ad nauseum, but the people defending him know in their hearts that he has been involved in a LOT of blown coverages That have resulted in touchdowns or big plays. It happens too often for it to be a coincidence, that other players around him are always blowing coverages and we're to accept that he is always playing assignment correctly. I can actually see this happening several times this year, and him possibly being benched at some point. Yes I will root for him to fail, but for no other reason than he is on the PatriotS and I wI'll celebrate every single thing that is advantageous for the bills. But to say the guy is a cancer is pathetic; the guy barely ever speaks and is known to be a consummate professional off the field. He's just a guy who plays football, he is guilty of nothing other than being a liability on the field at times. Get over it

  8. You sound just like me... in 2003, 2007, 2009,2011.... I really mean no disrespect by this, but I am guessing you're a bit younger. Experience has force fed us bills fans the harsh reality that any and all perceived signs of success mean absolute squat until they put up a winning record. And one in the secoND half of the season at that. You want to talk about getting your hopes up? Remember when Trent Edwards went 5 and 1, only to see him get smashed into the turf by Dansby? Or how about 07 when they missed the playoffS by losING to derek Anderson and the Browns in the Most pathetic display of offense ever witnessed. Or perhaps in 05 when they when on a 7 game winning streak only to lose to the steelers back ups in the final game of the season. This is the weakest the roster has looked since the Gailey era, no knocking beane and McDermott doing for the long term, but mediocrity would be a godsend this year

  9. First I would like to express gratitude for the updates, insight, and engaging discussion that occurs on this TSW. I rely on this website as my primary source of all things bills, and have done so for years. I rarely post, but lurk on almost all threads concerning the latest with the team. That being said, I felt compelled to speak up specifically about the worst aspect of this message board, and most likely all message boards: derision and trolling. It seems that more than half of the posts on TSW are confronted with snide comments and cheap sarcasm, often devolving into a petty flame war. What those involved don't realize, or perhaps don't care to consider, is that it ruins the thread for everyone else. If you see a post that seems stupid or ill-advised, appeal to your better judgment and just ignore it; if it is so, it'll go away on its own. Some fans have radical views. Others are less informed than others. But I have to say that I sigh heavily every time I follow a thread and it stoops to mockery and derision. This is not an anti-bullying campaign or a big ego stroke on my part. I am posting this for selfish reasons, because I don't want to waste my time reading petty arguments, and I am convinced that many feel the same. Not to mention that it discourages discussion, which is why this board exists. How about we all agree we love our woeful Bills and want to see them win. Post stuff that other people would like to read even if they don't agree with it, this message board would be far more pleasant for it. Go BILLS!

  10. I'm well aware of his age, mileage, and injuries, but this would be a low risk pickup with a lot of upside. Perhaps there's something I'm missing, but it is confusing to me that he's received no media attention. Yes, he's had the torn acl and the knee surgeries, but when healthy he's a bona fide premier back. Might as well kick the tires

  11. Watching the Bills schedule release hype video on bb.com reminded me of my favorite moment I have ever been a part of in Buffalo. The comeback against NE in 2011 to end the drought! Particularly the Drayton Florence interception after it was deflected by Dareus's helmet. Unforgettable, and I will remember that for the rest of my life. What's your favorite memory?

This very same moment came to mind. "and they are going bonkers in Buffalo!" what a great comeback win,

  12. EJ is terrible. Always has been, always will be. He seems like a great guy and a hard worker, so I get why people root for him. I was one of them for a long time, but you have to call a spade a spade. He's simply terrible, tyrod on his worst day is better than EJ on his best. Honestly, it's shocking to me that anyone still thinks he could be viable

  13. screw the nick-names and just win some games. STFU, get to the playoffs and do something instead of a bunch of pointless media hype already.

how about this nickname instead: #Patriotsbitches
