Cheats latest illegal play
Chuck Schick replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't really get the whole "great coaching" thing either. The Pats were near mid field, 4th and short. Keep the offense on the field and just don't snap the ball....like a million other teams do constantly... and take the delay of game penalty. Punt the ball through the end zone and leave Pitt with like 25 seconds in the half. Running the punt team out there only saved them the meaningless 5 yard penalty. -
You have to love Josh Allen...

Don't be surprised. These are the same people who leave the movie theater saying "The book was soooo much better".... not just complainers, but the Look at me, I Know Everything complainers. -
Is No. 1 Ranking Legit or a Mirage?
Chuck Schick replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good, improving D... but with a grain of salt. Opposing teams would be stupid to not be fairly conservative offensively, knowing that they'll only need to score 17-20 points to win. You're not getting the other offense's best shot, in other words. -
Peterman actually played quite well!
Chuck Schick replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He wasn't the worst guy on the field. For whatever that's worth. The O-line and WRs were completely outmatched. I felt bad for Shady and for Peterman (a little). -
Exactly. Random people would tell me how "good" the Bills were because of this stat. Clearly not having watched a single game.

How is this stat line? Edmunds thru 5 games...

Always helpful to compare a LB to a rookie QB. Kind of like how my dog is far more impressive than my lawnmower.- 30 replies

Jalen Ramsey trash talking a lot of QB's

Allen hasn't proven a single thing? That's ridiculous. You don't become a consensus Top 10 pick on potential alone. -
Favorite Bills game last season

Tampa Bay game... a well-played and exciting game where neither team got conservative and tried to hang on for the win. With Tyrod gone, I'm hoping for more of that mindset. -
This isn't college. When the time comes to extend their contracts it won't be an issue.

Sabres & NHL 2017-18 - Entry Draft on June 22
Chuck Schick replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yes because we all remember how closely Tom Barasso and Jim Kelley's careers were intertwined after the '83 draft. Or not. -
Allen Over Rosen Reminds Me of
Chuck Schick replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's COMPLETE speculation at this point, but all these comparisons that people seem to think are relevant (EJ, Whitner/Ngata, Maybin/Orakpo, etc) are completely irrelevant. If we hadn't chosen Allen, someone within 1or 2 picks of us would have. This guy was a consensus top-10 pick and often top-5. Not the case in any of those other comparisons. -
From a 2018 Bills fan's perspective, yes. But who knows how these teams see it, especially since they can easily talk themselves into "Hey, we're good at QB for at least another couple years (which is forever to someone employed in the NFL), let's grab Nelson/Chubb/etc and win some games this year."

One of the QBs will still be there at Pick #6
Chuck Schick replied to Chuck Schick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But all we need is either NYG or Denver to say, "You know, we are ok at QB for a couple years....lets grab Nelson and build our o-line like Dallas did ( for example)". Once you get past pick 5, and there's still one of the QBs available, I agree that you then have to move up. But you've gone from giving up probably 3 first-rounders and more for pick #2, to just our #12 and a second and third (or something like that). -

I think if one of us were steering the ship, you're right. I get the vibe from Beane that he loves to make a plan and stick to it..so for better or worse, he may not blink. -
Like they said in Rounders (I think), "You don't play the cards, you play the opponent". The Browns and Jets go QB of course. The Giants, Broncos, and anyone else (besides the Bills) thinking about making a trade into the top 5, don't have the deep scars of not having a franchise QB. They won't be able to resist the thought of having a blue-chip player fill whatever hole they have on their roster, rather than an uncertain QB needing development. Barkley, Chubb, Nelson, Ward,..... Even though it seems like the obviously right move to make, I don't think the 4 QBs all go off in the first 5 picks, because of that temptation.

How many different shades of blue can they use? I counted at least 4. -
The Reason We're Seeing The False Rise of QBs
Chuck Schick replied to YodaMan79's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the cap does remove some negative incentives (disincentives?) for drafting QBs high, but probably not enough to swing the tide one way or the other. The bigger impact has come from the relatively high recent success rates of the first few QBs taken, even when trading away the farm for them. If the Redskins/RGIII and the Eagles/Wentz drafts were flip-flopped chronologically, opinions might be a little different. As an example. -
What is your biggest Bills FA mistake
Chuck Schick replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Percy Harvin- twice, somehow. -
Your mind is clearly made up, which fine.... but to say that the Watkins/EJ trade isn't directly tied into the Darby/Mathews trade kind of hurts your cred. One clearly wouldn't have happened without the other. And that was the reality AT THE TIME....to say you'd rather now have Darby to trade, but ignore everything else isn't realistic. And of course there are CBs that are better suited at man-to-man than zone, and vice versa. Good zone CBs are usually better at reacting to and catching the ball and making tackles in the run game, as examples.

You're right in that a WR's stats can be skewed or misleading. But the article you cited was more of an opinion-piece that clearly had a point of view it was trying to defend. So it cherry-picked 10 or so clips from the season to make its point. I think the consensus from just about everyone else is that Sammy was pretty average, all things considered. Even the arguments in favor of the Rams tagging or re-signing him are that a full year working with Goff will result in a much better performance. Not many would be on board with that if they thought he was going to duplicate his 2017 showing.

Vikings and Chiefs are cool. I hate the Ravens...helmets are ugly and the plain black spandex pants look horrible on big linemen
