  1. Gees, cheering on higher gas prices!
  2. That's right. Hitler loved the isolationists. If America had shown leadership in the 30's Hitler would have been deterred
  3. You are siting a right wing opinion piece. Nuff said about your level of thought. Here is some reality for you: https://www.google.com/finance/quote/CVX:NYSE?window=5Y Chevron up over the last 5 years, and grew under Biden. No one is investing in big oil? And Biden admin approved on many drilling permits
  4. That's what Ukraine is arguing they need them for, which I admit had me surprised, also
  5. So no rational response? Interesting, and telling Premature. Blacks slowly had their rights taken away from them as the 19th century wore on. Blacks were elected to congress and at the state level for a few decades, then came Jim Crow. Plessy did not happen until 1896 and that case set a precedence that was followed all through the south and infected the north as well
  6. Slavery is not good... https://qz.com/1273998/for-10-years-students-from-texas-have-been-using-a-history-textbook-that-says-not-all-slaves-were-unhappy That needs to be taught, not this nonsense that there was a good side to slavery. Remember, the south used to preach that slavery was a blessing of god That's good and all, but apply numbers of slaves to states like South Carolina and Mississippi, both states had a majority of people there enslaved. Those states led the south out of the Union. Did slaves build South Carolina? Good argument can be made there. Same with the rest of the deep south. Did a pro-slavery racist minority cause our worst war in American history? Yup
  7. Not completely true. The opening of the Erie Canal and other advances--steamboats, railroads, and many others inventions--started the nation towards industrialization, look up Market Revolution. Buffalo had over 500 manufacturing concerns by 1860
  8. I'd like to handle this in parts because you make a lot of interesting points. First, you are childish, not me. I can write for myself and not just cut and paste. So there's your insult back, That is a simplification to say that, but cotton was the most profitable part of the economy leading up to the war---but our section of the country was catching up fast with the grain trade through Buffalo from the Old North West. I love the part you provided about how bad slavery was for whites and blacks. So true, just a degrading system It should be added that racism kept poor whites poor by giving them a sense that though poor, at least they had it better than blacks who had almost no chance of advancement. Racism was used to divide the poor
  9. So you can't point out anything! You forgot the exclamation point!
  10. Give me an example of specific lies, please
  11. Back in the 1960's Major orchestras were almost 95% all male. Women we not thought strong enough to do some instruments at that level. Then this one women wanted to try out for a position in Boston but she had a conflict of interest so they did blind auditions. They only listened to the performers play and didn't get to look at them. She was the winner, they loved her music, until they found she was a women and there was an uproar. Now most places have to use blind auditions and the music industry is much closer to 50-50 men/women
  12. I was interested in what they wanted them for. Seems to me drones would be easier to learn and use. I had not thought of it as an anti-missile platform. If that really is the case, then yes, as you say, more power to them Freedom isn't free It sure isn't, and that's why we should keep supplying weapons for this free people to defend themselves
  13. A contingent of military officials is quietly pushing the Pentagon to approve sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine to help the country defend itself from Russian missile and drone attacks, according to three people with knowledge of the discussions. Ukraine has kept American-made F-16s on its weapons wish list since the Russian invasion last year. But Washington and Kyiv have viewed artillery, armor and ground-based air defense systems as more urgent needs as Ukraine seeks to protect civilian infrastructure and claw back ground occupied by Russian forces. Despite the age of Ukraine’s jets, Kyiv’s integrated air defenses have kept Russia from dominating its skies since the Feb. 24 invasion. But now, officials are concerned that Ukraine is running out of missiles to protect its skies. Once its arsenal is depleted, Russia’s advanced fighter jets will be able to move in and Kyiv “will not be able to compete,” said the DoD official involved in the discussions. Modern fighter jets could be one solution to this problem, argues a group of military officials in the Pentagon and elsewhere. F-16s carry air-to-air missiles that can shoot down incoming missiles and drones. And unlike the Patriots and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems the West is currently sending, fighter jets can move around an area quickly to protect different targets. “If they get [F-16] Vipers and they have an active air-to-air missile with the radar the F-16 currently has with some electronic protection, now it’s an even game,” the DoD official said. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/28/pentagon-send-f-16s-ukraine-00080045
