But but but, they are going to cut the government I thought?!?!? -
I know, but it would be easier to support something that makes sense. They want to cut spending yet Trump is calling for a debt limit increase? Heck, he wants to abolish ANY limits to borrow! Wow, don’t remember him campaigning for that

A new type of addict is showing up at Gamblers Anonymous meetings across the country: investors hooked on the market’s riskiest trades. At Gamblers Anonymous in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, one man called options “the crack cocaine” of the stock market. Another said he faced hundreds of thousands of dollars in trading losses after borrowing from a loan shark to double down on stocks. And one young man brought his mom and girlfriend to celebrate one year since his last bet. They were among a group of about 60 people, almost all men, who sat in rows of metal folding chairs in a crowded church basement that evening. Some shared their struggle with addiction—not on sports apps or at Las Vegas casinos—but using brokerage apps like Robinhood. https://www.wsj.com/finance/stocks/stock-market-trading-apps-addiction-afecb07a -
The Big Oil companies doing the Trump dance, they got their shrill in the WH who is threatening to make average Americans pay more for goods if Europe doesn't unnaturally tilt oil markets towards the US. Poor Donald, he probably misses @Irv soft hands stroking him awake in the morning 🤣 https://www.cnbc.com/2024/12/20/trump-says-european-union-must-buy-us-oil-and-gas-in-trade-ultimatum.html

And yet these Republicans, with Trump's support, trying to extend the debt limit? How screwed up is that? Same old, same old. Nothing different
-
_____ Wait a second...these flunkies are going to extend the debt ceiling? You mean Trump is borrowing even more money that we tax payers don't have? Do not pass any bills! Screw this, even more debt? I thought they were fixing this? https://www.cnbc.com/2024/12/19/house-republicans-say-they-have-deal-to-avert-government-shutdown.html

@sherpa @Coffeesforclosers I totally agree with this: https://www.tipranks.com/news/can-archer-aviation-stock-continue-its-bull-run-heres-what-this-analyst-expects Both Trump and Elon Musk have voiced support for expanding drone use in combat and logistics over traditional manned aircraft. In typical fashion, Musk recently criticized the F-35 program on X, calling it “obsolete in the age of drones,” and that it is being run by “idiots” and endangers pilots. Meanwhile, Trump shared a video promoting growth in the U.S. VTOL aircraft industry to counter China’s dominance. -

It means he picked former Dems which is Uni like, or something. Rubio is a good pick, the drunk guy isn't and I have not seen many of the others. I saw his commerce secretary called Trump a free-trader, which is a relief Trump has to keep the train on the tracks. He has inherited a good economy so he will not want to mess with that. -
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/12/18/trump-ukraine-gas-mineral-russia-peace-deal/ Donald Trump often says that liberating Iraq without getting its oil resources was one of America’s biggest foreign policy blunders. He has a chance to avoid a similar mistake in Ukraine. Ukraine is not only the breadbasket of Europe; it is also a mineral superpower with some of the largest reserves of 117 of the 120 the most widely used minerals in the world. Of the 50 strategic minerals identified by the United States as critical to its economy and national security, many of which are quite rare yet key to certain high-value applications, Ukraine supplies 22. Make sense of the latest news and debates with our daily newsletter Ukraine possesses the largest reserves of uranium in Europe; the second-largest reserves of iron ore, titanium and manganese; and the third largest reserves of shale gas — as well as large deposits of lithium, graphite and rare earth metals, according to a 2022 report by the Canadian geopolitical risk-analysis firm SecDev. These minerals are essentia The question for the president-elect is: Does he want Russia and China to get that treasure trove of natural resources? Or does he want to develop them with Ukraine to the benefit of the American people? One of the main reasons Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine (aside from his delusional historical fantasies about how Ukrainians and Russians are “one people”) was to seize these natural resources, which are valued at an estimated $26 trillion, according to SecDev. Follow Marc A. Thiessen That effort nearly succeeded. In early 2022, Russian forces reached the outskirts of Kyiv and came close to taking the capital and installing a puppet regime. But with U.S. assistance — including the Javelin missiles that Trump supplied (reversing Barack Obama’s lethal weapons ban) — Ukraine forced Russia back. In so doing, it not only liberated its citizens from brutal Russian occupation; it also successfully defended roughly 80 percent of Ukraine’s known mineral deposits, according to the SecDev report — including 73 percent of its iron ore, 75 percent of its lithium and graphite, 90 percent of its titanium, and 92 percent of its uranium and other radioactive elements. Early on, Russia seized control of an estimated 80 percent of Ukraine’s massive offshore hydrocarbon deposits. But over the past three years, Ukraine has wiped out roughly half of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet using explosive unmanned sea drones to drive the Russian navy from its territorial waters. With that successful offensive, Ukraine has reopened its shipping lanes and recaptured many of its Black Sea oil and gas deposits. Today, Ukraine maintains control of 96.5 percent of its proven oil reserves and 96 percent of its proven natural gas reserves — as well as all of its aluminum, cobalt, copper, nickel, tin and beryllium deposits. Natural gas About 96 percent of Ukraine’s natural gas reserves remain under Ukrainian control. Russia did succeed in seizing about 57 percent of the country’s known coal reserves (worth about $11.9 trillion) and about half of its deposits of certain rare earths (though many of those were captured in 2014 when Russia first invaded and seized Crimea). But those losses notwithstanding, Ukraine has prevented Russia from seizing $13.6 trillion in mineral and hydrocarbon wealth. That has been a massive defeat for Putin — and a huge opportunity for the United States. The American people have already invested about $183 billion to help Ukraine defend its mineral-rich land from Russian aggression. Though the vast majority of the military portion of that aid has been spent here in the United States — strengthening our defense production capacity and creating good manufacturing jobs for American workers — that amount remains a staggeringly large investment in helping Ukraine defend itself from unjust aggression. Shouldn’t U.S. taxpayers get a return on that investment? Do we want Ukrainian titanium going into American planes, or into Russian and Chinese fighter jets that will threaten the United States and its allies? Do we want Ukraine’s lithium and rare earths powering American-made electronics and electric vehicles, or Chinese ones? Trump has pledged to “bring Americans the lowest-cost energy and electricity on Earth” as well as expand artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency mining, which require data centers that consume vast amounts of electricity. The only proven way to lower electricity costs while simultaneously increasing electricity demand is to dramatically boost our supply of clean nuclear power. And Trump has pledged to approve the construction of nuclear plants powered by small innovative reactors.

More: Those at risk include people from war-torn countries such as Afghanistan and Ukraine as well as people brought to the U.S. illegally as children, often called Dreamers. Many immigrants with temporary status, known as TPS, enjoy deportation protections—and work authorization—because the government has determined their home countries are too dangerous. Many more entered the country through a program set up by the Biden administration that rewarded them with work permits for coming legally rather than attempting to cross the southern border. Immigrants whose legal work status is at risk work in sectors that range from healthcare and hospitality to manufacturing and education, for small businesses and for large employers such as Eli Lilly, Amazon and Microsoft. Some are recent arrivals; others have been in the workforce for a decade. Their removal from the workforce—which, because of the intricacies of federal immigration law, would take months or more to play out—would create fresh challenges for employers already struggling to fill open positions. It would also plunge millions of families into instability, opening them up to possible deportation with few legal options to challenge the decision. “It will have an enormous impact across the U.S. in a wide range of industries, regardless of whether those people get deported or wind up leaving the U.S.,” said Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, a nonpartisan advocacy group. Chris Thomas, an immigration attorney in Denver, is working with one social-media company that has more than 1,000 employees whose legal work status could vanish, in roles that range from marketing to computer analyst. “A lot of other companies are expressing the same concern,” Thomas said Trump won't do anything. He will see that hurting the workforce hurts the economy. He will just do some cruel thing at the border, the media will freak out, Trump will say, "See I'm going after the parasites!" and nothing really will change. Fine, but will you really care if Trump does very little about immigrantion? You may not realize it but the economy relies on these workers and Trump knows that. He won't shoot himself in the foot. You are MAGA won't give two craps if he just does very little on this issue. Seriously, would you mind if he just signed the bi-partisan agree reached in Congress? That would work, right? If Trump blesses it, MAGA will say its great

Will Trump disappoint his base or will he go through with wrecking these people's lives to satisfy the lust of rat f'n these innocents. https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/trump-immigration-work-permit-policy-business-impact-0ecadef5 Nate Koetje, chief executive of an electrical contractor based in Grand Rapids, Mich., would like to hire as many as 200 workers next year. Despite a somewhat cooling labor market, he said he would be lucky to find 150. So if President-elect Donald Trump follows through on his pledge to eliminate programs that provide temporary work permits to immigrants with no permanent legal status, Koetje’s growing company would face even more staffing challenges. The company, Feyen Zylstra, now employs two people whose ability to continue working is at risk. “Though the numbers are small, these individuals play a key role in the success of a company like ours,” Koetje said, adding that increasing opportunities for legal immigration is important for the continued growth of companies like his, and he sees it as a bipartisan issue. Mass deportations are the most prominent of Trump’s immigration pledges, but a more urgent threat looms for millions of immigrants and their employers: losing access to legal work. Trump has promised to eliminate several programs that offer deportation protections and work authorization to immigrants in the country illegally or whose visas have expired. As many as 3.3 million immigrants covered by the programs could lose their ability to work, according to the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan think tank.

All this talk about his government spending cut stuff if kind of a distraction. I'm reading a book about the creation of SpaceX now and its really interesting. NASA is great and all, but it is a dinosaur. His approach in building new, more powerful rockets is inspiring I have to admit and he is not just a powerful person now but a real historical figure in space flight. He wants to go to Mars and I'm sure that is a big reason he jumped on MAGA bandwagon to try and get ahold of NASA and shake it up, but we will see

Ok, fine, they are working all over the country. I think they were all immigrants that put the roof on my house, for instance. How about the agricultural feilds? The meat packing plants? You think Trump would be stupid enough to go and round up those workers? Trump already is backing off his promise to make groceries cheaper, so he will leave those workers alone
