Lol, I was just thinking about that. Stock market, which has already been pretty choppy lately, is headed for big loses tomorrow. Trump will declare victory and drop them in a week or so. But there is a report of walls going up around the white house. Who knows -

U.S. refiner Phillips 66 (PSX.N) , opens new tab expects production cuts in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain region where alternative crude supplies are limited if tariffs take effect. Phillips 66, along with HF Sinclair and Par Pacific Holdings (PARR.N) , opens new tab have elevated exposure to Canadian crude, data from TD Cowen shows. "Our commercial and optimization teams have been working hard to develop every possible scenario we can think of and how we would respond" to Trump's tariffs, said Gary Simmons, chief operating officer of Valero, during call with analysts on Thursday. -

You mean the tax on Canadian oil? That should give us relief at the pump -
Thanks. I get the strategy and think its great. The Kamakazies happened, in part, because Japan had no fuel to train pilots. I'm just saying it would be extremely easy to shut down the rail system there. Little bridges over creeks are tough engineering designs. Talk about creating bottlenecks. I believe that after the war (ww2) it was revealed that the Schweinfurt Missions had been ghastly mistakes. The Germans had an abundant supply of ball bearings from many sources.

“Something around 50% of U.S. petroleum imports come from Canada. The Trump administration puts tariffs on those, it is unequivocally the case that everything in the United States will become substantially more expensive,” House told CNBC in an interview. “The breadth of the impact that we should expect to see from these tariffs could be enormous and could affect every single thing we produce in the United States and every household and every business. No one will be immune.”

Yup, this is how you switch the tax base away from Trump's buddies and onto the backs of the American people While the market’s largest companies can afford to bring products in early, a strategy called frontloading, not all companies can afford to do take this approach. “I don’t know what’ll happen,” said Rick Muskat, president of the family-owned shoe retailer Deer Stags, which imports around two million shoes a year, with about 98% of their men’s and boy’s shoes made in China and sold in Macy’s, Kohl’s, JCPenney, and on Amazon. Trump has threatened to ultimately impose tariffs of up to 60% on products from China. Muskat says the company’s “razor-thin margins” prohibit it from frontloading products, and consumers may ultimately have to pay. “We’ll increase our price,” Muskat said. “The retailer will either accept it or won’t accept it. If they accept it, they’ll increase their price. Then the consumer will be left with no other choice. There will be sticker shock.” -

The fentanyl excuse is funny. I'm sure Trump is crying every night over the Appalachian deaths by OD. Trump probably has a good laugh over their deaths -
---- Ut oh! I guess you don't need a weather man to know which way the wind is blowing.... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14348965/Hedge-funds-massive-bet-stock-market-crash-raises-alarm.html https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/01/31/hedge-funds-bet-billions-against-trumps-america/ It's really been pretty good under both, and back with Obama, and before the 2008 crash, it had been fine with the Bozos Clinton and Bush W. If Trump keeps with this tariff stupidity, he might not rank very well after all is said and done. Hopefully good sense prevails

Taxes on coffee??? That would be wrong! Brilliant! Americans last year bought approximately $1.3 trillion worth of merchandise from those three countries, according to the Census Bureau. The new taxes are expected to roil the North American economy, risking the reignition of inflation in the United States, a possible recession in Canada and a deepening downturn in Mexico. -
He's crazy He also tried staying in power last time. What don't you get? Immigration? You mean just harassing people, kicking a few people out and just trying to get headlines? That's what you agree with, right? I mean they know where the immigrants are--meat packing plants--but they don't bother them ___ Ultimately, the burden of that tax is shared by the American importer, the foreign producer and the final customer, and varies depending upon specific market conditions. But in most cases, tariff costs are “almost entirely borne by U.S. firms and consumers,” according to a 2020 study by economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Princeton University and Columbia University.

This way he gets tax cuts for the wealthy. Let the little people pay more instead So stupid. 25th amendment time! “It’ll be a tremendous amount of money for our country, tremendous amount,” the president said, repeating his erroneous claim that foreigners pay U.S. tariffs. “Tariffs are going to make us very rich and very strong.” 🤷♂️
