  1. Yeah, this year is developing Allen, so why not have him play with receivers who might be around after this year.
  2. He had actually planned on going....but dropping is what he does. OR Didn't want to spend his day crawling around under the table looking for the pens he dropped.
  3. Statuesque and also had a tendency to stare down his receiver. Had probably always done it, but had the arm strength to gun it in even when the defense knew where it was going. Once he lost just a few miles per hour off his fastball, it became a problem.
  4. The problem is that our cupboard is fully stocked with mediocre wide receivers. We have a bunch of 3, 4, 5 receivers...but no 1 or 2. With one possible exception there just aren't any 1 or 2 wide receivers walking the streets this time of year. The only purpose signing someone right now would be to make some people ditch their Zay Jones jerseys....but no appreciable difference in talent.
  5. That was an odd play. It looked like the cornerback went for the ball....and KB could have had at least an equal chance to catch it....but, instead, put his hands up to brace for the impact. I understand the instinct to protect himself...but it looked like if he turned in for the ball, he would have taken less of a hit than he did.
  6. My favorite comment came before the Vikes started that long scoring drive: "Oh boy, get ready for some big four yard completions under pressure." Very accurate. That scoring drive ate up the clock and sealed the win for the Bills.
  7. Allow me to introduce you to my younger brother, Dirt. I think my age can be inferred from my movie references.
  8. So.....you're saying it's fun to watch young men expose themselves? And do you like gladiator movies?
  9. I know...I am so excited right now that I think we should draft Josh Allen again next year.
  10. Worse team in the league....the future Buffalo Bill, Joey Bosa, they'd get beat by 'Bama....har dee har har. Can someone see if we can schedule Bama for our bye week? I want to see us kick their @#$#.
  11. Thanks for posting, Kirby. I always enjoy your insights and your posts are one of the reasons I keep coming back here. It's weird how just because you can see something positive...some potential...some people have to go into attack mode. And for those who would suggest you are a kool-aid drinker, I would say that I have a distinct memory of you visiting training camp....sometime over the last few years....and watching the quarterbacks and reporting: none of these guys can play. Maybe it was last year? not sure....but I'm pretty sure that was you. Love your insights and sources....so please keep it up.
  12. I think Harbaugh's tied up in his Michigan contract now....but maybe we could get the genius offensive coordinator who ran his offense in SF to come run ours. I am sure if we hired that guy....what's his name?...it couldn't possibly end badly.
  13. Yep, just like it was the end of that Brady kid when he couldn't get it done against the Steelers in the playoffs, and Belichick had to pull him out and put in Bledsoe who gave them the touchdown pass they needed. Whatever happened to that poor Brady kid?
  14. Kaepernick's stats in his last game. You're RIGHT. Looks almost identical to Peterman's line. 122.3 QBR compared to um...let's see....uh...zero. Yep. Identical. Sun 1/1 vs SEA L 23-25 17 22 215 77.3 9.77 29 1 0 35.1 122.3 5 16 3.2 11 0
  15. I think I am more optimistic than many. While I recognize that the season COULD be a disaster, I am hopeful they are going to be able to pull things together and be pretty decent. I also like these quarterbacks. That said, one has a below avg arm coupled with a love of throwing the ball parallel to the line of scrimmage and the other is a rookie. If I were a betting man, I'd jump on the over for INTs. Bet the house, baby.
  16. Play action, deep middle to Clay behind the safety....dragged down after a 35 yard gain.
  17. For robotics you want Grant Imahara.
  18. And let's not forget EJ Gaines. Our strong defense struggled in games he missed. Not that I think he was great, but last year we had a problem finding a competent 2nd cornerback when he was out....and I am still not sure we have found one.
  19. I followed the link in the post. It says you won't spend 300 bucks for it. It's 500 bucks.
  20. How about 48? mccoy raiders td
  21. I don't understand the almost universal desire to trade for Mack at any cost. I seem to remember that we were collectively unimpressed with him when we played the Raiders and someone who watches the Raiders regularly commented that while he makes spectacular plays, he also takes a lot of plays off. Yes....he is a very good player. But worth this much for a one or two year (with franchise tag) rental? Or willingness to sign to a 20 mill./year contract? I just don't see the value, particularly when we don't have an established quarterback or an offensive line.
  22. I think they should start Peterman, but forbid any Bills receiver from going within five yards of the sidelines if they are within ten yards of the line of scrimmage.
  23. Yes, the black and white thinking is the big problem. Either analytics are right all the time...or the eyeball test is the only way to go. Analytics are extremely useful...but have to understand they are a tool, not an answer. Not only is probability an issue, but have to consider context. I remember several years ago someone was discussing how football should use more analytics. The example they gave was the draft and they argued that teams should draft more guards and safeties in the first round...particularly early in the first round. The reasoning was that quarterbacks, even in the top 10, did not have a high probability of success...but almost every guard or safety drafted early had a good or great career. The context that these analytics failed to recognize was that because guards and safeties have less relative importance than, say QBs, if one is drafted in the first half of the first round, he is probably a generational prospect (e.g. Quenton Nelson). That does NOT mean that teams would be more successful if they started spending all their early draft picks on guards and safeties.
