Optics may be an issue. I can't remember who it was, but a few years ago a quarterback was visibly dazed and was sent back in. The coach claimed he didn't see it, and there was a huge uproar. I think it even prompted the NFL to use spotters to buzz down and have a guy taken out if he looks like that. Even if he passed all the preliminary tests, they may have...given what they saw on tape...decided he needed more testing...and rightly so.

So the Lamar excuses start????

He was one of my favorite posters, too....I hope we can get him back. Maybe this week I will try and dig out my old Kirby Jackson autographed football. It could serve two purposes: bring the Bills luck and act as a Kirby bat signal. -
Mahomes concussion updates

Yeah, it was weird, wasn't it? Never saw much of a blow to the head like the one Lamar took when he hit the ground. But he looked like a boxer who just got rocked and is about to go down. Then, a couple of minutes later he is running to the locker room and looks fine. An odd injury and odd reaction. -
I'd think the Chargers would be a bit nervous about hiring another Bills OC.

It's not a guarantee, but with a good offense (which we have) you can control it to some degree. If you get the ball and there are 6 minutes left, you try to milk the clock with a long drive. If you get the ball back with 1:30 left, you go quick. Think about the Colts game and the Colts completely controlled the game in the first half and were getting ready to take a big lead. They go for it on 4th, don't make it, and the next time they see the ball (other than a few seconds before half), the Bills have scored 10 more points on them and taken the lead.

And they'd already be ready for bed right after the game...dressed in their jammies.

A perfect storm yesterday for the Bills D

I agree. Those errors were not unforced and at the start of the 4th quarter the Colts had only scored 10 points and the Bills were leading by 14. The plan was working. The 4th quarter did not go well...let Colts score too quickly and it reminded of some Bills games earlier in the year. In fact, it was a lot like the Cardinals game only Josh gave up a sack/fumble (though recovered) instead of the interceptions and the defense defensed a hail mary well. So, they played a good team...in the playoffs...and came up with a win. It was actually a very impressive team effort. -
Agreed. I think many people overlooked the Colts and seemed to think they were a week team (even though they were 11-5 and beat the Packers). The Colts can be really tough, played a great game, and it was a huge hurdle cleared for the Bills to beat them. I believe Josh is now the first QB in his class to win a playoff game. That relieves a ton of pressure....just ask Lamar Jackson.

How Good or Bad was our Defense,Really?
fergie's ire replied to Buffaloflash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
May be true of the biggest spots...but in the next biggest spots he's pretty solid. He was 3-0 in wildcard games before yesterday. -
Probably both, but I feel they NEED Williams. They don't seem to trust Singletary in those power running situations (goal line and toward the end of the game). I think Williams could feel that role...give them some angry runs.

It is interesting...and demonstrates Allen's work habits...that the book on him last year was that he could kill zones, but struggled against man to man. Though I don't have numbers, it seems that intermediate passes were really his specialty. It seems like he struggled in one area and worked on it until it was a strength...and when his former strength becomes his weakness he works on that. Last year, against zone, his strength was to be able to rip the ball through seems in the zone, but now he is putting touch on the ball like that great through against SF. His progress really is amazing to watch. He's also so good at learning that I wonder if he is just going to make a habit of killing teams the second time he sees them (like he did against NE and Miami). Once he sees a defense and figures it out, look out. Bodes well if he can get past Indy today. He has seen most of these other teams already.

Bills in the playoffs...as are Frank and Alex Van Pelt. It's like we're getting the band back together. -

I know...and that's a wonderful thing. Sometimes you love a franchise and they become better, win more...but are a-holes....and while you don't want to admit it, and even try to convince yourself it's not true, you know they are a-holes. For example, imagine if we had drafted Big Ben back in the day. But to have this team get good AND be so loveable...and it's our team? Awesome.
