  1. I wonder if we might see vets with some physical issues like Feliciano and even Hughes being held out and eventually winding up on the PUP list. Could be a way to help with the numbers game of the 53 man roster and keep some of the younger players and then not have to make a decision for 6 weeks. By that time, there are likely to have been some injuries that have freed up spots. Could allow extra time to heal and keep older players fresh for later in the season.
  2. That's just wrong headed. The reason to come here is for arguments over whether blocking schemes are philosophies. Get a clue, man.
  3. Nicely written and I agree completely. We can see a trajectory and that trajectory has not leveled off, which is why I think it would be riskier to have Josh go into this season without the extension than it was to have him sign this extension. Every reporter is talking about how much better he is in this training camp than in any camp before...that he is having much better practices than he had even last year. Then would it be surprising if we see ANOTHER leap this year? Not for those of us who have watched every game and seen what you have described. Yes, it is possible that he has a less impressive year statistically and maybe we run the ball more, but it's also very possible that he has an even better year and wins the MVP....and if that happened without an extension that extension would get very expensive.
  4. Got it, I think. So, if Allen signs tomorrow, it sounds like part of that cap room could go toward the first year of the signing bonus, right? They could do something similar to what Dallas did with Dak.
  5. For those who know more about cap numbers than I do, when would we have to start paying on a signing bonus? I know they spread them out over the length of the contract, but does it spread over the last years of the current contract as well? In other words, if Josh signs tomorrow and gets an 8 year extension with an 80 million signing bonus (a crazy number, I know...Mahomes only got 10 million...but I am using a number that makes the math easy) would they pay 10 million a year starting in two years when the extension starts or 8 million a year starting this year and spread out over 10 years.
  6. The pre-season discussion used to be about what marginal talent would make the team (like those listed above), but now it is about what quality players aren't going to make it.
  7. Agreed. The narrative last year was that the Bills had made the playoffs the year because of the weak schedule. Some thought they might even improve, but still not make the playoffs because the schedule was that much tougher.
  8. For old timers there is an AFC East connection. Jacob Eason is the son of Tony Eason, former Patriots "great." Also, I kind of thought the Bills might take him but he went just before they took Fromm. Stylistically, just seemed more like Josh Allen than Fromm is.
  9. .....but then again, aren't we all? Which is why I would list the touchdown throw to Diggs in the Colts playoff game as one of my favorites. Hit him perfectly in stride so he could blow by the defender...and I remember Diggs making Allen throw a ball over in training camp to lead him like that. Agree, needs to do that even more consistently, but when he does it is a thing of beauty.
  10. Watch this and get back to me: Great Chicken Wing Hunt
  11. Yeah, most people can't bring a bottle of tequila in and place it under their seat....but the rules are not same for the rich and/or famous.
  12. Wait....so you're saying the latest Steven Nelson rumors suggest his signing creates a path to us getting Zach Ertz? Sounds like we need a new Zach Ertz thread.
  13. Also, many schools give A+ grades so they work on a 4.3 scale.
  14. I always remember Fitzpatrick crediting his experience as a scout team quarterback as giving him what he needed to be a starting QB. He'd throw passes he knew that HE shouldn't make, but since he was being Aaron Rodgers, he'd let it rip....and it would work. He realized he should let it rip and it gave him success. Yes, it makes him a turnover machine at times, but works more than it doesn't and has given him more success than his talent should afford.
  15. I can't find the "Is Spencer Brown holding out?" thread. Shouldn't we be firing one up for our third round pick about this time of year?
  16. Didn't we have a player on the fringe of the roster who shared something he shouldn't (maybe something from the playbook?) and then was cut a day later? I have a hazy memory of something along those lines happening.
  17. That year? Many of those experts were speculating that we were one of the worst teams of all time (particularly after a player quit at halftime). The discussion for THAT year was if we were better than Alabama. So yeah, going 6-10 that year was impressive.
  18. Last I checked, cruel and unusual punishment is still prohibited by the constitution.
  19. I just heard Josh Norman on Le Batard's podcast. When asked to name the toughest receivers he has gone up against, he named Diggs first and said it was because he was such an incredible route runner and would study corners and set them up. (Btw, the next receive he mentioned was Beasley and said he is the best slot receiver in the game.)
  20. I think you are thinking of The Senator
  21. I just checked. You are right it was indeed 6.5 points. That surprises me because it seemed the general national consensus was that the Bills would be in that 7 and 9 to 9 and 7 range. I guess it was just that everyone knew the Jets were THAT bad.
  22. Yeesh. Anyone able to check the last time we were a touchdown favorite on opening day? That's a lot for a first game, particularly against a team that was a division winner last year.
