Am I the only one who thinks that the most likely way the Jets screw up their franchise is by getting Rodgers? I mean, a quarterback with a great career at a single franchise becomes a malcontent at that franchise until they decide they want to be rid of him. Quarterback gets traded to a team where Hacket is his coach. What could possibly go wrong? It IS possible that Rodgers had an injury last year and, when healed, he will return to form. That is possible. However, there are many who seem that he will revert to MVP form because he has been reunited with Hacket. There is nothing in Hacket's career that makes me think he is an offensive genius who will resuscitate a career. The Jets rebuild to this point reminds me a lot of the Bills. Got ride of expensive malcontents and underperformers, got draft picks and cap room and smartly built a team. The one big difference is that the Jets missed on their quarterback. If they get Rodgers and in so doing lose draft picks and blow their salary cap...and Rodgers doesn't work out, they could destroy their rebuild. The fact that the team that knows him best is eager to get rid of him would give me pause.

Basically it's "Pro Football Debate" quoting something called TD Phins Talk saying there is a report that the Phins are trading Tua and a 3rd to Tampa for a 1st if Lamar is on a non-exclusive tag and then will make Lamar highest paid QB to bring him to Miami. How they would do that with their cap issue and just how reliable this "report" is, I don't know.

If Frazier was pushed out rather than walking out it would seem to fit with something I have noticed about McDermott since day 1. He doesn't call guys out in public but he does make them accountable. When he first got her and cut guys like Sammy Watkins loose and we heard things like "we need our kind of guys" or "some guys just aren't a good fit." We could certainly connect the dots and we heard some stories afterwards about cleaning out bad locker room guys, but he never directly took shots at people....but he did cut them loose. Last year we saw the same thing after thirteen seconds when there were general comments about a lack of communication and/or execution, but nobody specifically called out...but then the special teams coach was let go. McDermott never seems to want to put people on blast, but also won't put up with them. I think the players respect him for that, and it seems like Frazier is another example of this approach.

My strongest emotional response after the Bengals game was "I am so done with Gabe Davis." It is this "giving up" that annoys me so much, not just running routes but contested balls. If he's not open it seems like he barely tries. There's no fight in him. Knox had drops but they were the easy ones...the ones he didn't have to fight for. Not fighting for the ball is worse than a drop in my book. Unfortunately, though I feel done with him, I don't think they can do much to move on now. They wouldn't get much for him. Have to hope he comes back next year with better focus. Before the season I had hoped he would develop into a 1A type receiver and they could trade him for assets, because given what the receiver market was last year wouldn't be able to afford to extend such a receiver...but would have been a great asset to move.

No, they didn't. They said there is a better than a 1 in 3 chance we will lose. There's a good chance we will win, but enough of a chance that we lose that you wouldn't want to bet your life on it.

I think that Bruce's strength worked against him on that one. The way he yanked Esiason down it looked like he must have had the facemask, but he didn't.

Actually, they beat the Jets in the final game. In the penultimate game they beat Atlanta. Two bad teams and the games were close but the Bills pulled away late to win by 17 and 14...much like you describe them doing this year.

The conference championships are scheduled for Jan. 29th. The Super Bowl is Feb. 12th. That's two weeks. The only thing scheduled for Feb. 5th is the Pro Bowl Skills competition in Vegas.

Yeah, fortunately I have missed those. In these days I have come to expect the worst from people but I was pleasantly surprised last night at well everyone (with the exception of the NFL) reacted. The announcers, the studio team, the coaches, players, fans (Bills and Bengals) were all supportive and thoughtful.

Yeah, if you go in thinking it is chili and judge it on those terms, you probably won't like it. Cincinnati Chili is its own thing...a kind of sauce on spaghetti not a tex-mex chili.
