  1. I've only been a football fan for 10 years or so, but I'd say my two favorite players are lynch and gronkowski. love to watch luck and rodgers play as well.
  2. I think there is more legitimacy to being compared to your peers than your comment would indicate. NFL.com's best scout/media analyst Daniel Jeremiah does a really nice podcast every week called "Move the Sticks." A month or two ago, he went into a detailed explanation of how changing college offensive systems and better college conditioning programs mean that WR prospects are more ready coming into the league (as rookies) than they have ever been before. The standard is different now. Passing stats have undergone serious inflation over the last 10 years for all WRs and rookie are more pro-ready coming out than they were in past decades. Watkins needs to be held to this new, higher standard. Yes his statistics comparable favorably to historical rookie stats, but several of his peers blew him out of the water statistically. All that being said, I still believe in Watkins - but it's because I believe he was hampered by injuries and a lack of surrounding talent (coaching staff included).
  3. Beyond Cooper, the Raiders' receiving corps is a total disaster - he's not going to get eased in. I think the most common pre-draft refrain about Cooper was that he was 'pro-ready' and could 'run the whole route tree.' Very hard for me to get a read on him in terms of fantasy. Sorry though, I don't want to this derail this thread - should be about Watkins. Thanks, that's helpful. Still, I worry about Watkins health more than anything else with him - I feel pretty confident the ability and work ethic are there.
  4. I believe that they can be a quality duo, but that almost of the quality will come from Cooper's end. I could be wrong, though. I have asked this before on a few threads, but have yet to receive a satisfactory answer: How serious is the hip injury / surgery that Sammy sustained? Any examples of strong seasons by WRs following the injury?
  5. Cooper is going to ball out - but I have no faith in Carr. Still, would not surprise me if Cooper had the best career between him, ODB, Evans, and Watkins.
  6. can he deliver a winning season?
  7. somewhere, fred jackson sighs. shady is certainly not what i have come to think of as "a bill" (the kyle, fred type). hopefully he's good enough on the field to offset this shenanigans.
  8. i cant find it now, but i remember someone put up a thread about meeting whaley at a bills backers thingy. the OP said that whaley told them something along the lines of 'we are making all of our financial decisions keeping in mind that dareus and gilmore are supremely important and resigning them will be our highest priority.' i doubt JO ok'd anything that he though would comprise our ability to resign either of them.
  9. my main takeaways from this thread: 1 - EJ is good 2 - EJ sucks
  10. wait wait wait wait wait - what! pictures please!
  11. With the exception of Donnie Henderson (granted, position coaching is a totally different animal) - I believe Pettine was the best coach we have in the building in the last 10 years. Maybe I'm a sucker for guys who give good interviews, but the dude comes off as incredibly reasonable and intelligent in everything he discusses. [ I also quite like Roman - I just want to see him put it on the field with our roster before I go handing out superlatives. ]
  12. Teddy Bridgewater had quite a good rookie season.
  13. ...f*ck... looks like i have some hacking to do
  14. yes, this is the guy.
  15. 0.1 BN / 1.4 BN = 7% is a little low, but for a relatively safe investment, it's not a terrible ROI. typically though, you are correct, if it was just about the money they'd likely have looked for something closer to 15%.
  16. very serious charges. dude has (had?) a lot a talent too.
  17. didn't know where to drop this, so i decided to leave it here... mario's wedding gift to hughes was absurd: https://twitter.com/Iam_jerryhughes/status/622231699695386624
  18. marshawn gronkowski luck keuchly dez
  19. clicked this thread to comment comping it to houston's deal. feel really good about the numbers we signed hughes at now that we're seeing these new-salary-cap contracts come in.
  20. thorough article with some insightful, statistical breakdowns, thanks yolo. i still believe in ej - and i think if there's anyone who can get it out of him, its roman. really hoping ej follows through on his post-benching promise to "let it rip."
  21. wait so does he have to kill their family now, or what?
