Good luck to him. For whatever reason, he hasn't been a good fit here and it's time to move on.

I kind of agree, but the rate of decline in the second half of the year has been alarming for a WR group that has already been in need of a major upgrade for at least a couple of years. And aside from Shakir, that group didn't do themselves any favors yesterday, either. Yes, the defense got torched by KC, but they were getting torched by KC a couple of years ago before age and injuries set in. Chiefs averaged 40 ppg in the prior two playoff games against the Bills. The Chiefs clearly know how to attack this defensive scheme and unless the Bills know how to find two or three All Pros, they're going to get their yards and points.
-
That isn't necessarily Brady's fault. There's not enough time in the middle of the year to change the entire system. He wasn't perfect, but this offense certainly improved once he took over for Dorsey and I think he did a good job under the circumstances.

If they were to trade Diggs after June 1st, it would save them $19 million on the 2024 salary cap. Of course, that also means that if the trade were for a draft pick, it would have to be for 2025, and would also push a portion of the dead cap into 2025. I'm not saying they should do it, just that it's not impossible.

The Bills defense didn't hold them at all. The only reason KC didn't score more points is because the Bills offense controlled the clock.

2020s Buffalo Bills are The Miami Dolphins of the 90s
Brandon replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ironically, I'd compare them to the Chiefs of the early 1990s. They weren't one-dimensional and had plenty of all-around talent, but an overly conservative approach from the coaching staff and front office largely prevented them from advancing to the Super Bowl. -
Im actually frustrated the Chiefs played their best game in 2 months.

The Bills defense sucks against a good team with an elite QB, especially in the playoffs. This isn't new. -
To reiterate the point...134 points allowed in their last four playoff games, despite all of the resources poured into the defense. There's an old saying about the definition of insanity that might apply.
-
They do have more needs on defense, I agree, and will need to add more players on that side. But if you have an elite QB, you build around him and give him the weapons he needs to succeed. Right now, they have a huge hole at WR2 and an apparently declining WR1. They should have done more the last two years, but it absolutely must be addressed this offseason. I don't think they can 'fix' this defense enough, anyway. The Bills have poured a ton of resources into the DL and DBs over the last several years. Their defense has allowed 107 points in 3 playoff games against KC. 134 points allowed in their last four playoff games including Cincy. They need to fill the holes as best they can, but their strategy of pouring resources into defensive personnel is not working.

Realistically, I don't think it's an option. It would be exorbitantly expensive to move up from 28 to the top 3.
-
Wide receiver. The same thing they should have the last two offseasons.
-
Xavier Legette IS a WR.
-
They were horrible, yes. Unfortunately, I fully expect that Beane and McDermott will overreact to it and heavily prioritize defense again this offseason, with the same futile results.
-
Xavier Legette would be my selection as well. With Shakir stepping up, you may as well swing for the fences at 28. Then take another one no later than R4.
-
Agreed, but after the second half of this season, I would not restructure Diggs' contract unless I had no choice. I'd also be adding Von Miller to the list of players to release, though they'd probably need to do it after June 1st. But yes, it's time to cull the declining players and dead weight.
-
All else being equal, I'd definitely select a WR at 28, and depending on how it plays out, I might select another one in R2.
-
Should they? Probably. Will they? No.
-
They can eat that contract if they need to, but there may be an injury issue or something we don't know about. They also need to cull a lot of dead weight that's more of a problem, both on the field and in terms of cap impact, than the kicker. If they think they can fix Bass, I'm fine with giving him another chance.

Anyone else more low-key about this loss than you thought you'd be?
Brandon replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, I am not upset about it. I knew this team probably didn't have the firepower offensively to win it all, anyway. Add in all of the defensive injuries and their chances were that much worse. -
I wouldn't say that it's all due to the failure to acquire one particular player, but yes, the front office deserves considerable blame for not adequately addressing the WR position the last two seasons.

Allen was legendary (even better than 13 seconds Allen)

That tends to happen when the QB gets hit during the throw.- 264 replies

They'd be whining if Allen had passed up that wide open throw to Shakir in the back of the endzone, too, if the Bills lost the game anyway. Allen played well. Shakir did as well and I can't blame Allen for looking in that direction when the game was on the line. He was the only WR they could count on today.- 264 replies

The pass offense still doesn't look right...right?

If there was ever a year to do it, this is it. -

It's the near total ineffectiveness of the 'other' outside WR opposite Diggs. -
Can they activate Zach Davidson for next week? He has experience as a punter in college. Might be a backup option if Martin can't play next week.
