  1. I would never argue that he was a starting caliber player. Just that he had value as a reserve and that if he has to start due to an injury, 2022 would seem to indicate that you can get some decent mileage out of him as a stopgap.
  2. Apparently, it's a money issue. The RFA tender would cost them $3m.
  3. To a certain extent. It was a difference of 18 attempts his way. Regardless, once you factor in the contracts of those four vs Hodgins on a rookie 6th round contract, it seems to me that the Giants got the better end of that one. You're kind of making my point here for me, though. He's a 4th/5th WR type that can be a competent stopgap starter if you need him to be. Those guys the Bills signed? Eh, I don't know about that.
  4. Well, at least he was somewhat effective, as opposed to the guys that the Bills had.
  5. Well, the Giants DID get more production out of him over the last two years than the Bills did from Sherfield, Harty, Kumerow and Crowder combined.
  6. He's a veteran depth signing to play special teams and compete with Shorter at the bottom of the WR rotation. Some of you act like this is the first time you've watched a Bills' offseason. Beane signs these types of guys every year in order to give himself options heading into the draft and to act as a backstop if the draft goes against them.
  7. I think the Bills will be targeting either Worthy or Legette.
  8. I would not expect anything more than a mid round draft pick or another low cost veteran stopgap at DE at this stage.
  9. That's excellent news. He's a very good player and I doubt the Bills could do better in that price range.
  10. I think it's just Beane trying to get the cap situation under control this year.
  11. It's going about as I expected so far and I never thought they'd make any major FA additions. If they can re-sign Daquan Jones and find a decent starting safety at a bargain price, I'll consider it a success from here.
  12. The money saved this year is spread out over the remaining life of the contract (including this year). The main downside is that it increases the cap hit in future years. Its possible to keep doing it every year as long as the amounts being pushed into future years are less than the annual salary cap increases.
  13. I would expect a contract extension for Taron Johnson as well. He's on the last year of his contract and has a current year cap hit over $12M.
  14. Which means the Bills will get a 7th.
  15. I expect them to sign a competent veteran as a stopgap and then draft one in the 1st round, with another in the mid rounds.
  16. Not interested.
  17. Disappointing, but I'm never terribly surprised when the league front office screws the Bills on compensatory picks. I'm just glad it wasn't a 7th.
  18. Aside from restructurings, it seems likely that they're going to need to do something with Taron Johnson's contract. I expect them to announce a contract extension soon.
  19. Again, depending on the contract, I like it. If he has to play, at least there's some talent there to work with. At worst, he should be better than Kyle Allen.
  20. Depending on the contract structure...and I expect it's team friendly...I do like this signing and it's one I expected. He's young, he's been in the system for a year, plays aggressively (maybe a bit too much) and I thought he played pretty well later in the season before the injury.
  21. On the other had, it's still a lot of money. Had the Bills released him instead, I doubt he gets that type of deal anywhere else.
  22. It's sounds like they turned a big chunk of his base salary into incentives. For now, it's a pay cut, but with the opportunity to make it all back plus some.
  23. I wasn't aware of that provision of his contract. That probably explains why he's still on the roster.
  24. Actually, I wish they'd designate Von as a post June 1st cut.
