Lionel Gates is killing these Packer reserve defenders.

Anyone starting to think competition for the
Brandon replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bad idea, I think. They've named JP the starter and you don't yank it out from under him at this point for no reason. Now, if he's hideous in the next four games and Holcomb plays well, its a different story, but as long as Losman's development appears to be on track, it should be his job. For the record, JP did a lot to make me believe that he can develop into, at the very least, a solid starting NFL QB. I was most impressed by his confidence and poise. If a QB has that, the rest can be taught. -
Nice catch and run by Neufeld. In the regular season, I think the Bills replay that one and its a TD. Rashard Lee in for the TD.
-
Unfortunately, it WILL happen. Realistically, you've got to expect a first year starter to make some mistakes, and some of them will be pretty bad. But remember, even the best veteran Qbs sometimes make really dumb throws. The key is whether or not JP learns from his mistakes and corrects them. Its inevitable that they're going to happen.
-
Its going to happen occasionally. JP is going to make some bad passes this year and he's going to take some unnecessary sacks. Even the good young Qbs make bad plays, sometimes a lot of them. Manning tossed almost 30 INTs as a rookie. Its all part of the learning process.

It appeared to be Teague's fault. He turned around immediately after the snap to watch the ball rolling on the ground behind him. I kind of take that as an admission of guilt.
-
That one he missed downfield was amazing. I was mad, as the cameraman followed McGahee for a sure loss of 5, only to see Losman suddenly throw the ball out of the top corner of the screen. It fooled everyone. BTW, JP just made his first dumb throw that should have been picked and returned for TD.
-
That certainly wasn't the case. I was suprised at how confident he looked out there tonight. *Very* suprised, actually, and impressed. Its not a real game or anything, but tonight was nothing but a big plus for JP.

The offense looks good. Again, the run blocking needs improvement, but the passing game looked very good to excellent with Losman at the helm (I suspect we'll now see the backup QBs). Losman looked confident and made the right decisions throwing the ball, even if he misfired a couple of passes. He also got the ball out quickly and decisively. None of that patting the ball for 5 seconds before the inevitable sack. He played a lot better than I expected. The defense was its normal self, meaning it was very good on the first drive. Favre probably could've hit a long pass to Walker against McGee, but Terrence had pretty good coverage and Favre overthrew him. The one guy who really impressed me on the first D series was Kelsay. He didn't get to Favre, but their RT was having a lot of problems blocking him.
-
Yeah, I noticed it too. I was very impressed with his play on that first drive. Their RT could not block him.
-
They're getting 10 plays, I think, regardless of whether they actually get a first down.
-
SACK!!! Sam Adams.
-
-Nate just had a near-pick of Brett Favre. Also, Kelsay is giving the Packers RT some problems.
-
-Run blocking has been a bit iffy early in this scrimmage. Gandy hasn't been an obvious weak point in pass protection. -Losman looked good on the first drive. 3/4 passing, two first downs. His miss was due to the CB (Carroll) holding against Lee Evans. He was also decisive and got the ball out quickly. -Moulds had a nice catch, breaking a tackle for a first down. -Parrish also made a good catch on an out pattern on third down. -McGee probably would've had a TD on the opening kickoff had it been a real game, though you wonder how hard the Packers were pursuing (the Packers PR also had a big return).
-
It is on, at least where I am.

Would you trade Moulds for Corey Simon?
Brandon replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. The Bills need the consistency on offense right now that a veteran like Moulds can provide. If they trade him, they take away a reliable target from JP Losman at a time when he needs someone he can rely on. If they're intent on sending them a WR, look no further than Josh Reed. He doesn't have much value in a trade, but of all of our WRs, I think he's the most likely to be involved if a trade were to occur. I don't think he makes this roster anyway, and if Donahoe can get a mid/late round pick (or the equivalent) for him, he'll probably take it instead of cutting him outright at the end of the preseason. And with Todd Pinkston's injury, the Eagles might just be willing to listen to an offer involving Reed. -
JP lucked out as far as the scrimmage goes!
Brandon replied to The Riddler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What kinds of mistakes is JP making? Does he appear to be making the right reads and decisions and just misfiring and mis-timing some of his passes, or is he making dumb decisions, throwing to covered recievers, holding the ball too long, running too soon, etc? -
A few qiuck hits from today's session
Brandon replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on, Bill. You know that you can easily find good OL late in the draft, don't you? Those guys are a dime a dozen. And that coaching staff can make any 300lb fat guy into a quality OL. Or not. We hear this crap every year and the Bills always field a weak OL. -
DL Wendell Bryant released by Cardinals
Brandon replied to Dennis in NC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ted Washington was considered an underachiever early in his career as well. I believe he was either released or traded to Denver, where he played one year before signing with the Bills as a FA. That's not to say that Wendell Bryant is another Ted Washington. Heck, I'm not even saying I'd definitely try to sign him, but I also wouldn't write off a former high 1st round pick so quickly, especially when he plays on a putrid team. He may just need a change of scenery. -

He should know. The turnstiles the Bills management put at RT after Ballard left had a large contribution to the end of Kelly's career.

Madden 2006 (Will it just be a roster update?)
Brandon replied to MrLocke's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll buy it, but mainly because I didn't buy last year's version and want the roster updates. $40 is otherwise a lot for basically the same game I bought in 2000. -
Who here thinks that Evans will have
Brandon replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only do I think he'll have more TDs than Moulds, I also believe he'll have more yardage and possibly more receptions as well. -
Jets 11-5 Pats 9-7 Bills 9-7 Dolphins 4-12 Right now, I think the Jets will probably end up winning the division. They don't have a roster of 22 all-pro starters, but its a solid group that is certainly capable of a strong showing, especially with a healthy Pennington. The hideous schedule as well as the losses of both coordinators will hurt the Pats, but if they can make the playoffs, they'll be a major threat in spite of a subpar regular season record. The Dolphins... are floating belly up at the top of the fish bowl. As for the Bills, if the lightbulb were to go on and Losman 'gets it' early this year, there is more than enough talent on the roster for them to be in the hunt for a division championship. That said, I expect it to take him about half the season to get settled in to the point where he becomes something resembling reliable. Much like the Pats, if they can find a way to make the playoffs, they'll probably be a serious threat as the weak point of the team, Losman, should be much more comfortable in the offense by this time. Still, I think '06 is probably the year they really begin to make some noise.
