He's stinking it up, but he's not getting a lot of help, either from his teammates or the coaching staff. For all the crap about asking him to not lose games this past offseason, the Bills have done just the opposite. They run McGahee 15-20 times per game behind an inadequate OL. Losman has become the focus of the offense and the results are about what should be expected.
-
Its a stupid move. The Bills are down by 6. Losman should be given the chance to play his way out of the slump. If they want to replace him with Holcomb, that's fine, but do it during the week, not in a situation like this. This is twice Mularkey has done this to Losman and I don't think its a positive for Losman or the team.

Statistically, he is putting up very, VERY similar numbers to those posted by Donovan McNabb through 10 weeks in his rookie season. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/game...NaDo00.htm#1999

Actually, Rob Johnson was a very accurate passer for most of his Bills career, something that his career completion percentage (61%) indicates.

It doesn't qualify as a dropped INT in mine, either, but it seems that some believe that if a defender gets a fingernail on a pass, that's a near-interception (whatever that means). I prefer to call those 'nearly intercepted' passes what they really are: incompletions. He's also barely missed a few passes for first downs. Note that no one is counting those in his favor, as well they shouldn't. Incomplete is incomplete. The truth is, every QB in the league throws a few passes a game that the defense has a chance at. I'm only concerned with the ones that ARE intercepted, as well as the ones where Losman hits the defender between the numbers and are dropped (I believe that has happened twice). I don't care about the others that end up hitting the turf.

Parrish and Everett - will make a difference

There was a little sarcasm there aimed at the Bills front office. I'm beginning to believe that they think its a sin to have a good OL. -

You'll get no argument from me. I think the Bills need to clean house from LT to C, and actually invest a few draft picks over there. I know, its horrible to say, but a few talented players would be nice. -
How's Roethlisberger looking tonight?

I think you and everyone else on the board also know that Roethlisberger is much more of an abberation than the rule among Qbs. -

I disagree. The Bills have no speed offensively. Evans is fast, but if you can shut him down, who else is a downfield threat? Moulds was three or four years ago. He's not anymore. Reed and Aiken have very average speed. TEs? Campbell has good hands and finds ways to get open, but you could probably time him in the 40 with a sundial. Euhus isn't much better. The fact that the Bills drafted Parrish and Everett when they had an expansion caliber offensive line is evidence that the Bills coaching staff and management feels they have a major lack of speed as well. -

They could have an enormous impact even if they don't post big numbers. Opposing defenses will be forced to respect their speed and it will likely pull some coverage away from Evans and Moulds. -

How many career starts does Roethlisberger have? How many does Losman have? The development of a QB is not an overnight process. I think it usually takes three full seasons before a final judgement can be made, two at the least, and it usually takes about 5 years before they reach their full potential. -
Its scary when the Pats fan is the voice of reason.

The Packers started off 3-6 that year. I wonder what Favre's game-by-game stats were during that period. Was he playing well or poorly? I don't know. Another player to look at is Donovan McNabb. The statlines from the first six games he played look a lot like what Losman has done so far.

JP Losman is the reincarnation of ...
Brandon replied to grabowr30045's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there is a bright side to Spikes's injury, that indeed might be it. A weakened D would give them an excuse to open up the offense and put Losman into a lot more 3 and 4 WR situations, something he was very familiar with at Tulane. They need to be doing that anyway, because it seems to me that he's much more comfortable when they spread the defense out with multiple WRs. -

That's pretty rare. Most young Qbs are mediocre and often terrible. Troy Aikman was hideous his first two seasons, with Dallas going 8-24 during that time. We all know what happened just two years later. That's one example. The history of the NFL is littered with more. Three games into Losman's NFL career, I think I'll reserve judgement. -
I suspect that if you pull up the posts, you'll find that the same ones were whining about JP after the first preseason game.
-
Three games into the season (and after two bad games), sorry, I do not think it is time to bench Losman. I want to see him play for an extended period of time before I decide that we should give up on him.
-
I'm willing to be patient. As I've said numerous times, first year starting QBs are notoriously bad, especially when put behind weak OLs and with mostly slow WRs to throw to. His numbers to this point look similar to Donovan McNabb's through his first 6 games (30/72, 226 yards, 3.2 yards/attempt, 1 INT). Its a little too early for the crying and the whining.

Here's a newsflash- Our o-line sucks

Drew deserved plenty of blame in his own right, just as Losman does for the losses the last two weeks. -

Yep. A rookie QB and a third rate OL are not a recipe for success in the NFL. -
You guys cannot try to blame WM for this one
Brandon replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no way anyone could blame McGahee for this. He had one of the best games of his career, maybe THE best. The OL? Pass protection should be re-named jailbreak in their case, but I agree, ultimately the blame falls on a D that allowed over 200 rushing yards. -
It was a complete no-confidence call in the OL. Mularkey was basically saying that he did not believe his OL could block long enough to execute a handoff to McGahee and for him to get a yard in that situation.
-
But we won't miss Jonas Jennings. No! In fact, our OL might actually be better without him.
-
Three years?

Who knows? McGahee only has about 150 yards today.
