  1. The Bills lost both games and both Qbs did their share to contribute to those losses. In my opinion, the two situations are very comparable.
  2. He committed three turnovers in that game, not one. Two fumbles, one interception. I think he even fumbled one more time that the Bills recovered. I'm not blaming him solely for that loss, simply pointing out that he was hardly infallible in his own playoff appearance and that his turnovers did partially contribute to the Bills demise.
  3. I agree, Flutie most certainly would have won that game, much like he won the playoff game against Miami the previous year. Oh wait...
  4. I've already said that I was in a hurry when I posted that and made a mistake concerning the DL and DB comparison. I counted one extra DL, which I believe was Gabe Northern, who played mostly LB for the Bills. I stand by my count of 13 DBs from 1990 until the present. http://www.drafthistory.com/teams/bills.html
  5. I had initially planned to split the DBs, DLs and OL, but didn't have time and couldn't remember some of the more obscure players and whether they drafted to play CB or S, for example. And you are correct about the DL being equal. I was in a hurry when I did that and its an obvious mistake.
  6. I did a quick hand count of the players taken in the draft since 1990, and here's what I came up with. First day picks are in parenthesis: DBs--31 (13) LBs--13 (7) DEs--9 (6) DTs--12 (6) OL--27 (7) TE--10 (2) WR--23 (6) RBs--14 (5) QBs--6 (5) P--1 They've taken more DBs in the draft than any other position, including TWICE as many DBs on the first day of the draft as they have at any other position. This really shows the team's neglect of their OLs over the years. They've picked enough DBs on the first day of the draft to turn over the starting backfield 3 times. They've barely picked enough OL to do it ONCE in 17 YEARS.
  7. That's exactly why its a problem. They're constantly cycling through defensive backs at a cost of being able to draft 1st round prospects at other positions.
  8. The reason why I do not like to see the Bills draft DBs in the 1st is because, for a variety of reasons, they don't resign them after their initial contracts. Given that it takes about half their initial contract to reach full potential, it seems awfully wasteful to me.
  9. Ooooohhhh, I'll stop now, you got me with that one.
  10. I never said it was a guaranteed way to improve the team, nor did I say the Bills should use their #1 pick on an OL, so you can keep your to yourself.
  11. I'm not predicting doom and gloom. I think the team overall is moving in the right direction. But I've also seen enough from the Bills for the last decade plus that I'm highly skeptical of their willingness to put their money where their mouth is in regards to the OL. Their OL philosophy seems to be to sign/draft several of them and hope one or two pan out. Quantity over quality.
  12. This probably means the Bills will draft their OL in rounds 4 and 6 this year instead of the 5th and 7th. Same old crap we hear every year and the end result will likely be the same as it always is.
  13. Even if the Bills somehow manage to retain Clements, it still would not totally shock me to see them draft a CB. If there's one thing I've learned, its to never underestimate the Bills' willingness to draft a CB in R1 come hell or high water.
  14. Almost five months before the draft, I think they'll probably take a CB. Its always a reasonably safe bet. The number of DBs this team has taken in R1 since 1990 borders upon ridiculous.
  15. 3/12 for 33 yards and 3 INTs just before halftime.
  16. I doubt the Bills will win any tiebreakers due to strength of schedule, but 13th wouldn't be a bad position at all. The last time the Bills had the 13th pick, they selected Lee Evans.
  17. http://www.profootballreference.com/games/McGaWi00.htm#2006 His production dating back to the bye week last year has been less than stellar. I'm all for giving guys a chance to play out of a slump, but McGahee has been very ordinary for a season and a half now. He's crossed 100 yards just three times in that period. I don't know whether I'm ready for the Bills to move on yet, but I do think they'd be wise to bring in some quality competition this offseason at the position if possible.
  18. No suprise there. The Bills very rarely rush the passer well against better teams. The exception is New England, where Schobel seems to have Matt Light's number. Otherwise, the pass rush is usually non-existent against playoff contenders.
  19. I don't think that pass would have been a TD, nor do I think it was underthrown. McAlister simply made a great play on it.
  20. Rich Gannon
  21. Its getting more than a little annoying, alright. Losman has played well to this point in the game, especially given the fact that they've got no running game whatsoever.
  22. That's a pretty accurate description, IMO. McGahee actually reminds me an awful lot of another former Bills RB, Antowain Smith in that regard. Given a choice on third and 1, I think both would rather try to run around a defender than over him.
  23. I agree. I'm not that disappointed with this loss. This team has exceeded my expectations and has improved steadily since the bye. There is a lot of room for improvement, but a lot of positives to build on. I think they definitely took a major step forward this season.
  24. He threw Price to the ground after they were 5 yards out of bounds.
  25. Schobel grabbed the FB by the facemask and spun him around as he went by on the pass rush. It was a legit call.
