  1. How prophetic Don Henley was. And that song is 25 freakin' years old. Go figure.
  2. I propose we go after illegal Canadian immigrants.
  3. I gotta go with Patrick Willis. The Bills need big, fast linebackers. Preferably, more than one.
  4. Good analogy, but to me Russell's an even bigger version of Jared Lorenzen, that 300 lb QB that Kentucky had a few years back. He now rides the pine for the Giants. I think Culpepper proves it...there is such a thing as being too big to play quarterback in the NFL.
  5. I'm only 50 miles from Wooster. Know the town pretty well. I saw your comment on the Daily Record website...I'm sorry for your loss.
  6. Read the story in ESPN magazine...very fascinating.
  7. I'm very impressed with this Derek O'Dell, who is being hailed as a hero for barricading one of the classrooms. I believe he was the kid with his arm in the sling (he was shot in the right arm). Well-spoken young man, but you can tell that the enormity of everything that has happened has not yet hit him. Mr. O'Dell will need time, and plenty of it, to grieve. I can understand your mindset regarding the media vultures. The story, however, has to be reported. Thirty-two people, minding their own business at a picturesque school in the Blue Ridge on a cold Monday morning, are dead. And no one knows why. What I can't stand is the second guessing. I heard it last night on local radio here...why weren't classes cancelled? Why weren't students notified earlier? Why wasn't more done? Are the leaders at VT supposed to turn their school into a freakin' armed camp? I think, considering the circumstances, the campus leaders and police did everything they could. No one could have predicted something like this. We've become a nation of second-guessers. And it isn't just sports anymore. We all feel like our lives should be perfect and that we should be protected one hundred percent of the time. It's become an entitlement. But life throws us too many curveballs and variables that expose our vulnerability...and we blame those who we think should have "done something" about it. When nothing, really, can be done at all.
  8. My wife named him Doggie when she got him in 1989 because he looked like "a little dog" in her words. His original name was Romeo, which I believe she should have kept. Remember that I didn't come into the picture until 1997. He had dystemper when she got him at the age of four months, and she literally nursed him back to health with a baby bottle. In fact, she was told why bother, he won't last the week. Again, this was in freakin' March 1989. And he is our baby, since we have no children. But the name does confuse the vets' office quite a bit.
  9. Hey now! I have one of those and I like it!
  10. What's the secret Water Buffalo Lodge password again?
  11. Mods, please move. I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. Thank you.
  12. It's the one in my profile pic with the lovely and talented Kimberly. His name is Doggie (age 18) and Kim took him to the vet today because he has been vomiting and staying up all night, which is very unusual behavior. This cat survived dystemper when he was a kitten and colon cancer four years ago. Today, the vet said the cancer may have returned, and Doggie may have renal failure. At this point, the vet says Doggie may have two weeks. We have not decided regarding euthanasia yet. I don't want him to be put to sleep. This cat is, and has been in the almost 10 years I've known him, a survivor. The day comes when all pets die, and I've never had to experience something like this before. It's a cat, but when he goes, I wonder how I will handle it emotionally. I just talked with Kim. I could hear her heart breaking in her voice.
  13. #14...in honor of Frank Reich and the Greatest Comeback.
  14. team-swapping whores ARE eligible to participate, but are also subjected to our ridicule whenever we please. I think this is a shot at me, but I'm not sure. My picks: Sept. 9 DENVER BRONCOS -- Win Sept. 16 @ Pittsburgh Steelers -- Loss Sept. 23 @ New England Patriots -- Loss Sept. 30 NEW YORK JETS -- Win Oct. 8 DALLAS COWBOYS -- Win Oct. 21 BALTIMORE RAVENS -- Loss Oct. 28 @ New York Jets -- Win Nov. 4 CINCINNATI BENGALS -- Loss Nov. 11 @ Miami Dolphins -- Win Nov. 18 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -- Win Nov. 25 @ Jacksonville Jaguars -- Loss Dec. 2 @ Washington Redskins -- Win Dec. 9 MIAMI DOLPHINS -- Win Dec. 16 @ Cleveland Browns -- Win Dec. 23 NEW YORK GIANTS -- Win Dec. 30 @ Philadelphia Eagles -- Loss 10-6 and one of the wildcards.
  15. Yahoo has confirmed Imus has been fired. He did say an incredibly dumb and insensitive thing. But the analysis of this has been done to death, so I won't add my two cents here. I'm not the right race or political persuasion, so nobody in the media cares what I have to say anyway.
  16. GO SABRES!!! Beat the Gorton's Fishermen!!
  17. The farthest south they go (of course) is Miami. But this is unusual...the westernmost city the Bills travel to? Cleveland. All of the other road games are East...Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, Jacksonville, etc. This should help the team avoid jet lag and be fresher when game time approaches.
  18. On this site? Me and EndZoneCrew. Maybe SilvernRed. That's about it. Plus most Clevelanders and at least 19,000 Milwaukeeans. Anyone else, let me know by adding to this thread. Since they are the parent club of the Bisons, I would think there would be some Tribe fans in WNY.
  19. You are correct, sir! Last home Bills MNF game was September 26, 1994. Bills over Denver, 27-20. That game was 5,000 fans short of a sellout. According to the Bills' media guide (where I found the above info), Conlan only played for the Bills through 1992. It may be a typo, however...I thought he played in Buffalo longer than that. And I just realized something else...I believe October 8 is Columbus Day, so it's a holiday, too.
  20. That bar that sits north of RWS after a home loss to the Dolphins.
  21. An update...I got back from the hospital a little while ago. The small bowel series was actually cut short. The radiologist I spoke with said things seem pretty good in there! I am waiting on official word from my gastro doctor, but everything looks OK right now. I asked my mom to bring me some matzo ball soup from my favorite deli. I know I can handle that. I was going to take a nap, but the Prednisone is keeping me up right now. Thank you for all your prayers and kind wishes, and I will let you know if anything else happens. It is a testament to the power of prayer and the grace of God.
  22. December 16...the Bills long-awaited trip to Cleveland!!!
  23. Thanks for the kind wishes. As of right now, it's sunny, about 40 degrees, and all the snow is melting.
  24. Well, as most of you know, the Tribe had the entire series against Seattle snowed out. We had (unofficially) 16 inches of snow at Jacobs Field. So, the Tribe has to go to Milwaukee to play the Angels. It wouldn't surprise me if some people actually drove there from Cleveland. On a serious note, I became very sick after eating Saturday night and was out of commission all day Easter Sunday. Yesterday I went to the doctor, and he says that it is probably a flare up of my Crohn's Disease. I will be getting more tests done, including a small bowel series, tomorrow. That's the test where you drink the yummy barium, which looks like milk but tastes like Mountain Dew that's sat out in the sun too long, and the radiologists take x-rays. I've already had x-rays and bloodwork done at the hospital last night. The doctor gave me the option of being admitted into the hospital to wait for the other test, but all I wanted to do was go home. I am feeling better today, but I have not eaten since Saturday. So, remember me in your thoughts and prayers. Worst-case scenario is they snake a tube down my throat, through my tummy, all the way into my small intestine. Best-case is that some Prednisone (sp?) and Nexium take care of it. Since Prednisone is a steroid, I guess that quashes my dreams of playing baseball.
