  1. Happy Belated Natal Anniversary, Ed!
  2. That's what he was gonna tell Roger Goodell anyway.
  3. Yes, and I'm stuck in Cleveland without Versus on my cable and having to watch the Hack-A-Lebron saga of the NBA Playoffs. That, and every Cavalier playoff game seems to have scores like 79-76. This sucks. Just once in the next few years, I'd love to see a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup. Hasn't happened in the last 15 years. Since 1999 and "No Goal" (sorry to bring it up), has a Stanley Cup final ended in sudden death? And was 1999 the only time in NHL history? Any in a Game 7?
  4. Yes, happy b-day to the three of you.
  5. Now they'll have TWO full baseball teams.
  6. That's what I get for skimming through these posts.
  7. Stop by Sibley Hospital. That's where I was born, believe it or not. Yes, it's true. Buckeyemike is NOT a native-born Ohioan. I was born in DC, and my family lived in Northern VA. In all seriousness, I highly recommend the Vietnam Memorial (maybe the most poignant place I've ever been) and the National Air & Space Museum and the American History Museum at the Smithsonian. My parents actually met at the Washington Monument, so that's also a place I hold in high regard.
  8. You know, the first time I saw this thread, I was wondering what that SOB Jim Cantore had done now.
  9. A car that's twice as old as she is? Really? BTW, this is why I love Canadian and British papers...just put a scantily-clad hottie on Page 3 and your sales will explode.
  10. Correct. The ones from Ohio are made in Marysville, a town north of Columbus. BTW, I'm looking at a Dodge Avenger. I drove one in Florida and I really liked it. I just don't know if I can swing one by June 2 to get the gas deal.
  11. Yes! My wife actually likes "Deadliest Catch" better than I do. Probably has something to do with "The Perfect Storm"...I turned Kim on to that movie when it came out and she couldn't get enough of it. It was the first DVD we ever had.
  12. I only watch the NBA if LeBron is involved. That said, I hate the Pistons with a passion.
  13. Just noticed, so I deleted the date post.
  14. I'd love to donate, but there's one problem: May 14 is a Wednesday. EDIT: Just checked the news release in the link. It's dated 2005.
  15. What I wanna know is where The Dean is. I miss his posts. Always entertaining, knowledgeable, and sarcastic. He hasn't been here for about six weeks.
  16. No love for J-Lo, eh? I've never been much for the chicks on TWC, but J-Lo's attractive.
  17. I'm not sure hockey is on the decline. I think it's doing very well at the college level. Exhibit 1-A: The University of North Dakota. I've been there. It's the biggest sport in the state, and they play in an arena that's better than several NHL buildings. The Ralph Englestad Arena in Grand Forks is a palace. I haven't been to the arena, but they were building it when I was there (my father spent nine years of his childhood in Grand Forks, so I know a lot about the town and school). They regularly draw 11,000 for Fighting Sioux games. And the program has several national titles to boot.
  18. Can't wait to see Iron Man. We're starting to witness the complete and total career rehabilitation of Robert Downey Jr.
  19. Ron Santo is another one. Most people know him as the Cubs' broadcaster, but he was a terrific third baseman for some pretty wretched Cubs teams in the 60s. Santo no longer has his legs because of the diabetes...and he's had the disease since his teen years. He wasn't supposed to live past 45. Santo is now 68. If you've never seen the terrific documentary about him called This Old Cub, I highly recommend it. It's yet another reason to root for the guys on Chicago's North Side.
  20. Don't hate her because she's hot, has huge hooters, and won't do the hibbity-jibbity with you.
  21. First of all, Van Halen isn't a hair band. They played straight ahead rock'n'roll, and Eddie's the greatest guitarist ever. Period. End of discussion. Secondly, you can't have a top hair band list without Night Ranger. I don't know if they were on the bottom list; I didn't read that one. But their rock hits and power ballads were some of the finest I heard. EDIT: I just read the bottom list...the guy really hates Whitesnake. And Poison. Bastard. But that does remind me of an exchange on Family Guy that I found really funny: Lois used Whitesnake in a sentence, while discussing something with Meg. Meg: What's Whitesnake? Lois: It's music mommies and daddies listen to. :wallbash:
  22. I can't wait to see Indiana Jones back on the big screen. If anyone can pull off an Indy past middle age, it's Harrison Ford.
