The 2008 Bills...now with 13% less Buffalo! Oof...I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or punch somebody about that one.

Phil Collins Ex-wife gets 46.68 million in divorce.
buckeyemike replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
What I can't believe about all this is that 12 posts on a football message board have been devoted to Phil Collins. I'm sorry...I must have traveled back in time. Is this still 1985? -

Obama & McCain talk faith w/ Rick Warren
buckeyemike replied to JK2000's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Thanks for the compliment. We can always agree to disagree. Someone posted here a link from Alan Alda's character on The West Wing...that's probably my favorite scene from the entire series..."if you have a question about religion, go to church". Most TV critics say the Arnold Vinick (Alda) character on that show was modeled after McCain. We'll see. I don't think we've really seen the true John McCain yet. As for the election, I put Obama's odds of winning at 2-1 in his favor. Maybe 3-1. If the Democrats can't regain the White House this year, they might never regain it. And I'm a McCain supporter. I should have supported him 8 years ago. -
Vote for Bills to have #1 Fan Base!
buckeyemike replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This writer is a moron. #1 -- Philadelphia??? Where they boo Santa Claus? Get serious. #2 -- Kansas City. I can almost accept that, but not quite. #3 -- Oakland? You gotta be kidding me. I don't think they even sell out the place on a regular basis. #4 -- Cleveland. About right, but we could be even higher here. At least the writer was somewhat complimentary: How can you not have complete respect for Browns fans? They have every reason to go the way of a Falcons fan, but their loyalty to the Browns has no rival. Art Modell ripped their team out from under them and as soon as the expansion team showed up, the Dog Pound was back in full effect. The Pound was firing on all cylinders last season as the team seemed to turn the corner and if the team ever does get over the hump, the city of Cleveland had better watch out! #5 -- Green Bay. I would have put the Packers at #1. #6 -- Pittsburgh. Too low, despite my hatred of the colors black and gold. #7 -- Denver. OK, but considering their lack of success in recent years, may be primed for a fall. #8 -- Buffalo. Way too low, and I'm not just saying that because I'm here. #9 -- Chicago. It's getting harder to slot them. #10 -- Dallas. Biggest bunch of fair-weather fans on this or any other planet. My picks: #1 -- Green Bay #2 -- Cleveland #3 -- Pittsburgh #4 -- Buffalo #5 -- Kansas City #6-32 -- everybody else. -

Current totals, with 10,000+ votes posted: Bills -- 23% Other (team not listed) -- 20% Steelers -- 13% Packers -- 12% Cowboys and Browns -- 6% BTW, I voted for the Bills. -
T Luke Petitgout cut by Bucs

If he's injured, I guess it depends upon the severity of his injuries. The Bills certainly could use another warm body at tackle. -

Another question I have... There was a fire the evening of last season's Cowboys game near the Ralph. I saw the footage on YouTube and I understand that was a bar. Which bar was it? -
Obama & McCain talk faith w/ Rick Warren
buckeyemike replied to JK2000's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I like this forum idea...but I don't like the pandering. As a person of devout faith, I think it's important to know the faith of someone who I would vote for. It is not the be-all and end-all, but it is one element. Worship is, by and large, a private matter, but I do feel the responsibility to share my faith. Through my actions, much more so, than my words. It would be great if the candidates could be more honest (like the "NFL Countdown" reference), but we're not going to get that out of any political candidate...and I honestly believe McCain is the one who would come the closest to saying that. The founding fathers were deists, by and large (comparable to modern-day Unitarians), and many of those who were evangelical of the day (circa 1776) were actually against the formation of the United States, stating that it was not our place to separate from England, go our own way, and become our own nation. The evangelical churches of that day were far more concerned with the salvation of mankind than of forming a "Christian nation". Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, but it wasn't founded by Christians. There's a difference. Look at the Constitution and the Declaration of Indepence, which recognize a "Creator" but don't mention God by name. -

The place I'm thinking of is just north of the stadium, on the east side of Abbott, at Southwestern. So it must be Savannah's. Or Tailgaters. Whatever. The name Savannah's does ring a bell, but it's been four years. I remember it looking like every other bar I've ever been in on the inside...with Labatt Blue/Bills streamers above the bar, all the way around. Thank you. -
I've been there before, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name! It's the one at the corner of Abbott and Southwestern, just on the edge of the north lot. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I love Australia. What a great country with great people. BTW, Aussie...I knew the capital of Australia was Canberra. It was modeled after Washington, DC.

I'd love to see it too...if I ever get to Vegas. I think that area (south of Vegas to the California state line) will grow by leaps and bounds in the next 50 years. Whoops, I said that earlier, didn't I? Should've bought land out there 15 years ago. Oh well. -

Luke Russert's ESPN Article...
buckeyemike replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because they prefer to restrict membership of their billionaires' club, that's why. I love the article, but I have my doubts as to a) it ever happening again, b/c of the Green Bay model, and b) because I don't think that the fan model would hold up in a court of law. The NFL, sad to say, is a private entity. You can't own stock or go to shareholders meetings in the NFL unless, of course, you own a share of Packers' stock. It is an unincorporated association controlled by 31 other closed businesses and the Green Bay Packers. Maybe an antitrust-based challenge could be brought, but that has been shot down by Congress previously. -

Don't you think there's still about 250,000 people in Cleveland who would love to do the same thing with Art Modell's grave? Modell is still alive, but reportedly in very poor health. -
That's OK. I'm sure Lori will have much to say to me regarding Penn State/Ohio State this year. The game's in Columbus on October 25 at 8:00. Just to note, that's Lori's birthday. She shares a birthday with my wife Kim, so I remember that one easily. BTW Lori, excellent job on your previews. I enjoy reading them too.

Surprised you didn't buy it.

Town called Primm, Nevada...right on the California-Nevada border. The place is called Buffalo Bill's Casino and Resort. The new Vegas airport is being planned nearby, so expect that area to explode in population in coming years.
