  1. Watching the rally online right now, on Yahoo through the ABC News feed. The crowd sang "Happy Birthday" acapella and spontaneously to Senator McCain. Twice. This is the happiest I've ever seen McCain. BTW, his daughter is kind of a hottie. I really like the pick of Sarah Palin. I've only heard of her in the last three weeks, but as McCain said, she may be just what we need. She is a reformer, fighting the entrenched GOP bureaucracy of Alaskan government. Not only that, and not to sound chauvanistic, but Governor Palin's easy on the eyes, too. We will see what happens. 67 days to go.
  2. This happened at Yankee Stadium with Yankees fans, so I couldn't care less. BTW, here's another video regarding the matter. Some say he was cursing at officers, possibly drunk and disorderly, some say no. Who knows the truth?
  3. Thank you, much appreciated. BTW, her boobs lean to the left. I watched very little of the Obama speech last night...I really was too entranced in the Oregon State-Stanford game, which was a nice game to help kick off the college football season. Stanford won, 36-28. I figured Obama's speech would largely be more of what he's already said. He's one of the best speakers I've ever heard. I admit he would make one heck of a preacher. The problem I have is, were there any real solutions in the speech? Not from what I've heard. It was a speech to fire up the base and make 84,000 people cheer for him. And there's one fact that has not been mentioned here about who may really be behind Obama's meteoric rise to the Democratic nomination: Oprah Winfrey. Think I'm kidding? Did you see her literally cry her eyelashes off in a luxury box at Mile High? She looked like a proud mother last night.
  4. She's freakin' kryptonite. She's also dumb as a brick. After all, Nick Lachey got tired of banging her. And once that happens, the fun's pretty much over.
  5. If the cameras weren't there, maybe the protesters could find something else to do instead of professionally bitching for a living. It's like someone recently said about left-wing protesters at a political convention long ago: don't they realize that if they get what they're protesting for (in that case, a Marxist government) that no one could then protest? The professional bitching class never ceases to amaze or confound me.
  6. Beat me to it!
  7. The recruiting will tell, and we will know how good a coach Weis really is in the next 2 1/2 years, but don't ever expect haters in the sports media to apologize. I'm still waiting for the reporters here in Cleveland to apologize to Bill Belichick for the way they treated him when Belichick was coaching the Browns. Hmm...OK, bad example. How about Joe Torre? There were many in the media who thought Torre was an average manager...at best. Then he practically fell into the Yankees' job, and now he's a Hall of Famer. I haven't heard a single reporter apologize to Torre for the way he was maligned prior to 1995.
  8. South Louisiana...where Cajun Bills Backer lives. I hope the meteorologists are wrong about this one, because Gustav looks like it could be a Category 4 or 5 when it makes landfall. Not only would this affect an area that still isn't fully recovered from Katrina, but it could spell danger for the oil rigs in the Gulf, and the thousands of workers on those rigs. I really want this storm to make a sharp right hand turn out to sea. This could be a bad one.
  9. The USCGA does have a team (known as the Bears), but they are in Division III. Their unis look like the Florida Gators...
  10. Expect the Irish to be somewhat improved this year...it is plausible that they could contend for a national title as early as next season. Charlie Weis has to prove he is a leader of men. The recruiting is no longer a problem, because Weis reinstituted the recruiting system (visiting coaching camps and high schools all over the Midwest) that was left to wither and die after Holtz left. The former ND AD said that last year's 3-9 season was a "seam year". We'll see. An example: Ohio State hasn't had a "seam year" yet this century. Their last non-bowl year was 6-6 in 1999.
  11. Once again, The Onion has shown us the way... I'm a Notre Dame fan (second only to the Buckeyes in my book) -- this is very funny. Read down to the very end.
  12. She's a gymnast. She could have been 13 or 25. Just sayin'
  13. And yet you replied to it...
  14. Link I don't mind being told how many calories are in the foods I like. It's the food Nazis I can't stand. You know what? I will decide how many transfats I'll ingest, thank you. I just ate the best glazed donut of my life this morning...will I be vilified for that? I'm 39 years old...I despise being treated like a little kid.
  15. This girl looks like she's about 13.
  16. Back in high school, the rule was the cheerleaders could wear their outfits to class as long as they wore sweat pants underneath the skirts. These were the pleated skirts of the 80s, not the tight ones most cheerleaders seem to wear now. Really, I didn't think anything of it. If you wanted to see the girls in their short skirts, you went to the games.
  17. I've done cases in Juvenile Court with this public defender who is a nun. She's a tireless and zealous advocate for her clients, and an excellent lawyer. I've been told she has a bit of a temper, too. I'd like to see her get upset...she looks like a stiff gust of wind could blow her over.
  18. I don't know...has anyone ever known an attractive nun? I remember Heather Langenkamp's character on Just the Ten of Us wanting to be a nun. Now Heather was pretty hot back then, and still is for 44 years old, but that was a TV show!
  19. Mmmm...all that meat. Are you having a barbecue or cookout soon?
  20. This might be their year, though. Wouldn't a Cubs-Rays World Series be something to behold?
  21. Um, yes you did. Is there something you'd like to tell the board, Exiled?
  22. I think there are several reasons: 1) The complete and total collapse of American track and field. Let's face it, the steroid scandal didn't do USA Track & Field any favors. 2) The lack of a charismatic personality on the American teams. People loved Bruce Jenner, part for what he did, and partially because of his all-American persona. Today, there's no one. 3) Michael Phelps. As Steely Dan said, he's filled the void. 4) The proliferation of Olympic events on cable television. When I was a kid, ABC had the Olympics and only showed about 100 hours of coverage over the two weeks. Most people in 1976 and even 1984 didn't have cable TV. Today, NBC has five different networks broadcasting something like 2,000 hours of the Olympics. Can that figure be right? It sounds awfully high. 5) Since the Olympics are in Beijing, many of the events are shown on tape-delay because Beijing is 12 hours ahead of New York and 15 hours ahead of Los Angeles. These are just my opinions. I'm sure several more can be made that are just as valid.
  23. She's upset because she didn't get what she thought was her rightful share. It sounds like sour grapes on the half-sister's part.
