Through the support of family, church, and charity. One of my biggest criticisms of the American church is that individual churches don't do enough to help the less fortunate. Thus, the government steps in and makes people dependent on a welfare check.

I think he's actually improving as he finishes. Again, McCain is best when he speaks his mind, without a teleprompter. He started off pretty weak, but he is rallying.
-
I want to know two things: 1) How did those two thugs get credentials? 2) And why didn't you see any last week at Obama's speech?
-
Hmmm...don't remember anarchists at Obama's speech at Mile High last week. Reminds me of an old P.J. O'Rourke line about why you never see Republican protesters...because they have jobs. Getting back to the speech; speaking from a teleprompter is not McCain's forte. He's best when he shoots from the hip, and I think the forum is not favorable to McCain's natural style.
-
Were there protesters taken out earlier in the speech? I'm watching on Yahoo and surfing at the same time.

Don't forget the stadium. The Patriots played in what was really the world's largest high school stadium before Robert Kraft built the palace they play in now. The old place was a dump which everybody hated. Remember, the team almost moved to Hartford about 10 or 12 years ago. And what was the last game at old Foxboro/Sullivan/Schafer Stadium? The "tuck" playoff game. You can point to that game and see where the fate of the New England Patriots franchise really turned. BTW, Pats fans, you're 3-3 in Super Bowls. I remember when you lost the first two you were in.

Fox New's Top 10 NFL Fan Bases
buckeyemike replied to Phil Hansen Forever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry. The Packers should not be #5. They should be #1 overall, without a doubt. The Packers have had a waiting list for season tickets since 1960. When I was in Green Bay 10 years ago, I put my name on the waiting list to see if it comes up in my lifetime. I started at #45,109...as of last September, I was at #36,521. Most of that move is due to the expansion of Lambeau Field earlier this decade. There are now over 35,000 people behind me as well. Those people show up and root for Green and Gold, whether 4-12 or 12-4. Even with Favre gone, and the knuckleheaded way both team and player handled the situation, the true fans remain. -

They're scared of Palin. She's energized the ticket and the GOP base. 'Nuff said. -
Harsh media criticism of Sarah Palin

See, this is why I don't like unions. Everybody must be in lockstep with the bosses! Do not disobey them! Unions have served an important purpose in our society...but I think their time has passed. BTW, not to change the subject, but I saw a bumper sticker on a van today that said "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism". This same van had an Obama '08 sticker above it. We'll see about dissenting against Obama if he's elected. -
Harsh media criticism of Sarah Palin
buckeyemike replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Sarah Palin did it last night. If last Friday was a home run, last night was a grand slam. Plain and simple. 37+ million people watched last night...only about 1.5 million less than watched Obama last Thursday. This woman will be President someday...she's already the favorite for 2012. I see something happening here. It's called unifying your party. The McCain doubters within the GOP, for the most part, seem to be on board now. -

Sarah Palin Background Check

More or less. They and the Huffington Post. The Republicans won't play the victim card, but the electorate may notice what is happening. And plenty of them may not like it. People do not like being condescended or talked down to. Nope. Just your basic sole practitioner, working for myself. -
Sarah Palin Background Check

No, they know what I do. -
If any of you lefties really knew John McCain, the Palin pick has his fingerprints all over it. I believe that she was properly vetted. I also believe that the fundamentalist Christians were not pressuring McCain to pick Palin. Heck, some lefties are saying that McCain was "forced" to pick Palin by Dobson and Company (at which point McCain would have told them to promptly perform an anatomical impossibilty), and some are saying that the Christians by this pick want to keep women barefoot and pregnant. The second one is interesting, since Palin's a woman and all, and fundamentalist Christians aren't supposed to like women in power. Can't have it both ways, although I know you would like to. McCain could have picked Lieberman, which would probably have had libs shouting "Traitor!" about an honorable man. He could have picked Mitt Romney..."Two wealthy white men!" Or Tim Pawlenty..."Dan Quayle II!" And Condi Rice..."Evil Bushite!" McCain is a maverick. He's a gambler by nature. He knows this is his last shot at the White House, and he swung for the fences. I still believe it's a great pick. Case closed, as far as I'm concerned.

Sarah Palin Background Check
buckeyemike replied to BillsNYC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Exactly. And Sarah Palin has my full support, regardless of the feeding frenzy. For disclosure's sake, I attend and teach Sunday School in a church in (though I am not a member of) the same religious denomination as Sarah Palin, the Assemblies of God. There are 2.7 million members in this country...it's the 11th or 12th largest Protestant church in the United States. You're 2 for 2. Remember, left-wingers, that there are approximately 90 million voters in this country who don't blog, aren't posting on internet message boards, aren't pollsters, and don't call into radio talk shows, liberal or conservative. The undecideds/middle class/regular Joes of this country may see all these attacks against Palin and completely turn against Obama. And Obama knows it too...that's why he told his campaign to, in so many words, "cool it" with the attacks. I'm proud to be a Republican. I don't need someone who's diametrically opposed to my politics telling me who to vote for. I've got a college degree, a law degree, and 14 years experience as a lawyer. I don't let the media do it. I don't let the Daily Kos do it. And you know what? I don't let my church do it either. God has given me a sufficient brain to make my choice. And most importantly on a message board? I can spell and articulate. No matter what, it's MY choice. And I will make it. -
No, Sarah's prettier. And she's not from Texas.
-
I think you got that reversed...allowed to be liberal or Democrat if black or female.
-
Yawn to the first one. The second one is actually funny, I'll give you that. You know who Palin's starting to remind me of in the looks department? Tina Fey. Expect Tina to play her in a guest slot on Saturday Night Live in a few weeks.

Palin... will she gain some of the Hillary supporters?
buckeyemike replied to pBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
(((Sigh)))...probably comes from the same person generating the "Obama is a Muslim" e-mails. And I say this because the person supposedly writing this was a Hillary supporter. Sarah Palin is NOT the female Dan Quayle. And she will prove that tonight. -
Um, Aaron Burr killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel as a sitting Vice-President. The natural comparison would be Dick Cheney.
