I did say on the College Football board that if he heads out to Lubbock, 55,000 Tech fans will throw tortillas at him.

Earlier, I stated how much I like Mike Singletary as a head coach already. Well, going to the other end of the coaching spetrum, we have Mike Leach. He has a law degree from Pepperdine and apparently likes to collect pirate memorabilia. He's also just a strange guy. I don't think he'd last 5 minutes at an SEC school, but he seems like he genuinely enjoys what he does. And, oh, that offense...since 2000, they have to be averaging somewhere near 50 points a game. The Raiders rung up 63 on a pretty good Kansas team (in Lawrence), and a few years back, they hung a 70-spot on the Cornhuskers. Since Tech's way out in Lubbock (which has been referred to as "Lubf---istan", as well as being located somewhere between Mexico and "Watch out for that snake, you fool!"), he doesn't get near the attention that Mack Brown and Bob Stoops get. He also hasn't won quite as much, but that seems to be changing. Tech is 8-0 and has its highest ranking since 1976. Bluefire, you headed to Lubbock this weekend?

You poo when you nap, Gringo?

I've been waiting to see what Mike Singletary can do as a head coach. BTW, his alma mater Baylor passed up on him earlier this year (Baylor's 3-5 with their new head man, which is like 6-2 just about anywhere else). Personally? I love what he did. The fans love it, and the organization probably loves it as well. Singletary wants players that played the game like he did...with tons of preparation and controlled abandon. Mike Singletary was the second greatest defensive player I ever saw (Lawrence Taylor is first). I think he will be successful...maybe not immediately, but I think he's already changing the culture of a losing team in San Francisco. for Mike Singletary.

There will be rioting
buckeyemike replied to billnutinphoenix's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
If Obama wins, riots of celebration. If Obama loses, cries of "Fix!" and destruction ensues. I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek there, but I understand where you're coming from. -
From Focus on the Family Action...

As someone said here earlier, I would bet dollars to donuts that Obama moves toward the center if he is elected. Especially if it's close, as I think it could be. But I still think Obama pulls it out. This is still a center-right country, where the pendulum is moving toward the left, but it's not there. It's moving to the left due to the total ineptitude of the Bush administration to get out of its own way. Newsweek has a cover story on that very topic this week. Either way, nine days to go. Thank God. -

Hell, I think there may be rioting either way. -
You know I rooted for Notre Dame. You know it. And I'm not a moron.

This game will be a good one. It's in Lubbock Saturday night...top-ranked Texas against #7 Texas Tech. National television. ESPN Gameday headed to Tech for the first time. I think that Tech could prevail in this one. Their offense is always fun to watch, and their defense, while not world-class, seems to be better than it has been in previous years. 55,000 Red Raiders fans throwing tortillas at Bluefire...should be fun.

Poll: Hottest Female Sportscaster
buckeyemike replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Right now it's Erin Andrews, and I can see why, because she's smokin' hot. -
I didn't like the game, obviously enough, but I didn't like the way it was played either. I say Ohio State played not to lose on offense. The one time Pryor tried to make a play, the game turned around. The O seemed handcuffed all night for the Buckeyes, and I put that on the coaching staff. Oh well. No chance to lose in the BCS title game this time around.
-
That game flat-out sucked. I'm not just saying that b/c the Buckeyes lost. It was a hard game to watch. The turning point, of course, was Pryor's fumble. Rookie mistake. He tried to go for the big play and he got humbled. Really, I knew Ohio State was going to lose when they punted on 4th and 3 with about four and a half minutes to go. That showed me they didn't have a whole lot of faith in their offense to continue the drive. For the first time in a long time, I saw Ohio State play not to lose and what happens when a team does that is they don't win either. I really hope Penn State runs the table. That is a good team.

Happy Birthday Lori, Crusoe, and my wife today!
buckeyemike replied to buckeyemike's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well, it did suck. Kim was there for over an hour and was afraid she wasn't going to get to the counter before they closed at 12:30 (I'm sure since she had been there waiting, they would have accomodated her, but it's the BMV, after all). But, she got her license and left at 12:25. All is well. Hope everyone had a good birthday. -
I just found the scene! WARNING: NSFW! NSFW! Found on MySpace...about 8 1/2 minutes long.
-
If anyone else who hasn't seen the movie wants a description of the scene, PM me. I think it's a little too ribald to post here. BTW, there is a MySpace page for Getting Lucky. A long-awaited DVD will be released on January 27.

Happy Birthday Lori, Crusoe, and my wife today!

Kim had to run to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles before they close. She forgot to renew her driver's license. -
Yep. Sure do. And Gilbert did host for a while. It always seemed like they'd show first class fare like Assault of the Killer Bimbos, Sorority Babes in the Slime Ball Bowl-a-Rama, etc. My favorite was Getting Lucky, a farce about a nerd who finds a leprechaun in a beer bottle who helps him get the girl of his dreams. If you've seen Getting Lucky, there is one very memorable scene in it involving a shrunken nerd and a cheerleader in a classroom. And USA surprisingly showed the scene uncut, in its entirety. I won't go any further, but here's a hint: the actress who played the cheerleader put Meg Ryan to shame.

I agree 100%. Another one that's not even listed here: Lindsay Lohan. Four years ago, she was outstanding (and she was 18 at the time, so she was legal). Today, after all that cocaine...um, not so much.
-
Oh dear God, you're right.

I tend to agree with you on Roberts, but the hands-down winner here is Pamela Anderson. Pam used to be attractive...15+ years ago, prior to the breast implants, tats, hepatitis, etc. The reason why she's still seen as attractive is her lips, which, as someone here once said, could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

Congrats, Tim!

My wife works tomorrow night, unfortunately. If I watch Sluts in the Suburbs...err, Desperate Housewives by myself, does that make me gay?

Hey Lori...Big Game This Saturday, eh?
buckeyemike replied to buckeyemike's topic in College Football
It's been a few years since the Lions beat Ohio State in State College. I don't have the year off the top of my head. But Penn State is 0-7 at the Horseshoe since joining the Big 10. I was surprised to see that the Nittany Lions haven't won in Columbus since 1978. Thirty years is a long time. That was the last year of Woody Hayes. If any Penn State team's gonna win in Columbus, it's this one. Should be a terrific game. GO BUCKS! -

buckeyemike replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
So what's the verdict? I was gonna suggest drag, as that's always good for a laugh. Go in a frumpy dress with hairy legs and three-day stubble. You can insert an ethnic old-lady joke here. -
For Lori (as she hits a "milestone birthday" today), who does so much work on this board, so much research, and whose posts I always look forward to reading. If Penn State wins tonight (and you know how I feel about that), I hope that the Nittany Lions go unbeaten the rest of the way. If they don't, then don't blame me. Blame Terelle Pryor instead. For Crusoe, whom I don't know, but happy #38 today anyway. And for my wonderful wife of nine years, who shares not only the same birthday, but the same birthdate, as Lori. The lovely and talented Kimberly arrives at the same milestone today. Kim's not awake as of yet, so that's why I'm on here now. I'm letting her sleep in as a secondary birthday gift. Happy birthday all! Have a great day!
