  1. Matt Kenseth's come all the way from 43rd to lead. They red-flagged and are now in a rain delay. 48 laps to go. Sadler's running fifth right now, and was in the lead right before the yellow flag...he's had a whale of a race.
  2. Speaking of heroin, anybody wanna bet that's what Mr. Phoenix was on? Although, my best guess is Joaquin did a whole lotta nose candy prior to that interview.
  3. I can understand how parents feel, even though I am not one. How would you like to explain to your 7 year old while watching the Daytona 500 what Viagra is? Or why the pretty girl in the Doritos Super Bowl commercial lost her clothes? Believe me, I'm no prude, but I think that many of these commercials are in bad taste.
  4. Exactly, kegtapr. I'm not the world's greatest flyer; in fact, I get very nervous before I board a plane. But it is because of the reason you stated: a lack of control. The odds are greater to get killed in a car crash on the way to work than a plane crash.
  5. This is truly horrible. From what I'm reading it sounds like icing is a major factor. I was up until midnight last night, but I didn't hear anything about the crash until I turned the news on at 7:30 this morning. PTS, you said that planes fly low over your property. I live about five miles from Hopkins Airport here in Cleveland, so I know exactly what you're talking about. It seems like either the planes are getting lower or the engines are getting louder. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of whose who lost loved ones. RIP to those who died.
  6. Oh, man. You were lucky...or God was watching over you. All the best to you, my friend.
  7. Thanks for clarifying.
  8. Alomar's last good year was with the Indians in 2001. I remember his career went south pretty fast after the Tribe traded him to the Mets. I wonder if Robbie Alomar's been HIV-positive since at least 2001. Is it stated anywhere that he has the full-blown AIDS virus; that he isn't just HIV-positive? I've represented people with AIDS. It's not a pretty sight.
  9. I would love for them to end up on Earth in the end. End up on Earth in the year 1979.
  10. This has been going on for 6 years. And I'm tired of it. Gringo Starr said it's like zombies. I was thinking Freddy Krueger myself.
  11. A few years back at a Thai place called Bangkok Gourmet (since closed) in Akron, Ohio; I had this dish with steak and chicken together. The spices and sauce were outstanding, and the meats were cooked perfectly. I can't even remember what it was called -- it may have been drunken stir-fry, but I am unsure.
  12. I just got a Sprint Instinct phone. It was my gift for Valentine's Day from my wife. I got the whole package. Unlimited calling (which I sorely need for my law practice), unlimited web, text, and even NFL Network 24/7. I'm watching Brett Favre highlights from 1996 as I type. I did try to post here from it last night, but I couldn't get the site to take the post. I may try again later. This is a tremendous phone. Now I just gotta figure everything out and also learn how to work the Bluetooth. I've been a Sprint customer since 2002 and I've had nothing but good things to say about them.
  13. Dammit. Cleveland is fourth, although I can't really argue with that. The weather really sucks this winter (although it's 60 degrees today), the politicians are all corrupt, and everybody's leaving.
  14. My God. Rihanna -- what a babe. I'll bash Chris Brown's face in myself, with my trusty 8-iron.
  15. Whatever happened to Head East? Their lead singer from the 70s, John Schlitt, was fired from the band for heavy drug use. He later converted to Christianity, kicked the drug habit, and was the lead singer for a Christian band named Petra from 1986 until the band retired at the end of 2005. I don't know what happened to the rest of the members of Head East. They were out of Champaign, Illinois IIRC.
  16. Dude, you're about to get rick rolled. BTW, he had four hits I can think of -- "Never Gonna Give You Up", "Together Forever", "It Would Take a Strong, Strong, Man" and "Hopelessly". The first two went to Number 1.
  17. I've been to Clearwater...the Scientologist's HQ building (which I'm not sure they've ever finished) dominates the skyline. That building is huge!
  18. Damn, you ARE old. I'll enter my two cents worth with the following...and you can tell I'm a child of the 80s: "Cars" -- Gary Numan "Tainted Love" -- Soft Cell "Mickey" -- Toni Basil "Tarzan Boy" -- Baltimora "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" -- Georgia Satellites (and I thought they'd be huge for years) "Heart and Soul" -- T'Pau "The Promise" -- When in Rome ...and maybe the biggest one-hit wonder of all: "Don't Worry, Be Happy" -- Bobby McFerrin (it's his only Top 40 hit, so it qualifies)
  19. Dear God, that's funny. That may be, but I think that Cheney's really concerned for the future security of this nation. Whether or not he's right is another thing entirely. We haven't had a terrorist attack in seven and a half years. Let's keep it that way.
  20. This is the first real job Hillary has had since her early years at the Rose Law Firm. We'll see whether or not she's up to it. Hillary Clinton could very well be an excellent Secretary of State...or she could crash and fail miserably. I don't think there's much middle ground here.
  21. Aw Wacka, now you've gone and pissed off Molson. Wherever he is.
  22. Godspeed to the Aussies. This is a really bad story...people generally have no idea what fire can do until it's too late. Conditions have to be perfect for a firestorm to thrive. In Peshtigo, Wisconsin on the same exact day as the Great Chicago Fire, several forest fires merged in 85 degree temperatures, fueled by dry brush and gale force winds, destroying the town (north of Green Bay) and several others. Officially, the death toll was around 1,250. Most historians think that due to the nature of the fire and the lack of record keeping in 1871, that the real toll is near 3,000 dead. Witnesses said the flames reached an estimated 800 feet in height, and the firestorm was estimated to be more than a mile wide in spots. What has happened in Australia sounds very similar to Peshtigo. Few escape from such conditions.
  23. And although my mother would never say it, this is why she left 50 years ago. Interestingly, she was the only one of her family (eight kids; she was the youngest) who left WV on a long-term basis.
  24. No more Bugs Bunny, no more Tom and Jerry, no more Road Runner. OTOH, you have Hannah Montana and those twin boys who need haircuts. Call me an old fogey, but I'll take the former.
  25. Poojer, I have come to the conclusion that you are either a very thoughtful person or that you have way too much time on your hands.
