We will see what happens to Feherty. But he is prone to saying politically incorrect things...which I think can only be good. Read my middle sig line.

Phoenix Coyotes are broke...and moving?
buckeyemike replied to Rubes's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No. Our AHL team, the Lake Erie Monsters, barely draws now. This city can't support a fourth major league team. I think it can barely support three now as it is. If it weren't for LeBron, the Cavaliers would be in Kansas City or Vegas. That was the greatest stroke of luck in Cleveland sports history. That is, if you can call it luck. Let me explain: I have a theory that the 2003 NBA draft lottery, like previous ones, was fixed. Fixed so LeBron would get to be drafted by his hometown team. The season before, the Cavaliers averaged barely 11,000 per game, and there were many nights when there were no more than 4,000 in the arena. With LeBron, the Cavaliers franchised was saved for Cleveland, and Gordon Gund could sell off the team (worth less than $100 million prior to LeBron, $350 million two years after) for a very handsome profit. Take a look at Quicken Loans Arena during the next Cavaliers home playoff game. There are NO empty seats. It's been that way all season. Now, compare that with at least two-thirds of NBA arenas during games. If the Cavaliers win the NBA championship, this will be the team that is remembered in Cleveland. Forever. -

Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey Jr. Maybe Thome. That's about it. -
Normally, it's my contention that Steelers fans are rather useless, but that is pretty funny.

This is true. The key is, Islam has not yet had its Martin Luther. -

The guy who killed the doctor is simply an idiot. Let God make those decisions. Believe me, I have a pretty strong will. I wouldn't have lasted 6 1/2 years here without it. -
Chelsea will go to Seattle to play the Sounders in July. Check out my avatar. They've been in the MLS less than two months, but the Sounders are probably the hottest ticket in American soccer right now.

Michael Savage banned from entering Britain

It's my feeling that some on this board think I'm fundamentalist. I do not consider myself a fundamentalist, but I do not shy away from my Christian beliefs. I certainly don't want to turn anyone off of Christ by my behavior. So, I attempt to be diplomatic. To answer your question, most fundamentalists are hypocritical and spout off a lot of hot air. But 99% of them are far LESS dangerous than fundamentalist Muslims like the Taliban. Just remember, a fundamentalist Christian won't kill you for disagreeing with him on matters of religion and faith. A member of the Taliban will call you an infidel and slice your throat. That's my take. -

RIP. Three years. How time goes by.

No, actually, you're right. And it goes both ways...um, let me rephrase that. It goes for both straight couples and gay couples. There's a reason why the phrase "Get a room!" was invented.

Ohhhh...I forgot you live in the Seattle area. I like the logo (and I've been a fan of Drew Carey's for years), plus the team's off to a very good start, so I've been brushing up on my soccer. -

It's the logo of Seattle Sounders FC, the Major League Soccer team co-owned by Drew Carey. -
Miss California and Mel Gibson
buckeyemike replied to buckeyemike's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yep. That was my point. I can't really say that I blame her...or him for taking the cash. And you're right about treating the body well. I bet Michael Phelps didn't eat a twinkie and drink Coca-Cola last night, like I did. Again, my point exactly. I don't do this. I'm asking people I know not to. -
Anyone ever have a sleep study done?
buckeyemike replied to buckeyemike's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well, it turns out that I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. At this time, I need to contact my dentist to be fitted for a nocturnal airway appliance for OSA. No C-PAP machine at this point. The doctor also suggested I lose weight (I am down to 203) and maybe sew tennis balls to my bedclothes so I don't sleep on my back. -
Michael Savage banned from entering Britain

Britain is so politically correct, and so afraid of offending fundamentalist Muslims, that this doesn't surprise me in the least. Granted, I am NO fan of Michael Savage, who has greatly contributed to the dumbing-down of America, but for someone who poses no physical danger to be banned from entering a nation for their politics frightens me. I think Savage is correct on this issue. How far are we away from this? This is a legitimate question; I really do not know the answer. -
I posted the following on my Facebook page. Since I'm a Christian and have a lot of Christian friends who have hailed these two people, I wanted to pose the following food for thought: The fallout from the Miss California fiasco and Mel Gibson's impending divorce made me think about whose opinions should be granted merit. In 2004, Mel Gibson released "The Passion of the Christ". This movie was seen by millions of Christians, from fundamentalists to staunch Catholics who refuse to recite the Mass in any language but Latin. I never saw "The Passion" and was very wary of Gibson's work. Mel Gibson was hailed as a hero by many Christians, yet if one is familiar with his earlier film work (much of which is very violent in nature), one can see such support as perplexing. In the five years since, Mr. Gibson has had a DUI (in which he used a crude epithet to address a female police officer) and is now in the process of divorcing his wife of 29 years. This hardly seems of Christian or Christ-like behavior. Mr. Gibson seems in need of good counsel more than anything else at this point. Miss California, Carrie Prejean, has also been hailed as a hero because of her response to a question from a gay activist on same-sex marriage at a beauty pageant. It seems little more than a tempest in a teapot to me. First of all, beauty pageants in our society are generally useless; the idea that they are "scholarship competitions" for young women notwithstanding. Society more and more glorifies the beautiful, which all of us know. The purpose of such shows is for visual cheesecake, and nothing more. Then it was revealed that Miss Prejean has been dating Michael Phelps (the one hundred million dollar bongman) and has not only received breast implants, but has posed for topless photographs, wearing nothing but pink panties, which call into question her moral stances. I have seen Mr. Gibson and Miss Prejean hailed for their stands. I question their credentials and their behavior. Always be careful who you hail, for they can fall from their pedestal quite easily.

Plain Dealer article...4:00 press conference at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron. Lebron's alma mater, of course. ESPN.com link. LeBron James would thus become the first Cleveland athlete to be named a league MVP since Brian Sipe in 1980. Wow...29 years. Way to go LeBron and GO CAVS!!!
