"Life is an open Road to me..."
buckeyemike replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both of the Bryan Adams fans on this board would disagree, but if I hear that song one more time, I'll be forced to hurt someone. That was a great post, STJ. Mike -

I will defend Michael Moore's right to speak his mind. It is that same right that I have to call the man a colossal fat@$$. Mike -

Race Relations in Professional Sports
buckeyemike replied to boomerjamhead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, EC-Bills, but there's another issue here. When Milton Bradley was suspended by the Indians after getting into an argument with Tribe manager Eric Wedge, he accused Wedge of being a racist. Now Wedge is an old-school style manager who likes John Wayne movies, but he's a former player himself, and with players like Coco Crisp, C.C. Sabathia, and Victor Martinez on the team, I don't think Wedge can be accused of being racist, or favoring white players over minorities. After that didn't work, Bradley even got his mother to call Wedge a racist. That just speaks volumes to me about MB being a crybaby. MB is supposed to be this great player, but he's been nothing but trouble wherever he's been. Montreal, Cleveland, or LA. And the Indians certainly don't seem to miss him. It's intriguing that the Tribe has employed both Albert Belle and Milton Bradley in the last ten years, but it shows what the Indians won't tolerate anymore. I don't think Albert Belle would have lasted long under Eric Wedge. P.J. O'Rourke said it best: "Why would you hate a person on the basis of race when you can get to know them and find so many other things to hate about them?" Mike -

Bills’ camp is still good for the soul
buckeyemike replied to Tux of Borg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good article, well-written and relevant. I was at Browns camp at the end of July...it's a nice facility, but it's kind of cramped for the fans. About 3,500 were there the day I went. They did have merchandise trailers and things to do for the kids. It seems that SJFC has more for the fans and is more spread out, from what I've heard. Mike -

Why shouldn't John Madden be in the HOF? At one point, he had the highest winning percentage for coaches in NFL history. His record in 10 seasons is 103-32-7. He was also one of the youngest head coaches in NFL history...age 33 when he took over the Raiders. People born before 1975 forget this. Mike

I think so...I went to a late showing, so I didn't see any young kids. It is rated G. There are some nature scenes that kids might find scary or sad, but no more than a "National Geographic" documentary. I hope that doesn't warrant a "spoiler alert". Mike

In a movie season filled with remakes, wedding crashers, and middle-aged virgins, the Penguins will delight you. And no, it's not about Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh hockey team's quest for the playoff's next March. "March of the Penguins" was filmed by a French (I know...shocking, isn't it?) film crew that spent a whole year in Antarctica filming the mating habits of the emperor penguin. 120 hours of film was cut down to 85 minutes. Two things I noticed at the end of the movie: 1) Only about 3 people left during the credits (about 60 in the theater when my wife and I saw it). 2) When the credits ended, everyone filed out quietly. No one said a word. One of the strangest things I've ever seen. My wife, the lovely and talented Kimberly, could not stop talking about how fascinated she was by a world which 99.9% of the population will never see. Narrated by Morgan Freeman (who is perfect for voiceover here), the movie will be funny, fascinating, and bring a tear to your eye. See it on the big screen...this is one of the few movies where I wouldn't wait for the DVD. It's the surprise hit of the summer. Mike

I don't like the Frenchies either, but I've got a little problem with Armstrong...he did run out on his wife so he could chase after Sheryl Crow. He was married, after all. It's bad form to chase after a rock star when you've still got a wife at home, who helped you survive cancer. Sheryl Crow is one of those women who seems to look better as she gets older (she's 42, a whopping eight years older than Lance), but I'm tired of her Bush-bashing. The two of them probably deserve each other. I'm surprised she didn't tell Lance to deck the President during their recent bike ride. Mike

Speaking of the French, I haven't seen Olivier in months. Where's he been hiding? Mike

Tara Reid hitting rockbottom as well.
buckeyemike replied to The Riddler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So let me get this straight...a bunch of you horndogs would give your left testicle to sleep with Tara Reid. As a wise person once said, "She's given more rides than Greyhound". To anyone who DOES sleep with her, let me say this: better stock up on the peroxide and condoms. You never know what you're gonna catch. I've about had it with these twenty-something famous women acting like high-class hookers. They're brainless, and quite frankly (to steal S.A. Smith's line), I'm sick of looking at these attention whores. Mike -
Oooh...that's cold. But funny. Mike

Anyone worried about going to the game
buckeyemike replied to HtownBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you, and I don't think the terrorists would attack in Orchard Park...but the main reason why I won't be there is 9/11 is my sixth wedding anniversary. If I told my wife we were going to a football game on our anniversary, she'd kill me. She's not a football fan, and once told me she thought the Bills had won one of those Super Bowls. The terrorists believe that they are fighting the "Great Satan"...and they once believed that we were a paper tiger...I doubt many of Osama's allies feel that way any more, but they believe in fighting until the death.
