  1. The actress who played Janeway, Kate Mulgrew, married a local politician from Cleveland who unsuccessfully ran for governor of Ohio in 2002 (Tim Hagan). Captain Janeway lives on a horse farm about six miles from me. Mike
  2. Bill Simmons (Pats fan and defender of The Great Bruschi (We're not worthy!) that he is) had a terrific line while discussing whether or not Madonna was wearing any underwear when she performed "Like a Virgin" at the first MTV Video Music Awards in 1984. "Now that she's a mom and thinks she's English, it's easy to forget what an absolute trashy bimbo Madonna was back in the day." And then something about how much more of a skank she was then than Paris Hilton is now. Good times, good times. Mike
  3. LMAO at that one! This is why I come here so much...you guys are ALWAYS good for a laugh or two. Mike
  4. ba-dum-cha! No, the Oregon Ducks. Mike
  5. According to the Bills' Media Guide, he's listed as "Ahmad Rashad", University of Oregon, 1974-75. My dad, who is a Pac-10 fan (he grew up in Oregon and California), remembers him as Bobby Moore, and he was an All-American for the Original Mighty Ducks. Mike
  6. And to think I was the one who started that thread... I still like the movie nonetheless. CTM can go jump in the lake...or go to that place Ghost of BIB was talking about. Mike
  7. I think it's the Oakland game, too. That was the one where the Bills trailed 13-7 with about four minutes left and the final was 21-20 after Rashad caught the winning TD with 30 seconds to go. The opening MNF game of the 1974 season (September 16, 1974). Mike
  8. How about the botched Oilers' FG? It started to rain seconds before Montgomery muffed the snap. It had been damp all day anyway, but the rain made the ball just slippery enough that it went right through Montgomery's hands. See? God doesn't hate the Buffalo Bills. If I remember correctly, the next drive was the one where the Bills took a 38-35 lead with about three minutes left. Mike
  9. I disagree with the Bills part, but as my father-in-law sometimes says, "Poo occurs". And it happens to everyone, no matter what ESPN may say about Tom Brady or The Great Bruschi (We're not worthy!). I bet Patriot fans would have said the same thing about their team 10 years ago. Mike
  10. Great Article...especially the part about MTV putting on a transvestite. No pic of Madonna, though. Just as well. Mike P.S. Happy Third Year Anniversary on the Wall today, to me!
  11. My personal tastes go more towards Barenaked Ladies and The Tragically Hip. I also like Chicago (esp. their older stuff). And most 80's music. I guess I'm not exempt from the Bon Jovi Principle then. Waiter, a serving of Crap all the way around. Mike
  12. I thought this article spoke volumes...that's why I posted it. In our instant society, I am reminded of the old Veruca Salt song "I Want It Now, Daddy". See how much Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the book, not the movie) can teach us? The moral of the story is to keep with your teams (and your circumstances) through thick and thin, and ultimately, rewards will come. Unless of course, your team moves like mine did. Mike
  13. I think that's one thing we can ALL agree on here. Mike
  14. Zero for me too. But I buy plenty of DVD's. Mike
  15. I agree...I changed my sig line because it IS a terrific quote. Mike
  16. Somebody here call for a "religious person"? Tell God I hate that term. I'm a Christian. Mike
  17. The rise of the fair-weather fan. If this has already been posted, please don't bite my head off, OK? Mike
  18. That's what Hank Hill would say, anyway. Mike
  19. Nope. And it's illegal anyway. Mike
  20. It's called "Office Space Special Edition with Flair" and has several new extras, including a retrospective with Mike Judge, Ron Livingston, David Herman, among others. I watched some of the extras and a little bit of the movie last night. The movie has held up very well over time. I know that Fox had been after Mike Judge for years to release a version with new extras, so it looks like they finally threw enough money at him to do it. Judge's relationship with Fox in recent years has been strained at best...that's a big reason why this is the last season for "King of the Hill". They have also kicked around the release date for his new movie "Idiocracy"...it was supposed to open this year and may not open now until after the holidays. Anyway, check out the new DVD edition of "Office Space". Mike
  21. Or the Indians. And the Cleveland Browns. Mike
  22. I hope you all still feel this way on December 17 about the announcers in particular and ESPN in general. Mike
  23. I think the six could be the Chiefs, Chargers, Panthers, Dolphins, Broncos and Jets. That would equal 9-7 right there, 4-2 in the division. Problem is, with that you would need the Pats to either go 8-8 or 9-7 with three division losses. Mike
  24. Funny post...it reminds me of the scene early in the movie "Office Space": "Corporate accounts, Nina speaking. Just one moment." "Corporate accounts, Nina speaking. Just one moment." "Corporate accounts, Nina speaking. Just one moment." "Corporate accounts, Nina speaking. Just one moment." Mike
  25. Everybody!! "And I'd really love to see you tonight..." Thanks to my wife, the lovely and talented Kimberly, for playing the song so much that I actually know the words... Mike
