  1. One of my favorite games of the year...I actually like this one more than the NFL games on Thanksgiving, probably because it's later in the day and I've had my tryptophan-induced nap. I always root for WVU. I have a lot of family in West Virginia. The Mountaineers are my second-favorite team behind my beloved Buckeyes, and it's not out of the possibility that the two may meet in a BCS bowl game. With Bednarik, White, and Slayton all sophomores or younger, WVU has a possibility of being a national title contender in the next couple of years. Rich Rodriguez has really recruited well in Morgantown. Pitt is 5-5 under Dave Wannstedt (!) and needs an upset to become bowl-eligible. Tyler Palko has shown signs of becoming a really good college QB. I don't know what the weather for the game will be, but it's snowing heavily in Cleveland this Thanksgiving Day, and the snow looks to be moving southeast, so there may be a white field tonight. GO WVU!! Mike
  2. I have no idea what that means. Anyway, it sounds like most of you are jealous of the 40 year old guy who DID get into Danica's pants. As far as her, ahem, chest is concerned, I don't think implants would fit in the race car. She found someone who isn't you. Get over it!! Mike
  3. 1) The Banana Splits. I've seen it ONCE in the last 30 years, but the dang song sticks in my head from childhood. Tra La-La, La-La-La-Laaaaaa, One banana, two banana, three banana four, four bananas make a bunch and so do many more, Over hill and highway the banana buggies go, Comin' on to bring you the Banana Splits Show. Makin' up a mess of fun, lots of fun for ev'ry one, Tra La-La, La-La-La-La, Tra La-La, La-La-La-La. Tra La-La, La-La-La-La, Tra La-La, La-La-La-La. Four banana, three banana, two banana, one. All bananas playin' in the bright warm sun. Flippin' like a pancake, poppin' like a cork, Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper an' Snork. Tra La-La, La-La-La-La, Tra La-La, La-La-La-La. 2) WKRP (and a close second, at that) 3) Beverly Hillbillies 4) Cheers 5) Family Ties (I'm an 80's kid at heart, and no one mentioned this one). Mike
  4. I'm sure their families do, but I couldn't care less. They mean about as much to me as who Paris Hilton is sleeping with. I hate our fame-driven culture. Mike
  5. Rose Bowl -- USC v. Texas (the Dream Matchup everyone wants). Fiesta Bowl -- Notre Dame v. Ohio State (three Fiesta trips in 4 years for my beloved Buckeyes, who are 2-0 all time against the Irish). Sugar Bowl -- LSU v. West Virginia (the Mountaineers are my second-favorite team, since Mom is from WV). Orange Bowl -- Penn State v. Virginia Tech (a really good matchup). Mike
  6. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don't overdo it on the turkey. Instead, go for broke on the pumpkin pie. Mike
  7. Hmmm...9-2 and apparently we suck. At least we've won a national title (not to mention bowl games) in the last few years. Mike
  8. It's gonna be something along the lines of, "That was one butt-ugly ball game." Mike
  9. Terrific avatar! That certainly takes some of the sting out. Mike
  10. Once I saw Brees and LT march straight down the field, I knew the Bills had their hands full. And after the second TD drive, I knew that was that. I've never called a game over in the first 15 minutes before. And Losman didn't even have that bad of a game! They looked like the Keystone Kops out there, especially the vaunted Bills' defense. Obviously, Takeo is a big loss, but he's been gone for eight weeks and isn't coming back until August. Nobody has bothered to take his game to the next level. Oh well. At least the Browns shut out the Dolphins, so that keeps the Fishies behind the Bills. Mike
  11. Like your Longhorns did to Kansas? I still say your team is the second-best in the land...about 28 points behind USC. The Trojans found themselves in a track meet last night, but pulled it out. This may be as close as t.u. will ever come to a national title. Mike
  12. Agreed. Great picture on the front page of this morning's Plain Dealer with Tressel and the boys doing "Carmen Ohio" after the game yesterday. When the Buckeyes beat the Blue, the sunrise seems a little brighter and the morning java tastes a little better. Now, we gotta wait two weeks to see where the Scarlet and Gray wind up. I think they will get an at-large BCS bid (with the loss by Miami last night). da da da da, da da da da GO BUCKS!! Mike
  13. I would love to visit Asheville. I've never been there. Sounds like a great town. Mike
  14. O H I O!!!! Hang on, Sloopy. Sloopy, Hang On! Mike
  15. Iced tea last night, coffee this morning with my bagel. I need my faculties for the Buckeye game this afternoon. Mike
  16. From what I heard there will be at least one deputy nearby so she can't run off (and also for her protection). Mike
  17. For all of the animal rights activists on the board. It's a great sentence. I've been in front of this judge before and just about everyone respects him for his intelligence and creativity. This woman sounds like a real b---h for leaving poor defenseless kittens out in the cold...not once, but at least twice. I'm not a supporter of PETA or anything like that, but that's just an evil thing to do. At least take them to the humane society, for God's sake. The article says she called her local branch, but panicked afterwards, and left the kittens in the Metropark to fend for themselves. Mike
  18. I think we have a new verse for the South Park song, "Blame Canada". Mike
  19. Remember Dr. Romano getting sprayed with toxic waste and then getting hit by the truck and disintegrating in "Robocop"? That has to be the most violent movie ever made. Mike
  20. And at least, if you want big-time college sports, Clemson is nearby. The Tigers are part of the most underrated rivalry in college football...Clemson and the University of South Carolina, or as I call it, Kitty Cats versus the Fighting Chickens. And by the way, between the two, I root for Clemson. My favorite ACC team since they won the National Title in '81. Mike
  21. T-minus three hours, 52 minutes to kickoff and counting... GO BUCKS!! BEAT THE BLUE!! Mike
  22. I've heard the Browns' TV ratings locally are still pretty good...I would bet that Cleveland is either 11th or 12th on that list. It's the team's shows (and there are two, on two different stations, and I believe in the same time slot: Monday at 7:00 P.M.) that are suffering in the local ratings. Nobody wants to watch a replay of a bad football team. As far as the Cleveland/Baltimore emotional question is concerned, I think you're right. I've stated on this board many times about not being able to root as hard for my formerly beloved Browns as I once did. BTW, Dolphins are here in Cleveland tomorrow...so, root for the Brownies. Forecast for tomorrow is 45 degrees and partly cloudy at game time. GO BILLS!! CRUSH THE CHARGERS!! Mike
  23. Ouch. Funny though. Mike
  24. My favorite: How do you make University of Michigan cookies? Put them in a big Bowl and beat for three hours. As it says on the heading, "Michigan. First line of defense from the Canadians." More jokes here (may be duplicates). And more here (from an Ohio State student). Mike
  25. I hope you don't either. I'll jog through hell before I go through that again. But, I do not believe you will. There has to be interest in keeping a historic team like the Bills in Buffalo. With Rochester and southern Ontario nearby, the team has to make its fair share of money. Sellouts are the norm, and the fan base is rabid, as I have seen in the three years I've posted here. Mike P.S. I did listen to Rome today...I was almost embarrassed at some of the vitriol shown by my fellow Clevelanders. No wonder the teams we root for haven't won anything in 41 years. We'd rather wallow in our self-pity and negativism, and continue to take shots at an dying old man 400 miles away.
