Article in USA Today Sometimes I hate our society...the obsession with thinness (and ultra-thinness, among women) leads to things like this. Katharine McPhee is a drop-dead gorgeous woman. So she's not as skinny as Nicole Richie or Calista Flockhart in her "Ally McBeal" years. That's an asset in my book. Her curves only accentuate her appearance, like those of the best-looking woman in Hollywood, Mrs. Michael Douglas. Katharine, you are fine just the way you are. A raven-haired beauty with a first-class figure and an incredible voice. Mike

In five Years - People will be making Love
buckeyemike replied to millbank's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Hmmm..."Weird Science" becomes reality. Seriously, I think the five year statement is a little premature. These are probably the same people who said we'd be flying to work in Jetsons-like vehicles by 1995. Or that the world would run out of oil by 1985. Mike -
I got a Sirius radio for Christmas. It is one of the best gifts I've ever received. An all Elvis station? 80s music? Hair Nation? Radio Margaritaville? NFL? Blue Collar Comedy? NASCAR next year? Even a CFL game of the week? I think I'm in love. Mike

Fluffernutter fight in Massachusetts

I've never had a Fluffernutter. Until I heard the word on an MST3K episode, I didn't even know what a Fluffernutter was. Mike -
NFL asks teams not to play R&R Part 2
buckeyemike replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
R&R Part 2 is the most overplayed song in sports arenas. Second is Queen's "We Will Rock You". It would be so much better if they found some newer music to play. Music made between 1980 and now would be nice. Any suggestions? Mike -
That show reminds me of "The Perfect Storm", except that state-of-the-art animatronic fish were used in that movie. Uh, the fish in "Deadliest Catch" are real. And probably headed to a dinner table near you. PETA is a bunch of hypocrites, CTM's right about that. I have no use for that organization. Back in the day, when someone asked how they would replace animal testing, a PETA official suggested the elderly and/or the infirm. People, not animals. Mike

I wanted some information on the cemeteries in town, so I can go onto findagrave.com and attempt to find where Jeff is buried. Thank you. Mike

I wondered who'd come up with the "Dodgeball" reference first. That's why I put it out there. Mike

This is why I rarely watch A&E anymore either. That used to be a sophisticated cable network. Now, it's a joke. Time to sell "Dog the Bounty Hunter" to FX, where it belongs. Nonetheless, the whole idea of a national rock, paper, scissors tournament is a hoot. People taking a silly childhood game seriously and studying/analyzing it like it's the new Texas Hold'em. But it belongs on ESPN7 or whatever they're up to these days. Mike

about where a friend of mine is buried. It's coming up on sixteen years since Jeff Cubbon, a great guy who had a bad heart apparently from birth, died on a train in China. He was heading to Hong Kong, fell asleep and never woke up. He was from Oil City, and I remember his parents had a terrible time bringing his body back to the States. He was on a Christian missionary trip, helping to hand out Bibles to a nation that was still reeling from Tianamen Square (this was in 1990, remember). Jeff was only 21 years old, and would have been a senior in college. I'm wondering if anyone may have info regarding cemeteries in the Oil City area. Oil City is not far from Cleveland (2 1/2 hours, tops), and I am thinking about going to see him, since I may be traveling a bit this summer. I have no contact information. Any help anyone can give is appreciated. Mike

Imagine if Buffalo would have drafted Big Ben.

See, this is why I come to this board. ROTFLMAO!! Mike -
Hmmm...no "Los Angeles Bills of Buffalo" blasts yet. Mike

True. Very true. I don't even think Jenna's that cute, since she's so irritating. Mike

Please, please, please Wegman's, move west to NE Ohio. We have Heinen's (which is good), and Tops and Giant Eagle (both bad). Wegman's is simply the best food store I've ever seen. And I've only been to the McKinley location near RWS. Mike

Steelers QB Ben R. In Motorcycle Crash
buckeyemike replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I talked with my former roommate from college, who is a die-hard Steelers fan. The first words out of his mouth when he answered his phone were "I KNOW, Mike, I know." I used the verb "winslowed" once, possibly twice during that phone call. One difference: KW was being stupid in an unoccupied parking lot on a Sunday night. This happened in the middle of Downtown Pittsburgh, and I've always said that the person who designed the street layout in the Burgh should be shot. Still, that's no excuse for riding without a helmet in the middle of a busy city on a Monday morning. God forbid Bill Cowher has to go to the ER to pick up what's left of his star QB. I believe Big Ben will play again, but the Steelers will have to open their defense of a world championship with Tommy Maddox as their QB. Mike -
What are your 'crank it all the way up' songs?
buckeyemike replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in Off the Wall Archives
"Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake -- always makes me think of Tawny Kitaen before she went nuts. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles -- I'm surprised there's little on this post about the Beatles (and even less about openly supportive drug-use songs). "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones -- little on here about the Stones either, but it's one of the great all-time rock anthems. "Panama" by Van Halen -- in the mid and late 90s, I referred to Van Halen as "the last of the big time rock and roll Southern California party bands". "More than a Feeling/Amanda/We're Ready" by Boston -- any of these three are great real loud, esp. the ending of "We're Ready" with the bell chimes. Mike -
Screw those Filthy Krauts. They are mad that they

Can't the Germans just tailgate in the parking lot, eat brats and get drunk on their own beer? Like we do? Mike -
Bills & Marv Levy on ESPN Outside the Lines

I've been told sprained ankles hurt more than broken ones. This from the ER doctor, who initially gave me the Vicodin. mmmm...painkillers. Mike -

Bills & Marv Levy on ESPN Outside the Lines
buckeyemike replied to marck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, my personal pain threshhold is pretty high. Between my stomach surgery, allergy shots every 10 days or so, and giving blood every couple of months has caused my tolerance of pain and needles to skyrocket. I went to see the doc this AM...he gave me another Vicodin prescription and told me I have to stay on crutches until about Wednesday. The foot and ankle are healing, but there is still some pain...and it can get bad at times, but less so than a couple of days ago. BTW, the Vicodin does work pretty well. I'm only taking it at night to help me sleep. I can't drive when I'm on it, so I've been relying on Motrin. Mike -
Uh, speaking of Robot Chicken...you may not wanna watch this. NSFW. But very funny though, until the last 10 seconds. Mike

Yes, you are correct. Jim Rome made fun of that, so Lander called him out on it and contacted the show...actually made for a pretty good interview. Mike

Bills & Marv Levy on ESPN Outside the Lines
buckeyemike replied to marck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched it last night. I thought, hmmm...another hatchet job on the Bills by ESPN. And then I watched it. It was objective and well done...two things you don't see much by the Boys from Bristol anymore. By the way, the only reason I was up at 12:45 in the morning is because of the Vicodin I'm taking. I sprained my ankle on Monday, and the painkillers are resulting in some really weird sleep habits. Mike -
Whoa, almost missed a couple other b-days
