  1. Saw the same thing earlier today, and did a Google search. I could swear Snopes said it's an urban legend.
  2. ...and why was Florida Evans Maude's housekeeper? Maude lived in the New York City suburbs, while on Good Times, the Evans family lived in the Chicago projects.
  3. You're talking about something that's 30 years old. Ironically, John Amos, who played James Evans Sr. on the show, is still alive, while Esther died over a decade ago. In real life, John Amos is only eight years older than Jimmie Walker. This should make us all feel old. Jimmie Walker, who played JJ on Good Times, was born June 25, 1947. That makes Jimmie sixty-freakin'-two years old.
  4. Yeah, I hate those commercials too. But my wife won't let me have a gun in the house. Notice they usually happen in broad daylight as well. Apparently they all live in Gary, IN or East St. Louis.
  5. That's the way the guy really talks. Disclaimer: I've never been to this store, but my wife has. Kim says it's every bit as "unique" as the commericals.
  6. Once again, Wikipedia solves all. Thanks!
  7. Like the twin white supremacist teen girl Olsen look-alikes. I knew I'd heard of them, but had to google for their name. It's Prussian Blue. Since my views on race are vastly different from those stupid twinks, I won't bother linking to their website.
  8. Sadly, Steven Tyler may be drinking again. It could be what caused his fall at Sturgis. Tyler looks terrible in that pic.
  9. I really have to wonder what nougat is made out of.
  10. It does look amazing...will look great in Blu-Ray.
  11. LOL that's true. BTW, anyone who's ever watched arena football knows that it's likely that a punt would hit an overhead scoreboard at least once per game. The NFL's never had this problem until now, because there were no suspended video boards until now. And that video board (aka, "the Jerrytron") is the biggest HDTV ever built...that thing is amazing.
  12. He should have vacationed in Montana instead.
  13. Tom is correct, as he usually is. Thanks for clarifying. Guess there are no entitlements, then. Or a right to health care.
  14. Again, health care is not an entitlement. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are. That's it. And for those who wish to flame me, none of those three items in the above sentence include health care. If you're going for such an entitlement, you might as well include food, shelter, and free beer for all.
  15. I don't believe their are death squads in the plan. Choice, however, is another matter. Do I have a choice whether I want to opt out of Social Security? How about taxation? I just don't trust the government in this one. And to yall, .
  16. Actually, my point was freedom of choice > health care reform. But, I do like Gene's idea! Maybe we can spread it to Cuba as people leave on boats, 1959 Buicks, or wooden crates for Florida. Hey, they have to be crazy if they want to leave the land of free health care, free education, and full employment for life.
  17. Agree wholeheartedly. I'm only 40, and cannot collect anything out of SS until my 67th birthday in 2036. If I had put that money into my SEP account, my guess is it would be quite a bit higher right now. I've been self-employed since 1998. I'm responsible for my retirement and well-being in old age. No one else.
  18. The picnic in Hungary that allowed East Germans to flee to the West. One part of this I would like to note: Laszlo Nagy, one of the organizers of the picnic, was startled by the East Germans' actions, who left behind hundreds of cars and other possessions near the border for the chance to make the short walk to a new life in the West. "Some of them were waiting for this moment for 20 or 30 years," Nagy said. "They left behind everything ... because freedom has the greatest value." Please remember this in the health care debate. Do we really wish to give our right to choice to the government? I don't trust government to fix potholes, much less fix health care. I think I'm becoming more libertarian as I speak. Freedom is the greatest gift. Let's not squander it.
  19. It's not a clear and obvious upgrade. Favre led the NFL in interceptions last year. Again, Corey Webster. To this day, I think if Aaron Rodgers was the QB in that NFC Championship game, the Packers win. Favre's stats in that game: 19/35 236 yards 2 TDs, 2 INTs. Take away the 90 yd. touchdown pass to Driver (for which Driver ran the last 70 yards): 18/34 146 yards 1 TD 2 INTs. Not a great game. Favre's stats in 2008 for the Jets: 343/522 3472 yards 65.7% completion percentage 22 TDs, 22 INTs. Again, hardly spectacular. Aaron Rodgers threw for over 4,000 yards, had six more TDs, and nine fewer interceptions. Look at Tavaris Jackson's stats for 2008 and for his career: 2008 88/149 1056 yards 59.1% 9 TDs 2 INTs 95.4 passer rating Career 306/524 3442 yards 58.4% 20TDs, 18 INTs 76.5 passer rating I wouldn't have called the Vikings a mere afterthought, either. Minnesota won the NFC North, and I think they were a contender without Favre. But, I think there's a better chance of him tearing the team apart with his prima donna/me-first behavior, rather than winning the whole thing and sticking the Packers management in the eye.
  20. ...and these are the same analysts who pick the Dolphins for the Super Bowl every year. So you can take their analysis and $3.95, and get yourself a latte at Starbucks. It's rare when the favorite in August makes, and wins the Super Bowl. Suddenly, some of these analysts are wetting themselves about the Vikings going 16-0, or 19-0. The Minnesota Vikings, a franchise which you can always count on to screw things up somewhere along the way. The Vikings have not made a Super Bowl for 33 years. That's right. 33 years. It's been a quarter of a century for the Dolphins as well. There's a reason why these people are analysts and not working in the NFL.
  21. You're right, I did! BTW, if you check out ESPN.com, Cris Carter rips his former team a new one. He claims the Vikings knew all along Favre was coming back, and misrepresented this to Jackson and Rosenfels. I've been a fan of Carter's broadcasting for a while, and my opinion of him just went way up. Well done, Cris!
  22. Favre's last 4 seasons: 88 touchdowns. 84 interceptions. Not all that good, really.
  23. Two words..."Corey Webster". His INT of Favre in the NFC Championship helped put the Giants in the Super Bowl and was Favre's last pass in Green Bay. We're going to see a lot more Corey Websters this season.
  24. Almost got me, ya dildo. Why the Vikings are falling over backwards for this guy is a mystery to me. Brett, you should stay retired. Your desire for revenge against Ted Thompson will blow up in your face.
  25. Hmmm...knowing Favre's past, I will believe it when I see him on the field in Cleveland on September 13. People don't realize that the following "underrated" QBs have all won or led their teams to Super Bowls: Trent Dilfer Brad Johnson David Woodley (!) Rex Grossman (!!!) Rich Gannon Matt Hasselbeck Tony Eason Drew Bledsoe Not a Hall of Famer in that bunch. The way NFL teams are built these days, you do NOT need a superstar QB to win a Super Bowl. Defense wins championships. The Vikings could have a defense for the ages, with or without Favre. Personally, I think that Brent's presence could tear a Super Bowl contender apart. It certainly won't help Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels.
