  1. You can be objective and still not ask questions where you are looking for negative answers. He could have easily asked, what does Benjamin bring to the team that you're excited about. Instead they were acting like there was something bad about the trade they were missing and they were trying to find out what. Like I said, felt like pretty typical Schopp to me. Davis does count against it and I don't see him going anywhere either. I guess if they moved Alexander to full time DE, they could use him as the 4th DE. With the way McDermott likes to rotate to d-line so much, I don't see them cutting a solid rotational guy. Unless injuries start piling up and they go on a losing streak, I don't see them cutting these guys. They aren't fringe players like Joe Banyard or Deon Lacey. I'm sorry if my initial reply came off as aggressive. The comp pick thing is sort of a pet peeve of mine.
  2. J/k, no this will not happen. Benjamin doesn't play special teams like Holmes does. Ducasse and DiMarco are starters, so no, they're not getting cut. Hauschka has been doing very well, he's not getting cut. Just stop with the comp pick. It's not happening, get over it.
  3. Not sure he was a dick to him, just the usual downer crap. "When a team trades a player like Benjamin, don't you worry about why? Like, is there something with him?" It felt like he was trying to find out how or why this was a bad trade. It wasn't awful, but pretty typical of Schopp.
  4. In that case, you are 100% correct. F'ing sports man, mostly lows, but I can't turn away.
  5. He traveled with the team. https://twitter.com/buffalobills/status/925789918927966215
  6. Ehh. The Bills have been mostly between below average and bad the past 17 years with some boneheaded moves sprinkled in. The Browns right now are a legitimate clown show. I'm aware that the difference is not that great and as Bills fans, we don't have a lot of room to talk. That said, the Browns are on their own level when it comes to horribly managed sports franchises. Here's part of why I say this. As someone that lives in DC and wears Bills stuff all the time, I talk to random Bills / NFL fans fairly often. Non Bills fans are almost always surprised when I tell them they have the longest playoff drought in the NFL. People know they aren't very good, but like I said, it's not at the laughably bad level the Browns are at. That is brutal. I grew up in Ohio and jumped on the Bills bandwagon when I was 6 or so. It hasn't been a whole lot better over the years, but man am I glad I didn't start liking the Browns.
  7. Nice breakdown. Looking back, if there was a time that this franchise needed a "football czar," it was after the Donahoe years. Instead of bringing in Marv as GM, he should have been president of football operations and hired a GM instead of trying to become a first time GM at 80 years old. Oh well. So far I really like the current duo.
  8. Good stuff, thanks for the write up. I can't wait for tomorrow night. It could be a chippy, scrappy type game. The Jets are at home with their back against a wall. If they drop to 3-6, they're basically done for the year. I have faith McDermott will have them prepared.
  9. Seriously. I'm 90% sure that's what Matthews said. Same with most of the free agent signings. What he said is true.
  10. I read that this morning. It makes total sense that each team has to send in the deal separately. None of those are good explanations. The Browns look like total morons here.
  11. I wish they'd get rid of the mullet stripe, change it to an even, medium width stripe and then enlarge the logo just a bit. That would make their uniforms perfect imo.
  12. "Hold the ball Tate. Hold the ball." That cracked me up. I think I say that to the TV about 10 times a game, possibly even on that same play. I was hoping they'd show that play. Hell yeah.
  13. I missed that too the first couple times I watched that. I like that he gets excited, but doesn't seem to ever get too up. After the game he went right back to his usual, trust the process, coach talk. Gotta keep the guys in line and make sure they're focused on the next one. That said, I loved seeing him get pumped up with the guys.
  14. I wish I could embed this. It's John Murphy's call, some of the sideline celebration, and them McDermott talking about the play. https://twitter.com/buffalobills/status/925052737259278337
  15. Lol, go watch robot wars or something if you don't want to see people display emotion. Can you imagine a coach telling his players not to celebrate so much on the sideline, because it's not "professional?"
  16. That's interesting. I think if I was a coach, I'd want the inactive guys on the sideline, but I guess I understand the potential distraction.
  17. That doesn't make sense to me. Inactives aren't announced until about an hour before the game. What if someone tweaks an ankle a couple hours before the game? If they are announced as out for the game before they travel, that makes sense. If someone is healthy though, it doesn't make sense to me why they wouldn't travel with the team. In Gilmore's case, it sounds like's still in concussion protocol. As Ed_Formerly_of_Roch mentioned, they might have sent him home to continue to rest. If he left on his own, that'd be interesting.
  18. A drunk Ryan with Romo would be absolutely incredible. Ryan: 3rd and short, full blitz here, get that mother f&%*$er! Romo: Well that leaves man to man and WR X does a tremendous job getting open in the middle of the field which could lead to a big play. Ryan: I'd still blitz. *Defense blitzes and a big play occurs.* Ryan: They should blitz again. Romo: ... Anyway, huge game here. Get the win and they finish the first half of the season in great position, plus with the Thursday game, it's a mini bye and hopefully they can get a few players healthy and rested for the home stretch. The Raiders game made me feel better about where they are at. I don't love relying on turnovers to get stops and that's kind of how the TB game went. Against the Raiders, they created some turnovers, but they also forced punts and were very stout on 3rd downs. Tyrod is getting better and better. He's still missing throws you wish he would make, but all NFL QB's miss throws. I feel pretty good about this game, but Thursday night, divisional games can easily go either way.
  19. I was thrilled to see the defense not only create turnovers, but play well on third down and force punts. The previous 5-2 start with fitz, the defense forced a bunch of turnovers, but couldn't stop anyone. Last week against TB gave me that same feeling and after the first drive, I was worried about their inability to create stops. After that first drive though, they did a great job stopping the run, forcing long 3rd downs, and making stops. Some very iffy penalties took away some first downs in the red zone. I'd like to see some more TDs from the offense, but I'm not going to nit pick too hard right now, awesome win!
  20. Seeing Gase's mannerisms on the sideline make me love McDermott's enthusiastic ways. Watching Gase pout on the sideline made me cringe and I can't imagine it breeds a lot of confidence into the team.
  21. I don't think it's fair to say LBs can cover him, that was one play. I remember one play a few years ago when Hughes carried Gronk up the field and caused an incompletion, does that mean Gronk can be covered by DE's? I wouldn't argue against someone saying Zay is hurting the offense so far. Lurker brings up a good point about his route running and if he's where he needs to be on these miss throws by Tyrod. I would imagine that would be a big concern from the coaching staff and something he'd get moved down the depth chart for, so for the simple fact that he's still seeing a ton of snaps, it seems like he's doing his job.
  22. The targets to catch stat isn't helpful. What's he supposed to do when five of his targets aren't catchable? The first pass of the game would have been a tough catch, the defender was right on him. If your going to criticize him on that play, criticize the route. The one he bobbled was a clear drop. The deep throw into the end zone, he needs to do better at selling the out route, the LB never fell for that. He still might have had it had he not been tripped up. Obviously he needs to do better, but you can't just look at 2 catches on 9 targets and make a conclusion about his performance.
  23. Miller is inactive because if he's active and Groy isn't, there's no backup center. Groy plays G if someone goes down during the game, just like he did yesterday. He's active because he has more versatility than Miller
  24. Tyrod did a good job of running when there was space and more importantly, moving around in the pocket and then finding receivers. The throw to Thompson on the last TD drive was probably the best, but he also had a big conversion on the throw to O'Leary on a 3rd and long. He seems to be getting more and more comfortable in the pocket, both making throws and not bailing out at the first sign of pressure. I think they need to find a replacement for Preston Brown. He's just not good enough in coverage. Humber looked good until he got hurt and so far Milano looks good. Lots of good signs from this team. Like you said, most certainly imperfect, but it was great to get a tight win when it feels like these almost always go the other way.
