Could Cordy Glenn really start off season on 2nd string?
klos63 replied to pbanach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree, however, I don't believe this will happen. I can't imagine either Kujo or Henderson are better then Glenn. But if they are, that is a good thing for the line, it means we are better than last year. Don't look at it as a revolving door, look at it as improving 2 key positions, maybe 3 if Glenn is a better guard. But honestly, I expect Glenn to start at LT. -

If they move him to guard, that means they don't think he's one of the 2 best tackles on the team. That means they wouldn't want to pay him starting tackle money because he wouldn't be worth it in their opinion. I would be pleasantly surprised, or more likely totally shocked if Kujo and Henderson were good enough to start the season at tackle. But if they were both better than Glenn, good for the team. Glenn could decide whats best for him next year as far as a contract goes, just like every free agent does. -

Bills Release Jeff Tuel and Claim Matt Simms

Let's just take a second to think about how ridiculous a statement this is. -

Waste of time for who? If Simms is better than Tuel, why not make the move. One QB goes down, we'll need another one. -

Is 'god dam' reverence much different then just plain ' reverence'? But you're correct- I should have used a different term. So can everyone just lighten up a bit now. Christ. Man, you need to get out more. Going back on my old posts... even I'm not interested in those. It's a holiday weekend, have some fun.(I"m just busting on you, not being serious) -

I didn't leave Buffalo 35 years ago, not sure where you pulled that one from. Also, you don't need to be geographically close to a situation to understand it. There are ways to stay on top of things... internet, newcasts.... I stand by what I said, Ralph was a target during the down years, and there were way too many down years. -

I started going to games in 1970, if you are old enough to go back that far, there were very few kind words said about Ralph back then. there is a bit a wiggle room in between those 2 criteria. If you can grasp that. -

Ok how's this. As a private citizen, Ralph seemed like a wonderful person. Did a lot for charity. Thumbs up. As a owner of a football team, pretty lousy record over 50+ years. I , like most people, are excited about the Pegulas because they appear to bring to the team what Wilson did not, a total commitment to winning. I don't think criticism of his football record is 'denigrating' the man. It's a fair critique. -

Ralph was trashed more often than not during his ownership. In my opinion, deservedly so. If he could have learned how to work with people like Chuck Knox, Polian, and Butler, we probably wouldn't have had such long stretches of failure. When he neared the end, we got emotional about him, it happens, he seemed like a very nice gentleman. But as far as football goes. Not too good. -

Sorry, didn't know there was a rule about not criticizing Ralph. Please tell me what we are allowed to say in this forum. -

I can't show you that but I can show you a video of a half empty stadium in a playoff game in Buffalo where fans left at halftime, gave up on their team and missed the greatest comeback ever? This after a couple AFC championships in the years prior. How about fans that beg the owner to buy his own tickets to avoid a blackout, then claim to be great fans because they sell out all the time, this after reducing the seating capacity by thousands. There are stupid , emotional fans everywhere. As much in Buffalo as anywhere else. I don't pay much heed to these comments. I'm guessing the Pats will have no problem selling tickets this year. -

I think a lot of what I've read recently is true, there is a lot of jealousy regarding the Pats. -

so they are criticizing their owner? Let's look at the last 50 years of comments about Ralph until he croaked. Nothing very positive about him until the end. -

You attack basically a whole NFL team fan base you get upset with a personal comment about you? I am sure the Buffalo transplants have very objective opinions. I'll take back calling you stupid, that was wrong. But I will call your post stupid. I remember going to Bills games with 25000 people in attendance- are we crappy fans too? The concept of signing a player to a long term deal is not just to get a team friendly deal, but to secure a top talent. To sign him now I think would be a mistake. Although I have faith in him to return to form, it's risky now. And I doubt he would sign a lesser deal now, knowing that a big season would mean huge dollars for him next year. and honestly, asking me to talk to hundreds of transplants living in those areas hardly counts as 'backing up' your claim. -

That was quite a generalization of a large group of people. Don't suppose you can qualify those statements. Patriots have been around as long as the Bills and obviously have a better track record then we do. You don't have to like them, but to make up crap like this makes you look pretty stupid. IMO I think Glenn needs to have a much better year than last to offer him a big long term deal. Don't think his value is very high right now. Had a bad season last year. -

i thought it was a home game? Gore ran for 1100 yards 4.3 per carry last year. Not bad for having nothing left. -

It's silly to think missing one of the top rated defensive players in the league won't potentially cause some problems. It only takes one or 2 plays to make a difference. We are going against an explosive offense. We need everything we have. -
Yes they would. He's a good , young QB. I would take him in a heartbeat.
-
why would you say he isn't the most gifted athlete , seems to me that anyone that could excel at the professional level would be considered an exceptional athlete.

We will find out a lot more once they actually start practicing and playing preseason games. It will be very noticeable how much Fred has left. He did lose a step, which doesn't mean his is ineffective, but not as effective. My guess is that this year, he will lose a bit more, it's natural. If you really want to make an educated guess on what will happen, wait til the preseason starts.
