  1. Not that rational reasons should be given to shoot this idea down, but you do realize 5 minutes is about the average time of a drive, so you could lose a top player on maybe a weak or questionable call for a full drive, maybe 2 or 3 if it's a 10 minute call? I know it's the offseason, but let's get back to the reality of what actually might occur. Example - Hughes goes to sack the QB ,gets a piece of his helmet, out for 5 minutes, chases RB out of bounds, gets a close call on late hit out of bounds, now we lose him for 10 more minutes. Defense on the field around 30 a game max - he's gone for 15 right now.
  2. Can't imagine they would have to leak this. They would just tell the agent that they will tag him. This isn't a guessing game, both sides usually sit down and have a reasonable discussion on the contract. Leaks and other tactics usually aren't necessary.
  3. so Jerry Hughes pats his teammate on the head, the ref screws up and we lose our best defensive player for 5 minutes, maybe longer. Get real. Sorry, but a dumb idea that would get you laughed out of the room if you brought it up.
  4. The cap is very reasonable for teams as it stands now. Very few teams are ever really in 'cap hell'. It's usually just reporters and some fans that think they know all there is to know on handling the cap. In a matter of a few hours yesterday the Bills created about 12MM in cap relief, and have the ability to save quite a bit more without doing to many drastic moves. Everyone needs to just relax regarding the cap. I'm more worried about the coaching staff/
  5. My point was to tag and negotiate a deal starting this season.
  6. You're over thinking this( i think, typos???) Tag if need be, buys time to sign to a long term deal and tear up the tag. I'm confident Glenn will sign a long term deal with the Bills.
  7. Isn't this the last year of his contract? So the sky isn't falling? (still? again?)
  8. But he said he relaxed a bit last year, so I don't think that is an accurate statement, by Hogans own admission.
  9. Having your draft choices start or contribute immediately is how you help manage the cap. You replace the veteran contracts with rookie ones. It's pretty simple. All teams do that.
  10. I would think very few teams have the luxury of not needing their top 2 picks to contribute right away if they expect to be a better team than last year.
  11. If we didn't sign A Williams to an extension, or agree to the option on gilmore or resign Dareus or trade for McCoy and kept Fred, didn't add a year to Kyle Williams deal, we'd be in pretty good cap situation, especially after releasing Mario. And everyone would be happy, right? No more cap issues.
  12. When you are a professional athlete, you are put in these types of situations. You live or die with your performance. He was on the team to make that kick, he missed it. You take the criticism along with the praise for the ones he made. Yes, the team made mistakes during the game, but they put him in a position to bail them out , he didn't. No need for him to dwell on this any longer than he has, but let's face the facts, you miss, you wear the goat horns. Fair or not.
  13. need to make the playoffs in order to win the Super Bowl.
  14. where does this number come from ? I'm sure most are good, but if they were really good people, one or 2 of them might have the balls to stand up and and say... Yeah , he shouldn't have shot that kid that had a toy gun!
  15. Excellent points! and I expect the offense to improve even more this season.
  16. Best posts ever in one thread. Well done!
  17. no reason to apologize, wasn't a criticism.
  18. if nothing else, you win the prize for most NFL defensive terminology in one post.
  19. Would you call in sick and screw over your employer?
  20. It's odd that I look forward to the next paragraph when reading a BN article.
  21. stop, going to have nightmares about this now.
  22. I don't really know, except as we've been hearing for years, luxury boxes, suites..., all the revenue generated from those go to the owner - 100%, no split with the visiting team like the regular seats sold. Suites in LA will go for a lot more than in St. Louis. Lot of $$$$$$. And I think the team's value increases tremendously. Imagine if the Bills, sold for 1.4B, moved to LA, probably worth $3B.
  23. The thing is, every team does this. I don't understand why. It's ridiculous when you see a replay and wonder wtf the guy was thinking hitting him in the back. Must be something about the speed and recklessness of ST.
  24. Maybe, but I bet if Marrone stayed on as coach, we make the playoffs this year.
