ST coaches are almost all about specialty players. We had great coverage when Easley was healthy. When Carpenter was sharp and Schmidt kicked well, Crossman looked great. Obviously coaches contribute, but look at Bobby April, he's had some pretty horrible ST units recently.

Most coaches move around a lot during their career, even the good ones. It's the nature of the job. To call someone a retread is an insult and unfair. It's also very naive. Turner has had a great deal of success during his career and has earned any opportunities that come his way.

After not hiring Schwartz, the Bills did offer him the opportunity to stay on the staff(it may have just been for show). It didn't work out, but Schwartz was willing to stay.

Sometimes people are very impressive and earn a chance to be HC. Just because Rex was a bad hire, doesn't mean the next guy will be too.

I'm not sure he's considered the hot defensive coordinator now, maybe last season when the Panthers made the Super Bowl. He's a seasoned coordinator with a fairly lengthy resume. I'm not sure what type of hire you are looking for. Nobody knows whether someone will succeed or not. He's earned his chance.
