This isn't hockey where you have opportunities to hit someone legally and add a little cheap shot to it. To go out of your way to injure someone would be just as bad as what Gronk did. I feel like i'm teaching my kids life lessons about revenge. I tell my kids to be the bigger person. The league suspended him for a game, it probably should have been more, but it wasn't a slap on the wrist. This isn't vigilante justice here. If the players are distracted by Gronk- we have less of a chance to win than originally thought, and we need to win Sunday.

that's just plain stupid.

Is that thing still around?

Mike Tolbert - Pro Bowl FB Alternate?
klos63 replied to BoccesOnTransit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I checked his split stats when we signed him. He wasn't terribly effective as a short yardage back, no more than the average RB. As to why couldn't he learn? I don't know, but he's 31, has never really done it in his career, just doesn't seem to make much sense to try. I may be wrong, but really, we need to use DiMarco more in that role. He played well against Miami, don't recall him being used as much all season until last week. -
Mike Tolbert - Pro Bowl FB Alternate?

Because he's not a fullback, he's never had to be a lead blocker and he's never been a short yardage back. The guy has been in the league for a long time, it's amazing to me that so many people have no idea what kind of player he is/was. He was a great receiver out of the backfield early in his career, he's never been a short yardage back for any significant time. Just because he's bigger than most backs, doesn't mean he could be a successful fullback. He's a running back, not a fullback. -
Seahawks fans and Pete Carroll

He got the team to 2 Super Bowls and won the first one. They've been a contender since he was hired. They're having a tough year. I think he's pretty obnoxious on the sidelines but his record speaks for itself. -
While unlikely, Browns could end up with #1 & #2 picks

Emtman was never really healthy, Coryatt was pretty good if I remember correctly. -

Has officiating ever NOT been a problem?

Bills/Steelers playoff game, I think the one Bruce missed out sick. Joe Gibbs was a studio guy and went nuts about calls evening out. This was before replay and the Steelers scored twice on plays that should not have counted. Gibbs went on a rant... I can't stand when people say calls even out, how will this even out for Buffalo, they will be out of the playoffs because of this..... or something to that effect. -

It doesn't even out, that's just a cliche, not a fact. -

Paul Stewart was an NHL ref and former player. He said as a ref he only wanted to call penalties on plays that pissed you off as a player. Always thought that was a good approach. The NFL needs to change the degree of violation on special teams holding and illegal blocks- they should be more generous in letting those penalties go. Special teams penalties kill positive field position, eliminates some exciting returns and keeps scoring down and allows for conservative play calling as drives often start inside your own 20. Penalties away from the play that don't affect the play in any way should be considered allowable. Call the penalties that affect the play. I don't understand the illegal formation penalties- not sure how they help the offense. Stop calling those too. So what the WR doesn't cover the end, where's the advantage? -
I just don't see this regime keeping Taylor unless we win a playoff game and he's a big reason. He doesn't fit what they want in a QB. I do think the draft and available FA QB's will play a role. I hope they don't turn the offense over to a rookie QB next season. So we will need a veteran QB for next season. We'll see , I guess.

I won't call him a bust, but he hasn't done anything of note. I may be wrong, but I don't recall any of his catches being of the difficult kind. For the amount of playing time and targets, he's been a disappointment.

It's hard to tell these days.

Sure, because that would be a really stupid thing to do.

Making progress will hamper the future- that could be your life's motto.

I find nothing meaningless about a playoff berth.

he might want to watch Gilmore avoid hits in order to play a few games in a row. How do we give him a contract this offseason?
-
say's the person who doesn't want us to make the playoffs so we can draft higher.

I have been told I look younger than my age, so that might confuse you. i have no idea how this answers my question of how Taylor nearly gave away the game yesterday.

Do we make the upset in Foxboro?

this isn't hockey- you can't just go after someone. If they are worried about him, we are in trouble -

First- that's not a Cutler like performance- did you watch the game yesterday Second - what has Peterman done to make you think the can have a day like you hope for? Third- Come on! Be serious -
the main objective of the season is to win games and get in the playoffs and continue to win. The object isn't to give up late and worry about draft position. Isn't 17 years long enough to "wait til next season" What we are witnessing is a team trying to make the playoffs. I can't remember being excited for a game 15 in a long time. I don't even think about next years draft until the season is over.

yep, i think we hit him as he threw the last INT. But we still have a better QB.
-
We have a better QB and that often is the difference between winning and losing. How did Taylor nearly give it away in the 2nd half. We weren't close to losing that game.
