Post more, please. Good to see you back.

I have to disagree. If they lose out and finish 4-12, how do you conclude that they're any better than Jauron and Trent in 2008? At some point winning has to be the result, not just looking good in losses. Now, in no way do I think the Bills will lose out. But, if they did, I'd be firmly off the Fitz and Chan bandwagon and hard pressed to believe that any progress had been made at all.

Almost all analyst's are picking the Bills this week?

Actually, I prefer: "Holy crap! Can we stop correcting grammar?" -
I really hope someone has shown this to Fitz. I'd love for him to throw the game winning touchdown, then with his back to the Giants bench do one of those gestures where he points to the name on the back of his jersey before running off chest pumping his Oline!
-
Excellent point. Hopefully, that was the plan and we lull the Giants into some bad coverages early in the game that we can take advantage of. One thing I will readily say... this coaching staff is excelling at game planning for each of our opponents each week. You can see it in the changing game plans as well in the player's press conference remarks. How many times have we heard that they practiced something all week and then they saw exactly that in the game? It's one of the reasons that I truly feel this team can and will compete with any team in the league right now.

Any defensive coordinator worth a dime is going to play within 10-15 yards of the LOS and take away our short passing game while filling the running lanes. The Bills have zero deep threat right now. Did Fitz even attempt a pass 20+ yards downfield against Philly? Until we find a deep passing threat, or at least pretend like we have one and take a few shots downfield, I really think we're going to see the offense start to bog down. By all accounts the Giants are a good pass rush team; so I don't think we need to change our offensive approach much from the Philly game. But, I would definitely add a few shots, per quarter to Smith or anyone streaking down the field just to keep the safeties off the LOS.

I honestly don't know how Martz keeps getting a job. The guy has an offense that he runs regardless of the opponent and regardless of the talent on his team. Cutler continues to get killed, Chicago fans are ready to run him out of town, and Martz just keeps throwing him to the wolves. I am so happy he didn't become our head coach.

I couldn't agree with you more. By all accounts, he's a good guy and I hope he does well in the NFL. However, I'm really glad he's not a Bill. For whatever reason, Tebow is just a very polarizing individual. Look at this thread - and he's not even on our team. That's the last thing this team needed or needs is more polarizing players that divide the team and fan base, intentionally or not. I lived through the Flutie years and Tebow has the potential to be twice the lightning rod he ever was! Who needs it?

Remember when people thought Lynch > Jackson?
Dan replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've wanted Jackson to be our starter since I saw him playing in NFL Europe, however many summers ago that was now. The guy looked like a beast then just as much as he does now. I was against the trading of Lynch, not because I wanted him over Jackson, but more that I just saw it as more of the same running in place that this team had been doing for a decade. Trade a good RB, just so you can draft a good RB. Now maybe Lynch's attitude or some other off the field issue made him expendable. That, I don't know. But, as far as on the field production goes... there's not a lot of difference between Lynch and Spiller. I truly hope Spiller changes that! -
Once again the Bills game gets the nod for NFL Replay. http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/networkschedule?selectedDate=10/11/2011&field=selectedDate

The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.

Care to elaborate? What hype? By whom? Who's believing what? Inquiring minds want to know.... -
IMO, I think this is where overall talent level comes into play. The Bills offense has been successful largely due to the system and the play calling, not because they're just over powering people. The last two games, in the 4th quarter, we played the line up and run right at you game. And that's when they've looked least effective. I would guess/hope that as our line develops and grows and gains experience, they'll get to the point where they can just simply out match the defense. But for now, we're most successful and consistent when our runs are disguised in some fashion, in effect spreading the defense out. In regards to Hairston, Gailey is on record as saying that Bell gets his job back when he's healthy. And, IMO, that's the way it should be. Bell played very well, just as Hairston did. But, as a rookie, he will almost certainly have his good and bad days. Bell is likely to be the more consistent player. But, could it be that's the Bills actually have a solid, developing line... with some depth? For 2 consecutive weeks we've had a guard and a tackle come in off the bench and the offense really didn't miss a beat. I think some of us may have thought the line was going to be ok this year, but who would have thought we'd have 2 starters get injured and have the depth to cover them? To say that what this team is accomplishing right now is exceeding most everyone's wildest expectations when the season started, is a huge understatement.

Serioualy. First, you compare this team to one that had 4 HOF players, 1 HOF coach, and 1-2 may still be HOF players. Then you pull out the old "our winning is hurting our draft position" argument. I'm guessing this is a good sarcastic post. well played, sir. -

You may be right. But, then again, maybe they'll find other ways to win games. I don't know. In the meantime, as long as we're leading the division and are 1 of 9 teams with 1loss or fewer, I have no problem waiting a year or 2 to become a top team. -
I was of the opinion... do exactly what they did; trying to get them to jump. Then at 1-2 seconds on the play clock hike and QB sneak for the 6 inches. I really didn't want our defense back on the field at that point.
-
Exactly. I couldn't agree more. I think we all agree that neither our defense or offense are elite. They both have a lot to learn and a lot of room for improvement. But, we're in the 2nd year of a complete rebuild and we're 4-1; beating some pretty darn good teams. I'll take that all day long. So, let's talk about what we can do better, sure. But, to say this is a bad team or a far from good team or in any need of major change (new defensive coordinator) is just nonsense.
-
I think if we can make the statement that "Ralph is cheap", we can also state that he's giving many of the fans exactly what they want. It seems for every Ralph is cheap post; there's two more questioning why we're paying some player money.

Jason Peters...Surprise Surprise..

<br />Lord knows we don't want or need any depth on our O line! Trade him for a 7th rounder. -
If you thought WE looked like crap today...
Dan replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Today's loss sucks because it's a team we should be able to beat... and we were up 17-3 on at the half. But, now it's all about how they respond next week. They're still leading the division after the first month of football. The Dolphins look hopeless. The Jets are in the process of imploding. So it's us and the Pats*... we just have to refocus and come out playing solid next week. Of the next 2 games, Philli looks to be the much easier one. So let's get the win and go into the buy no worse than 4-2. -
Stupid comparisons to the 2008 season can finally end.
-
I agree. I think that's what most people are missing. Merriman has played the first 3 games more as a DE with a hand on the ground going one on one with the LT. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm not sure. that's his strong suit, but it does help us set the edge to contain the run game.

One of the best, if not the best, articles on the Bills I've read in years. Just awesome read. It definitely captures the greatness of the team and the area, and the connection between us. I must admit, I've been in an exceptional mood all week! Immediately after the game, I was so excited I called my mom and 2 of my sisters; it was all I could do to push the buttons. The feeling of elation was blinding. Inevitably and daily over the last couple of weeks... I've pondered those exact same two questions. My answer: I don't know; but for now... I'm savoring every moment of the week with each win. Go Bills!

I was just saying the same thing to a buddy of mine yesterday. The Jets are primed for an implosion. I'm not say it will happen; but a mini losing streak could easily make the wheels come off that team. All the bragging and egos are great as long as you're winning. But, lose a few and it all sounds completely different.
