Just gonna say… play of the game. That was just one of those plays that crushes a team and makes the game seem hopeless. Gotta give our coach some credit, to go do that. I was thinking kick the FG. 9pt lead is still 2 scores with a team that was having trouble moving the ball. But they went for the kill shot. Then when it wasn’t a run I was screaming …holy F’in *****!!!!! Then Josh Allen did Josh Allen things and all was right in the world. Big time ballsy call to go for it. Big time ballsy call to not run it. And Josh just ..I don’t know what goes through is mind… but he’s got ice in his veins to keep his composure in that situation. Just an incredible play. Next most important series…. Not giving up a first down after the fake punt. Huge huge! You gotta think the Broncos planned that all week to steal a possession. And it worked!! Then they still had to punt. But the real killer.. after downing it at the half yard line… the Bills just methodically moved the ball and flipped the field position on them. That was the beginning of the end. The Bills took their best shots… and we’re still right there in control of the game. I’m gonna enjoy this win after watching everyone say we’d be upset and Surtain made it impossible for us to run that 4x1 offensive set and all the crap! Not to mention their defense would force Josh into sacks and turnovers. LOL. Let’s enjoy this! We can start to hyperventilate about the Ravens in a day or 2. Go Bills!

So seems like nothing really is gonna change after today. Bills road to the SB is still Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs. And KC gets a gift wrapped championship game to ensure they’re healthy and well rested.

The New McDermott - Great Buscaglia Article
Dan replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in The Stadium Wall
I definitely go back and forth. Overall, yes, he’s a great guy and very good coach. My concern, as with many people, is what is he going to do to get over the “KC hill” in the playoffs. This year, IMO, will be telling. We've have 4 consecutive years in the playoffs, and 4 consecutive years beat… largely due to defensive deficiencies. We’ve all seen that. We've all discussed the injuries, philosophies, and decisions that led to the team's losses. My issue is mostly that it seems each year McD and the FO just stick to the same plan and hope for a better outcome. They're steady, consistent, follow their process. They need to change something, and if they can't then no matter how good they are …we need a change at the top. This year… we'll see. I'm optimistic because the team seems to be healthy. But that's by design. They've managed the roster and the game plans, since the bye to be healthy. They've intimidated that they're saving things for the playoffs. Have they? Will it be enough? Do they have new wrinkles in the defensive and offensive game plans to throw each opponent off? Can they actually turn it up a notch when needed? This is the playoffs, steady and consistent, doing what you did all year won't get you to the Super Bowl. Hopefully, they finalize realize that. For me, that's what McD needs to do to finally turn that last corner to go from being a good coach.. to a great coach. Go Bills! -
Agreed. It’s a bit much the amount of disrespect being given to the #2 seed in the AFC. It’ll be a bit interesting to see how the team responds to all this come Sunday at 1:00. I really hope the Buffalo media asks every player about why everyone feels they suck so bad.

I think most people are just using stats from week 18? oh i get it. The Bills are the better team. They should absolutely win this game, and I think easily. Now, Denver is a good team… they made the playoffs afterall. We all know that any team can win on any week. And certainly Denver can upset us. But, its surprising to me how so many people are talking about this game. Someone actually talked about a potential shootout and wondered if Buffalo's offense would be able to keep pace?! Like seriously wtf. I'm going to stop watching the game coverage today… its been abysmal.
-
The Bills will never do that. They would pull the starters in the late 3rd or 4th quarter and go vanilla to try and keep players healthy for next week. I think pundits are saying the Bills have all the pressure because this is the 5th consecutive playoffs for them. They need to take care of business and make it to the championship game. And due to a weird break in the space time continuum, the Broncos defense have transmogrified into the ‘85 Bears and no one can score on them. Did you know they also have a DB that literally covers half the field.. I mean you don't even look at the side of the field he's on because he will smite you.

vuvuzela shaped like a ***** and you’re on to something.

Thats what I’ve thought as I see all these pieces. The unique thing about Josh…he wasn’t THE guy that received all the scholarships and had success at every step. He’s had to work at each stage to be successful. The pro game was no different. He knew he was behind guys like Mayfield. He knew he had to work harder… plus he had the upbringing that taught him humility enough to want to learn. So he not only got the training.. he listened to it. He adapted his style of play and his mechanics to be who he is. Not many first round QBs have the humility to do what he did. And most have been playing as the #1 guy for so long they don’t truly believe they need to change their mechanics or preparation. And ..that.. is why Josh is a unicorn. He was drafted #7 but realized he still had a lot to learn.. a lot to change.. to become the player he wanted to be. And he was willing to put in the work to do all that.

Agreed… Josh throws for 950 yards!

I can’t see how anyone would be overlooking the Chiefs. No doubt, Denver has had a great year. I have several good friends that are lifelong Broncos fans. They've really had a fun year, and I'm happy for them. I just really, really hope it ends this Sunday! I expect it to. It should, really. The Bills by most every metric are the better and more experienced team. Anything can happen and you certainly can’t take the Broncos lightly, but this is the last game of the year that Buffalo should win, if they just do what they've been doing.
-
So we're already moving the goalposts? If the Bills win the Superbowl..it still wont be enough to be happy about this team. Honestly, I expect nothing less from many posters here.

All evidence points to the offense as being perfectly fine. I agree, I think we need more talent around Allen. But I think that talent needs to be on the defensive side of the ball. We need that one or two players in defense that can take a game over and get the ball back in Allen’s hands when needed. I’d be perfectly happy bringing the offense, as is, back. But they need to find a LB and/or DE that can do what no one on the defense can.. take over a game. In essence I think talk of improving the offense is misguided, as long as it’s the defense that is limiting our success. This playoff season still to be determined.

After reading this whole thread and watching all the pundit talk show… I've adjusted my expectations. I hope we can just keep it to a 3 score game at half time, so the Bills can hopefully close the gap and only lose by 7-10 pts and not be completely embarrassed. Man I wish we coulda gotten an easier team, someone like the Chiefs, in the WC round. How did we end up facing the leagues best defense that shuts everyone down and the leagues most dynamic QB in the WC round!? It just aint right. Fire everyone and hire anyone to replace them. We suck. And its only Wednesday!
-
I'm not sure I agree with that. The Bills had one of the best offenses in the history of the league. Period. They don't need to add much to it. Maybe retain players. Yes. But, more importantly, in my mind… retain the services of Joe Brady. It would be really nice to not replace our OC yet again!

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
Dan replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think its doable. Let me draw up some ideas and run them by you. With our sign off, I'm sure we can get the rest of the budget overdraft committee to approve it and we'll have that over to the contractor before Friday. -
I agree. I get the feeling from interviews that the Bills are much more aware of the need to change things up in the playoffs. They seem to have very purposefully rested players and backed off on the offensive and defensive play calls when they could, especially in the last month. Having the division wrapped up at Thanksgiving certainly helped! It’s a definite advantage not being in must win games every week till the last game of the season. I’m hopeful, like KC always seems to do, they are able to turn it up a notch and pull out new twists to their game plans to keep each opponent guessing.
-
Is that based on PFF “win rates” or one of those metrics that means they’re running around a lot but not actually sacking the QB? Because one of those players has 13.5 sacks, more than the other 2 combined.

Thank you for attempting to get the conversation back onto this weeks game. Are you suggesting that he is so good, he’ll single handedly shut down our entire WR core? Which game was it….Detroit? That they completely took Cooper out of the game. How did that go for them? I’m not as worried about Surtain. Let him blanket whoever he wants. I’m more interested, as Boyst pointed out, in using the outside run game to keep their defensive line and pass rushers too busy to T off on Josh. Establish the run, hit the open guy quickly. It’s a formula the Bills have done pretty effectively in many of their games. Defesively… this game should favor us. Their strength is passing. But… let’s just hope we don’t make their pedestrian run game look all world as they are apt to do at times. Stop the run early and force the game onto the rookies shoulders.

This game is finally here! I've been waiting weeks for this.. I suspect the team has as well. Denver is a good team. They're solid all around and Nix is going to be a good QB for years. This by no means is an easy, blow out type win. I hope the team is up for it. And that is my only true concern for this game. Can the Bills turn it on and play hard from the opening whistle? Which comes back to my initial thought… I've been waiting for this week. Think about the way this season ended. The Bills played the Chiefs forever ago, it seems. Then had their bye. Came out of that on fire and destroyed SF to win the division. At that point, the seeding wasn't set but it felt the worst of the season was over.. they had secured a playoff spot. Then we had the shoot out with the Rams, and a chance to see how they stack up against the leagues best team at the time… Detroit. Since then.. its been 3 weeks of playing out the string, trying not to get any significant injuries and not put anything more on tape. So, understandably, I think a lot of pundits are looking at the last month and seeing a different team than what they were back in November. But, if the Bills can turn it back on, ramp it up and get into the proper mindset. This game is not a concern. They just have to survive the 1st quarter. The Broncos are going to come out on fire to prove they belong. Nix will be slinging it and running… he hasn't been playing long enough to realize the magnitude of the game. If the Bills can get into gear, survive that initial surge of adrenaline by the Broncos, this game will settle into an easy win, I think. I don't see a blowout, but I see them in control of the game easily. Go Bills!

1/5/2025 Week 18 GAMEDAY Bills @ Patriots* Post Game Thread

Yep! Fired -
This should be the healthiest we’ve been going into the playoffs. Hopefully it stays that way…. No more excuses. Just get it done!

Bills fans are cheap. I see a lot of comments about how TJ or RD can just step right in. And they do, and perform extremely well. But… how many times has either broken off a 40+ yd touchdown run? Those kind of home run RBs that can score from anywhere on the field aren’t common. We shouldn’t be in such a hurry to dismiss that aspect of our offense and Cook’s ability to change a game on any carry. I hope he’s given an extension here, when appropriate. And I hope he doesn’t just chase the highest offer because there’s always someone willing to overpay. I have full confidence Beane will look at his value and abilities and make him a fair offer based on the that. And that it will be higher the an half this board would like. But then again half this board thought he overspent for Spencer and Knox and Oliver and anyone not names Josh.
-
Agreed… there’s a balance but you have to give a few of the guys a series or 2 to hit certain milestones that likely lead to bonus $$. I would give Cook 2 series, max, to hit 1,000 yds and get a touchdown. Josh gets 1 series, max, handing it off to Cook. I’m sure there’s a few others. A few don’t even dress… Bernard, Benford, Rapp (just to protect our other players), Cooper, Shakir, Brown and Dawkins maybe.
