Gronk Suspended for One Game by the NFL - Appeal Denied
Dan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What are they gonna do to the Bills? Take away draft picks that we squander any way? LOL We might not make the playoffs, if they punish the team. -
Without a real QB, none of the moves on or off the field matter.
-
And I think we can ...all.. agree that we hope they're successful in the rebuild.
-
So we all know the future of who would re-sign and who wouldn't? I do agree... They wanted alot of draft picks and they traded away most anyone they could to get it and reshape the roster in their image. It's one hell of a risky move, and one that is likely to take 3 years to see the results. I just think too many people are giving them credit for this great draft and the amazing future we're going to have. I'll be impressed when they field a team that can compete in the NFL every week and not put up 8 yards of offense in the third quarter, or whatever it ended up being.
-
Sure. As others have suggested, the "loses" were due to the current FO getting rid of those players, the "unheralded" additions were hand picked as the replacements by the current FO. So, they dug their own hole. Now we should be impressed that they put the dirt back in it? Many people may have predicted or expected a 4-6 win season, but not me. But I guess I think differently. As I see it, if you're making the roster changes they made, they must think the new guys are much better than the old guys; so we should be better not worse than the previous year. So if we end up with the same record or a game better, why should I be impressed? Now... granted, I'm not saying the team is in disarray and McD needs to be replaced as some are. I am suggesting that for the good they did this season (5-2 start), there's also been a lot of bad. And much of that bad is self-inflicted (starting Nate when he was obviously not ready and costing us a win). So, I'm certainly not impressed. I get the argument that these players were bad and didn't buy into the process; therefore, they needed to go. But, at some point isn't it the coaches job to get players to buy in as opposed to just dumping them all if they don't immediately? In my opinion, and I know it doesn't mean much, but one of the reasons this franchise has mired in mediocrity is because we have a history of dumping good players simply because they don't like it here, while keeping lesser talented players because they buy in. As much as we need a franchise QB, we need a coach that can convince talented players to play hard each week ...for Buffalo. So, no I'm not impressed with anything the Bills have done this year. They avoided a full tank and gave us all some excitement and that is good. But, until all their moves translates into a team that can actually show up and look like a hard-hitting professional team capable of playing with anyone in the league... They're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. I guess I could have summed all that up and just said... I expected the Patriots to beat us by 4 scores yesterday. But, we only got beat by 3 scores... That's impressive.
-
Exactly. They gutted the roster. So now we should think its good that they got their hand picked, lesser talented guys to perform as well as last year?
-
No its not.

You cannot ignore the fact that this team needs him to make another run. And when have they ever been punished properly? I would suspect a $12,500 fine and a letter sent to all the teams saying they should not do anything like that. I'll add... The league should also make him take that brace off. He's not injured, and now he's using it as a weapon.
-
That dirty hit was every bit as bad, if not worse, than anything Suh has done. And the result... The Bills get penalized! The coddling of that franchise by the NFL is sickening.
-
Perhaps the most frustrating thing about the game was how predictable it is/was. It literally is like groundhog day. We all know the refs are going to make some highly suspect calls that hurt the Bills. I'm sick of the league and media and everyone ball washing that team. They can play with a complete disregard for the rules because they know, more often than not, they're not going to get called on it. I would like to see the Bills go old school Raiders on them in foxboro. Take matters into your own hands, penalties and fines be damned. If they're going to leave Brady in a blowout game, after you start cheapshotting our players... You damn sure should cheap shot his head on the next play. I like Tyrod, but he seems to put up games like this far too often. Did anyone genuinely think we could come back once we were down by 2 touchdowns? It's been nearly 3 full years, and I don't think we've ever seen him elevate his play to rise above the crappy play calling and crappy refs. For all his good... It just isn't good enough. Whether we move on next week or next season, I'm not sure it matters. I want to like McD , but he's making a lot of bad decisions. Milano is just one of them. Dennison was a huge one. I'd like to see him correct his mistakes more. But, I'm hopeful he will. I guess we'll see. The Bills have improved in a lot of ways...unfortunately the results are so far the same. He's good... Just not good enough.

Yes because Brady took the field by himself and won all those games single handedly. I stand corrected. But for the record, I'm not saying he sucks... I was pointing out the fact that without Brady, Belichick still gets the team to winning records; indicating that he appears to be more important in their success then Brady. So, yes, Brady is a certain first ballot HOFer, but Belichick has proven he can win without Brady. The same cannot be said in reverse. Contrast that to a QB like Manning who proved he could win with multiple coaches and teams. Granted we can't say Brady couldn't do it, because he's never had the opportunity. I would suggest that its completely unknown how he would perform if you take away the team and coach he's played his entire career with.

I'm a life long fan of the Bills and I've seen more lousy football played by this team than I care to admit sometimes. I'll probably even being watching them get embarrassed again this Sunday. I'm not sure anything could make me not want to watch, read about, and whole heartedly pray for them to do well. But... If they're ever proven to be doing things like your team has been proven to have done - to directly cheat in a game; I would stop supporting them and certainly defending them. ...at least until an entire FO, coaching and roster turn over. When something is wrong, it's wrong. I don't try to rationalize and dismiss it to suite my interests. But, maybe that's just me and why I'm a nobody on a message board and not a millionaire doing all I can to get ahead.

Week 13: Patriots' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced
Dan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Problem watching this... At the end the Bills run the Tampa Cover 2 to take away the tightend running down the middle of the field. It worked against Alex Smith. But, if they play that defense against Gronk and Brady, its a touchdown all day. Dude was wide open and Brady will nail that throw. It's like taking candy from a baby for him. -
The ole... Everyone does it, not just us defense followed by the well it wasn't really cheating because you don't have someone with a signed affidavit saying, yes I cheated. Look I would love for your team to have not cheated to win games, it would make me feel better about the league that has done more to cover it up than to prevent it from happening again. But, the fact of the matter is simple... You can say everyone does it, you can say it was no big deal, but it was your team that did it and did it for years.. May even still be cheating for all we know.... And so all that greatness that you'll forever cherish carries with it a certain taint that you can rationalize, but we all know it's still there.
-
You can't go down that rabbit hole, because you know that they're the only team to actually be caught and penalized by the league for cheating.... Twice! Have the py had unparalleled success...yes. Have they been caught cheating in actual games...yes. Can any one say with any certainty how much advantage their cheating culture actually afforded them...no. They cheated, they won, the entire franchise, and league for allowing it, is tarnished because of it. The only reason the cheating scandals aren't metioned more is because the league controls the NFL Channel and the distribution rights of their games to the other networks that cover the league. In other words, they direct the narrative.

Don't tell me pressure doesnt work against Brady!!
Dan replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone that thinks you can play soft zone against this team and win has not paid attention for the last 2 decades. Brady absolutely shreds the soft zones. If I see Hughs running backward at the snap to cover some receiver in a zone, I will lose all faith in this coaching staff to ever have a clue. You absolutely have to pressure Brady, up the middle, in his face. Sure if you can do it with 4; that's awesome. But we all know our front 4 can't do that... They haven't all year. So we have to send timed blitzes frequently! Then you play the receivers in tight, man coverage, jamming them on the line. Because you absolutely have to disrupt the timing of the passing offense and try to take away the shallow, crossing, pick plays that they love. If you play zone, 5 yards off the ball, you're dead. There is no single way to beat this cheating team. But you have an immobile QB with a sore achilles, that loves shallow, crossing, pick plays. Stop that and you have a shot. Let him stand upright with no pressure, and we've all seen him pick apart every team that's ever tried it. On offense... Keep Tyrod mobile! I don't care if he runs on every pass attempt. But, if they think he can stand in the pocket and routinely read a BB defense, they're nuts. -
I genuinely don't understand this opinion. The current FO, not the previous one(s), gutted the roster of talent and brought in the the aging vets that aren't producing. Perhaps the only thing you could blame Whaley for is not finding the franchise QB. But even then, he brought in the best QB we've had since Bledsoe.

The most important decision to ending this drought is coming up.
Dan replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They do that with every position. This year, in particular, they have dumped more talent with little to nothing to replace it. It begs the question as to why they've deliberately gutted the roster the way they have? But, I agree with you, I hope they keep Tyrod and design an offense to play to his strengths. Draft 2, 3, 10 guys! Just draft someone to be the franchise. But, develop him and groom him to start in the NFL. In a few years time, he may be ready and Tyrod could guve us decent competitive football in the meantime. -
Funny how we changed coaching and offensive scheme and suddenly the entire offensive line that was integral in leading the league in rushing is garbage and needs to be replaced.
-
Quoted for truth. McBean fully owns the mess that this team is in. The team they inherited wasn't playing nearly as poorly, nor was it devoid of tallent until they cut/traded them all away.

[closed]Why the rush to Peterman this week......
Dan replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I genuinely hope everyone is right. I'll certainly be watching intently. My only ask... Let's not all fall apart when the kid struggles. If he does have it, it's going to take me than a game or 2. -

Dan replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I get that. And, as a Bills fan, I truly hope he can and does excel. I just don't get the euphoria around it. Maybe, I'm just too jaded, but I've seen far more rookie QBs fail than succeed. And given that we have almost no actual game footage to go on, I really don't understand the certainty that so many posters seem to have.
