  1. People dumping on Peterman for that interception, might as well blame him for the fumble and return for a touchdown. It's just stupid. I get it you all hate the guy. And once your minds are made up, god forbid you even consider an alternative. But he has played the game that is being called for him. The problem... in this game and on the season.. zero run game and crappy wide receivers.
  2. I think another key point to remember in all this is that they continued to shuffle the Oline and QBs, with no clear starters until after the preseason. There was no time for any chemistry or the offense to become established. They shuffled the WRs quite a bit as well. But with their injury status that's a little more understandable. But that is ..never.. a recipe for success in the NFL. Especially when you consider they had a new OC, it seems an even greater amount of hubris. It seemed obvious to me at the time, the most likely route to success was name your starters early and give them time to gel in a new offense. Not that it would be successful, but it was the best chance for success. That was start AJM as the only guy to have won an NFL game and had a few years prepping for NFL defenses. Peterman as his backup. And Allen watching, learning, and continuing to work on his footwork/mechanic/accuracy issues so that he doesn't revert to the flawed mechanics as soon as he's under pressure in a game. They all acted with a great amount of naivety or perhaps just plain cockiness. But they clearly underestimated, or just simply do not know, how hard it is to field a proper offense.
  3. I don't like the options. Of course I support him; if he starts for the Bills why wouldn't I? Do I hate him? No. Do I expect him to do well... of course not. LOL. But nothing would make me happier than to see him have a great game. Look good and over the next few weeks become a decent starting QB. It only helps the Bills with their backup QB. With trade options. With all things team related. I honestly don't think he ever will... but as long as he's starting for the Bills I'll always support him and hope he does well. So so I guess after all that. I should just vote supporter. Although, I wonder if that's what this poll is about.
  4. Sorry...I didn't mean to.
  5. I keep seeing this idea posted over and over. Yes we have no talent on Offense, but who's fault is that? It's entirely too convenient to say... We had to dump all the talent to free up cap space or get rid of bad attitude guys. The bottomline is, the current regime dumped all the talent - other than Shady - and have done next to nothing to replace that talent drain. So.. It's on them. And...precisely. That dumping of players has led to a historically bad offense. It's unimaginable to think they could be this bad. But they are. And what's really making alot of fans, including myself, question the FO and coaching staff is that not only are we not a competitive team, we're not even showing signs of improvement or potential improvement. The offensive side of the ball is a disgrace. And they 100% created this offense. So, it's not unfounded to question their competence.
  6. Can someone help me out? Is the game 8:15pm eastern time? I'm in Texas this week. And wanna know when to look for it.
  7. As others have said, we are now in year 2. This ..IS.. the team McDermott and Beane are building. They didn't inherit a mess; they created it. And I can not understand why anyone thinks they can magically make all the right moves and turn this team into a Superbowl contender with one off season, after what we've witnessed so far.
  8. If the Bills FO trades their ONLY offensive player that has any chance to make a defense game plan for, then they should just be truthful to the fanbase and openly admit that the the current goal in 2018 is not to win games. And anything less than a 1st for Shady, to a team as desperate as the Eagles, should not be considered.
  9. Excellent post. And sums up the key emotion to how I see the Bills. They are so much more than a football team. They represent the town my parents grew up in (i was born elsewhere). They represent my family, my roots. Most of my extended family still live in Buffalo, and when I cheer for the Bills, I'm cheering for them. My family, the City, and this team are entertwined. However, I disagree with your closing statement. I see no reason to be optimistic. McBeane have shown to be no better at building a team or developing a young QB than any past regime. In fact, I could argue they're sooooo much worse than many of them. But, perhaps they'll get lucky. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that the Bills are still here and still my team. I hope they win. I hope they get it right this time. But, I have no expectations that they will. And all indications are that they're gonna be preaching some new catch phrase in 2 years when the current process has failed to guarantee a baby. And yet we'll still be here... Go Bills!
  10. There's no doubt he is our future, and at times looks the part, but he is clearly raw and unprepared at this time to start in big games in the NFL. We can only hope this coaching staff is competent enough to develop game plans to negate some of this and develop his game properly. After the first 4 games, I honestly have my doubts they can do that.
  11. So... This year will complete the 2nd year of McBeane's tenure, and yet its going to take another 2 years to turn over the roster? So 4 years to get your guys on the roster and then what? Year 5 we get back to 9-7? Cap hell or not, this team is currenty a reflection of what Beane put on the field and thought would be competitive. At this point, they are not even close to competing with real NFL teams. I just don't understand why every team in the league can seem to put a competitive, professional football team on the field, but the Bills. I don't know if its the type of player the FO is targetting, or archaic coaching, but It's ridiculous to think it should take 4 years to build a competitive team.
  12. I think this is a point that has not received near enough attention, and reprsents McD's biggest flaw thus far as a coach. He wasted the entire off season with competitions and shuffling players around. Now the season has started and for 2 weeks the team has been unprepared, undisciplined, and out matched. IMO, the first 2 weeks we've seen are the result of completely inept coaching, far more than under talented players. Granted we need upgrades at a lot of positions, but we need caoches that aren't inept as well.
  13. I gotta agree. Personally, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Peterman looked good in the preseason.... maybe they know something I don't. But now.. Peterman has started 2 games and been historically bad in both. At the absolute least, you have to conclude that he is not ready to be a starter. I think we all know he shouldn't be a starter period, but how can they possibly even consider him playing again? Move on to Allen. And watch film... of real NFL teams to see how they play. Because they clearly wasted all summer.
  14. I wonder why every team in the league can field a professional looking football team, except Buffalo. They were disorganized, unprepared, slow, and every other bad word you can think of. It's not that we lost; it's not that 5pick Peterman isn't a good QB; it's that the entire organization from the top down was once again completely out classed. All the excuses in the world don't change the fact that this is the team the McD and Beane have chosen to field, and they looked completely inept in every facet of the game. It is inconceivable that they had all summer to prepare for this game... and that isnhe effort we witnessed. Just horrendous. We, as fans, don't deserve this kind of performance. So I wonder... when are we ever going to see a team that is worthy of our passion and love of the game?
  15. I completely agree with you. On every point. 5pick Peterman is perhaps the biggest question mark, is he the guy that played in LA or the guy that played in Preseason? Probably somewhere in the middle. The other irony is, He gets zero credit for looking good in preseason. But, Flaco and his new receivers are being talked up big...because of how good they looked in preseason. Again... This is why I think people are completely and totally underestimating the Bills. We may not win, but I just can't see how we're going to be the worst team to play tomorrow.
  16. I completely agree. Everyone, and it seems everyone, is saying this is an easy win for the Ravens against the worst team in the league. How did we go from a playoff team with promising coach and team to the worst team in the league over the offseason? The Ravens, on paper, should have more proven talent than the Bills. I get that. But week 1 is the biggest crapshoot week of the season! All those new players need time to learn the system and play together. Did anyone see the game on Thursday, neither of those teams looked in sync and came out of the gates on fire. I expect more of the same from our game. Will the Bills win? I'd be surprised. But to out right dismiss them and annoit the Ravens the team to beat, at this point in the year, is completely unfounded. The only reason I half expect a loss is because of the Ravens Defense. They should be able to containl our offense. How our defense fairs agaisnt their O is a much bigger question mark. This game comes down to coaching, in my opinion. Can McD and Daboll have them prepared, focused and a game plan developed to negate the Raven's D? We'll see.
  17. Yeah... I just expect the refs are gonna be horrendous. That's part of the game now bad calls and poor officiating. I wonder how much the bad play is due to all the limited practices and preseason play of late? Cauae surely these two teams are better than this?
  18. LOL yeah. It's hard to watch in most every way
  19. The first game of the season is always bad. But if 5pick Peterman plays like either of these two QBs, the calls to bench him will be deafening. Both offenses just seem completely out of sync. And Al and Chris need to retire. They've become the rambling old guys thatonlynhalf pay attention to the game. And, if anything, suck the life out of watching it. And yeah, that stupid green box is stupid. Why do we need that? It's distracting. Why do I watch nonBills games?
  20. Agreed... which is kinda my point a bit. They're not playing a consistent scheme. And the one yesterday sucked. But... I would expect they would do a little better than just throw Allen and the Line to the wolves and see how fast they get eaten. I'm not a coach, nor am I privy to the full process. But I'm concerned that this team is not prepared to start playing real games. Hopefully, I'm wrong. I want to be.
  21. One thing I noticed... in the first preseason game they had the RBs and TEs chip on almost every pass play to help the Oline out. And Peterman and the line looked a ton better. Yesterday... there was none of that. Its entirely possible that they wanted to evaluate Allen and the line in a different scheme to see how they performed. I have 2 primary concerns. We're in late August, 2 weeks away from the season opener and have zero consistency or cohesion on offense. There is no consistent starter at QB, oline, or WR. No consistent scheme seems to have emerged. Its concerning because how how many times have we seen all this preseason shuffling result in a good start to the season? Yeah... never. And secondly, how can McD and the coaches not have it all figured out by now? How many times have we seen the... its preseason, there going vanilla on purpose excuse? Its concerning to say the least. I wanna think they know what their doing. But I've seen enough football to know, at this point when your team looks abysmal in all facets of the game, the start of the season isn't looking good.
  22. His stat line from the 2017 preseason would appear to demonstrate that he has improved his performance this year. Player Team Pos Comp Att Pct Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TD Int 1st 1st% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck Rate Nathan Peterman BUF QB 43 79 54.4 19.8 453 5.7 113.2 1 0 20 25.3 28 4 0 4 75.6
  23. I'll preface my point of view by stating that for the first time in a couple ..decades... I feel confident that our coaching staff is going to make the right decision for the team, now and for the future. The dilemma here is that Peterman clearly has gotten mental aspect of the game down. By all accounts, he seems to have picked up the new offense and has performed well in camp. In games, he's really good at reading the defense and almost always makes the proper presnap read and subsequent throw. His problems are physical. He clearly lacks the elite arm you want in an NFL QB. And when the pocket collapses (or in many cases, never even arrives), he looks skittish and usually something bad happens. Josh, on the other hand, has all the physical tools you could ever dream of in a QB. But, mentally, he's going to make a lot of bad decisions when the real bullets start to fly. There's not a doubt in my mind, nor anyone with half a brain, that he is the future of this franchise. Period and done. The only quesiton at this point is ...when is that future? So, do we want the smart guy that's going to throw interceptions because he has a weak arm? Or the sexy beast of an arm that's going to throw interceptions because of poor his decisions? Prior to this game, I was confident that AJM was going to be the week 1 starter with Peterman as the backup. (AJM plays well and we trade him for a good draft pick after the season and move on) Now, I have no idea if AJM sees the field for the Bills again. I can see arguments for both guys, Allen and Peterman, starting. I will say this though. I really like the idea of Peterman as our long term backup. He's smart, prepares well, and seems like a good team player. I love the thought of Allen as the face of the franchise burning up the league for 15 years. But man, I hate starting rookie QBs, always have. But, do we have a real choice? More than anything, I guess I just hope the fans on this board and in the stadium, get behind and support whoever is on the field. Either player is going to have good and bad throws/decisions. And with our current Oline and WR situation, it's a likely to start off more bad than good for both of them. Peterman is not all bad. Allen is not guaranteed to be a savior. They both need our support and prayers for a healthy season (cause we're likely to see both play one way or another).
  24. Is it me or do we not really know much more about the roster than we did at the start of camp?
