Week 14 SNF: Bills Whoop Steelers PostGame Thread
Dan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Kyle on the GMFB show kinda hit the nail on the head with this game. The problem with the Bills... for several decades!... has been a trust issue. We all want them to do well. We want them to show up in big games. We want them to win. But they always let us down and came up short. So you just couldn’t trust them. And that lack of trust is the very core of BBFS. It’s why so many of us can’t sit easily with a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter. Because we’ve had our hearts broken so many times, in so many ways over the years. We can’t trust that the team will actually do what it takes to win. Last night, above all else, the Bills as a team and an organization said... you can trust us. We got this. On a national stage, they faced the #1 defense in the league and a team desperate to get back on the winning track and get the #1 seed. The Steelers came out playing hard, physical, impassioned! They threw everything at Josh. And I mean every thing! And yet, the Bills matched that hard-nosed play, hung in there and took control of the game. They didn’t let us down. They didn’t let a great opportunity slip by. They took care of business and proved to the NFL that they’ve arrived. We won’t win every game. We won’t be perfect. But, we can trust that this team is going to show up and play hard. And based on a record of 10 and 3, more often than not, they will prevail! It was a great game for a lot of reasons. The best may just be that they didn’t wither. They didn’t crack. They made adjustments, played tough. They won a game that most people thought they’d lose. Not because they’re the worse team, but because they couldn’t be trusted. Now, you have to look at the Bills on their talent and their merits of play and not think.. I’m just not sure they’ll show up. Those days are over! It’s a great time to be a Bills fan, indeed!! We all deserve this and should relish it! Go Bills!! -
Week 14 SNF: Bills Whoop Steelers PostGame Thread

All I can say is ...wow! The Bills as a team have arrived. Prime time wins, beat teams with winning records, over come adversity, Josh staying cool and leading the team. Everyone on this team, coaches and staff included, showed up! There’s a lot more football to be played this season. But let’s enjoy the fact that the Bills are a legit, no bull#### contender. It feels good! I’m goin to bed drunk and feeling good! Go Bills! -
A Few Thoughts about the 49ers Game, in no particular order
Dan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was perhaps my biggest concern in thinking about the game yesterday morning. The 49’ers had to be in a “must win” mentality. So you figure, you’re going to get their best. They were going to be fired up and play hard to keep their hopes alive for the division. And the Bills just matched that intensity and beat it down! That was good to see. It’s been a long time! For so many years, we’d go into these kind of games and the team would just come out flat. Not this team. Not any more. One play not talked about a lot... the 4th down in the 4th quarter. I’m thinking kick the FG, extend the lead. They went for it! Converted and 2 plays later iced the game. For me, that was the play of the game. It took balls and it was executed perfectly. And it crushed SF’s hopes for a come back. There would be no Hail Mary this week! -
Miss is still the same back he was... he’s a rookie on the Monday Night stage, and made a mistake. It happens. There’s zero reason to think he’s not gonna be in the game plan going forward. (unless he hurt his knee more than we know)
-
I must admit ..I missed that drive. Expected the Bills of old and assumed they were running for the locker room. Got up to use the bathroom, walked back in the living room to see them lining up for a FG. WTF! They simply excelled in every aspect of this game. This was them on day night game we have been wishing for! And I’m savoring every wonderful moment ...still.

Week 13 Bills @ 49ers in Phoenix PreGame Thread

The one thing I’m certain of... if the Bills have 10pt lead in the 3rd quarter, the flags against us will start flying fast and furious. -
Week 13 Bills @ 49ers in Phoenix PreGame Thread

I’m always nervous before every Bills game. I just can’t help it. Add in knowing that both Miami and the pats won yesterday, and it’s a Monday night game; now I’m ready for some drinks just to get through the day! Go Bills! -
AJ Klein named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Dan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. Congratulations to Klein. It’s good for him and the team. However, Bosa was looked all world on Sunday. -
That is ..every.. team’s ultimate goal. But to say that every season that doesn’t end in a Super Bowl win is not a successful year... just creates an unrealistic and unattainable goal. The Bills have not won the division in 25 years. If we manage to hold on and win the division, have a better record, and win a playoff game for the first time in a generation.. how can you call that anything but a successful year? Unless you’re just here to throw a wet blanket on every conversation and try to get people riled up?

Week 13: Bills at 49ers on MNF (in Arizona)
Dan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed beating Pittsburgh, Miami, and the Patsies is far better for our seeding and winning the division. So a loss against the 49rs isn’t the end of the world. However, PIT and MIA may be the two toughest games we have to play. So it would be really nice to continue to build a cushion with a weaker SF team. So a loss in a week or two wouldn’t hurt as bad. So in some sense this week is a must win! LOL .... I don’t think we can call it a statement game. But surely if we don’t dominate them, then it must mean something. But back on point, this week we could lose and still be ok. But, a win would be setting us up really well to maintain the division lead. -
Week 12 Post Game thread Bills vs Chargers
Dan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good to know... I wasn’t sure about the bad snap. But figured the missed protection was perhaps on Barkley for not calling the right blitz pickup or something. Interesting to see Morse take the blame for 2 key missteps. -
Week 12 Post Game thread Bills vs Chargers
Dan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can we talk about that for a minute? How horrible is that, Barkley comes in for one play it’s the one time they don’t even attempt to block Bosa and give him a clean hit on Barkley. Does the right guard just not like him? lol -
I think “newer” fans have all grown up I no the fantasy football era. And as such, they look at point totals, stats, and such as an indicator of being good. 300 yd passer..is good. 150yd passer is bad. Doesn’t matter that the team wins or loses. So yeah they won, but where’s all the amazing stats to show they dominated? Because you can’t just win you have to dominate and every other hyperbole you can think of. I think the league has some doing in all the come backs and so many of the close games. I don’t want to get too conspiratorial, but it seems we always get rash of ..really.. bad calls to tighten the game up and make it a lot closer on the score board than it really was. Yesterday was no exception. It’s almost as if the Refs decided they needed to get it to a one score game and made sure the Bills didn’t run away with it. The notion that you have to beat the Refs and the other team is as true now as it has ever been. 8-3 is feeling pretty sweet!

Jerry Hughes Do U Bring Him Back or Let Him Walk ?
Dan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ll respectfully disagree. Yes, the level of competition is a lot tougher this season, but the glaring problem on this team, other than injuries, has been the line play. Even if we say the level of play is a wash, they’ve lost leadership and perhaps even some chemistry that it’s taking time to regain. Back to the OP’s question, I wouldn’t make that same mistake again. -
Jerry Hughes Do U Bring Him Back or Let Him Walk ?
Dan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would bring him back without hesitation. Perhaps the biggest problem with the team this season is the miscalculations they’ve made on both the lines. They let Phillips and Shaq walk and the replacements haven’t performed even close to their level. Similarly the on the offensive line, they’ve let Spain walk and then benched Morse and the run game has tanked. Both our lines have taken a step backwards. No way I would let a consistent player like Hughes leave. He’s not the best DE in the league but he’s good. -
I would have that video playing on a loop in the locker room. Sure the Bills may lose Sunday. But, those takes are completely horrendous and disrespectful to a team that is 7-2 and beaten the teams they have, the way they have. I don’t think the Bills ..have.. to win the game this weekend. But imagine if they do, and all these guys heads exploding. Just imagine going into the bye at 8-2 having beaten the Patsies, the Seahawks and the Cards in the 3 previous weeks. Man I can’t wait for Sunday!!

Gary Gramling (si.com) Josh Allen Quote
Dan replied to BillsIsrael's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I think I like most about Allen... is no down and distance seem too far. 3rd and 5 used to make me say just bring out the punter already. With Allen, 3rd and 5 can become 3rd and 10 after a false start; then 3rd and 20 after a hold. No problem.. he can convert this; I say to myself. That is a truly good feeling. -
I felt good after we got the onside kick. Didn’t really relax till we got the first down and I saw the victory formation. BTW... hugely underrated play by Josh and seemingly overlooked due to all the other crazy good plays. ..3rd and 6 and almost certainly giving the ball back became an easy 3rd and 1 after a good hard count and jump Offside. Run the ball, 1st down, game over.
-
If anyone is under the radar... it’s the Steelers. I see more talk about KC and TN ..and the Steelers are still undefeated. But maybe I don’t know.. I’ve stopped watching all the pregame shows.
-
Living in Rhode Island. Had just gotten married that spring and starting my doctoral program at URI. In those pre-internet days, I followed the Bills with my Shout! subscription and long distance calls to my family on Sunday. So much has changed since then..now I group text with the family on Sundays.
-
I started the day thinkin no way the Bills win. I just figured our defense couldn’t keep up with their offense. I was.. soooo wrong! And Josh Allen. Oh my. If anyone has any doubts, they’re just idiots. I definitely have BBFS though. LOL I can’t sit easily until they have at least a 3 score lead even though they dominated the game all afternoon. What a great game! And a Great Win!!
-
Interesting notion. BBFS is definitely a strange phenomenon.
-
So wait... you’d feel better about the team and this season ..today.. if the Bills had LOST to the Patsies 38-35? The 24-21 win means gives you less confidence in this team!?
-
This is a trick question... Its a well known fact that any team the Bills beat is garbage. Because, well, how could the Bills beat a good team? So, you can't get a signature win if you only beat bad teams.
