Read any comment from Jauron - the Bills head coach, by the way. There is no controversy. Jauron has stated repeatedly that he's sticking with JP. He's stated he had no thoughts of pulling him last week against the Packers. He's said over and over they need to be forcefully patient with JP. He's even gone so far as to say he thinks JP will be a good QB in this league. In addition, several players (most notably Lee Evans) have said on several occasions this year that they think JP gives the Bills the best chance and they're behind him. So, regardless of what any fan says or any Bills beat reporter says, there is no QB controversy in Buffalo. JP is our starter and will remain our starter for the foreseeable future. I'd strongly suggest that if any one wants to see another qb play, they should just watch a different team.

Good point. Let's trade for Brady and we're in good shape. Get er done Marv.

I was just kidding around with my post. I agree, I give us zero chance to win this game and a marginal chance to lose by 14-20 points; more likely its a 3 touchdown loss. However, I very much hope for us to win and will be cheering mightily for a miracle. But reality is what it is.

And then they'll rest in the 2nd half, allowing us to score and make the game appear much closer! No way we're blown out.

The Bills o-line doesn't give J-Lo enough time?
Dan replied to CoachChuckDickerson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. And look how much worse the Raiders look. They had as many sacks in the 1st quarter as J Lo had all day yesterday. -
I like the way you think... and your perserverence at getting facts.

It's refreshing to see that I'm not the only one that some some positives yesterday. Honestly, anyone that thought our offense was going to be on fire a week after completely overhauling the offensive line... well I don't know what to say. Also, someone posted in another thread, we had a 10 point lead through much of the game. A point I hadn't considered. That could certainly explain the overly conservative approach much of the game. Hopefully, the Bills can look good against the Colts, but reality often bites. Let's all just hope for more improvement.

Age of TBD Poster who is for or against JP
Dan replied to diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
38. let him play for at least another full year. -
Look, I'm not saying the Bills played a great! game and deserve our unconditional praise. All I'm saying is that there were good plays made by Buffalo players (even JP). Yet no one wants to give credit for that. If some ESPN writer pens a piece talking about how bad Favre played and how he gave the game away. Wouldn't you be upset that he didn't even mention any of the good plays our defenders made? I would. And it especially upsets me when fans of this team don't acknowledge any of the good play.
-
Yes we lost it because the Jets beat us. I know its a shock, but the Jets are playing better than us.
-
Perhaps Favre was changing the play because he saw the defense, the center didn't hear and snapped the ball early? Nope you're right. I'm sorry. I'll stop arguing. Favre gave us the win because he saw how bad we were and felt sorry for us. I can't wait till we cut everyone next year. Think of the draft picks we can get, if Marv wakes up long enough to actually trade a few rather than just releasing them all. Go Bills in the draft!

I heard the crowd yelling just before he threw those passes. That's how I knew they'd be dropped - its a distinctly different noise from an oncoming blindside sack. If only JP could start listening to the crowd noise. I bet every other qb ever in the history of history could have caught those 2 passes. JP sucks.
-
I gotta say this is all just priceless. First, Favre lost the game?! Does anyone give our Defense credit for creating any of those turnovers or pressures? Or were they just out there walking around waiting for Favre, the almighty, to make a mistake? I swear, its like our defense didn't do anything. The only reason the Pack didn't score was because the Pack made mistakes. Sickening. That's what that is. I expect that kind of drivel from the national media, but not from supposed Bills fans. Did any of you idiots bother to consider the fact that maybe our defense just played a good game for once? Second, JP badly under throws Evans on those 2 plays?! Friggin insane! How often do you see QBs throw the ball short and the reciever has to stop, adjust and catch the ball. I'm not sure they're all designed that way; but I'd venture a guess that almost once every game by every team in the league a pass is thrown short and the receiver stops and gets the ball (or he stops and the DB runs into him and gets pass interference). JP does this and OMG he sucks; he can't hit Evans in stride! The ball hit Evans on the damn hands! He should catch it period. That miss is completely, 100% on Evans. End of discussion. On the touchdown pass, did any one else notice the guy rushing right up the middle, hitting JP as he throws the ball?!? He couldn't step into the throw at all. I was surprised he got the ball off at all. But, he did and actually hit a wide open Evans who walks in for the touchdown. Yet, who cares, because the pass wasn't pretty. Nevermind JP got laid on his ass immediately after the throw. And this pass, is after a penalty. 8 minutes left in the game. The Pack has all the momentum, just scoring 10 points to tie the game. We desparately needed a play, just 1 play - and we got it. But, yet we all still want "the ball in the endzone". News flash, it was a touchdown. We all still want JP to lead a game winning drive in the 4th quarter. Newsflash, that's what he did. We all want the team to play a full 60 minutes. Newsflash, they did - scoring 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter to win the game. When was the last time, we got the ball and kneeled down to end the game? I'm sorry, it's not that JP or anyone on the defense did anything good; rather the Packers let us win out of their kind generosity. Do we need to improve? Absolutely! Do we need a new fanbase? Absolutely. Because I've never seen so many idiots complaining when they're seeing (1) exactly what they wanted to see and (2) what we all knew we were going to see back in August. The greatest joy I'll get from the rest of this season is seeing all the idiots here blow a gasket watching JP play, because guess what? JP's not going anywhere. Listen to Jauron, JP is here for the time being. So, you might as well suck it up for the long haul because it's going to get worse before it gets better. Ridiculous, it is.

That's what I was thinking, but just wasn't sure.

Are these offenses THIS good or are these defenses THAt bad?

Interesting patterns/topics to emerge from this...

In Fanatasy Land. The reality of wins and loses doesn't matter. It's all about what happens in my own little made up world. -
Again, I agree with much of what you say. It seems JP has alot going against him and not the least of which is the coaching. They're telling him not to run and stay in the pocket. Then the pocket collapses and he gets sacked. They call plays that are questionable, at best. Add that to the piss poor line and receivers not doing their part and you've got a recipe for sucky play. Where we differ is I say leave JP in, period. The only way I say pull him for Nall is if we have a game where everything is clicking and JP is clearly not doing anything. I haven't seen that yet. Every game there's plenty of bad, but there's also a little good - by the entire offense. I'm not sure of the fix, but it would be nice to see an offense show some sort of consistency.
-
... and he was going against one of the better pass rushers this season. It was a huge test for a rookie. I'd say he has a long way to go, but it wasn't a total wash.
-
I do agree with so much of your post. I just think it's funny how some people give JP zero credit for anything. He's definitely experiencing growing pains and we can argue for ever about whether his growing pains are better, worse, the same as other QBs. However, I think any reasonable person can say a few things: JP is young and inexperienced; he doesn't see the field like a 5 year vet; he's going to struggle learning a new offense with young players and a questionable line. So, when he struggles we should accept it rather than continually look for another rookie with no experience that might do better on 1 or 2 plays. Most people want to see JP progress. I would argue that his play today showed some flashes of progression. He didn't turn the ball over. He did make a play when he absolutely had to. He moved in the pocket to avoid a hit on more than one play. He hit a few guys on nice plays (but they dropped them). He hit Shelton(?) on the pass out of the backfield in stride. So, he did di some good things, that he's struggled with in the past. He did have troubles. I agree. But, given the offensive line shake up and his inexperience, I'd say that was to be expected. He does need to progress. But, let's give him credit where credit is due. He's done some things that look like a real NFL QB, a fact that some here refuse to acknowledge.
-
Yep that sums it up. The only thing JP can do that will make many of these idiots happy is sell his house and leave town. Then they'll get another QB to rag on and call out for not catching his own passes after he blocks the blitzing db.
-
The most important thing today was JP and the offense came through when they had to. How many times had they had the game and only had to get a first down and couldn't. Or needed a score to seal the game and couldn't. Today the game was tied, the Packers had the momentum and we needed something. That's exactly when JP through the TD pass. That's what we've been missing. Similarly, on the defensive side: how many games have they done exactly what they did today; only to give up that game tieing score. Rather today they got the interception and long return. The most surprising thing today.... they did what they had to.. WHEN they had to. That fact should not be understated.

Official Buffalo Bills VS Green Bay Packers thread

I was screaming for a penalty there. Why wasn't there one? -
I'd say they passed, but not by much. Still alot of sacks and pressures and very few passing lanes. But, I agree; no blindside hits and 100yds rushing are definitely positives. All in all, I'd say the experiment is working after one week.

I'm not sure most people said he was terrible, just that he didn't deserve the huge paycheck he wanted. I was one of those. However, if they keep him moving and he plays like this for the rest of the season, I'll completely change my mind. He had a great game and was definitely one of the key reasons we won the game. Although, on the negative, he did give a big cushion an awful lot. -
You play during the season to win; not to get a draft pick. It's so tiring to hear people complaining when we win, because now we won't get a good draft spot.
