  1. (I can't say the p word for fear of jinxing us). Of course, the Bills need to win out; therefore, each game is equally important. However, which of our remaining games is the toughest? A week ago, I would have said the Jets because it was a divisional game on the road. But, we handled them pretty well. So, now I'm thinking about this once again. I don't really think about the Ravens yet, because I figure that's just too far away and by the time we get to that game it may not even matter. Even if we win out, a few other teams may not lose; hence, the game is no biggie. So, if you take that game out, which is gonna be harder to win... the Dolphins or the Titans? The Dolphins are not the same team we slammed in Sept. They're playing much, much better and they're a divisional game (always makes it tougher). The article on their pass ruch has be worried this week for JP. The weather is gonna be great which sucks. On the other hand, the Titans are just winning despite all logic right now. Whether Young becomes great or not, he's playing great right now. Can we contain him and the magical preformances he's stringing together? So, to get some discussion back to the games being played, which of the next 2 games is going to be a tougher win? I'm thinking the Dolphins based on their pass rush and the familiarity of the 2 teams.
  2. Me either. I was screaming for Reed to hit the Ref with his helmet. Or at least take him out of the game with a shot to the knee on the next play.
  3. The Redskins prove your point true every year.
  4. Yeah, I know I was strectching for literary effect. But, Vick is pretty talented, so I was hoping I wouldn't get called on it.
  5. This is exactly why we live in the PC, never say anything about anything in any way world that we live in and why interviews have become perhaps the most useless waste of time in the modern era of sports. Newsflash, if the Falcons miss the playoffs, it'll have absolutely nothing to do with these comments. They're not a very good team and tonight they're playing a good team. The Flacons have played some pretty sloppy ball thus far and have a "great" QB that somehow seems to not make his team great. I might fire him, but it's be more because the Falcons seem to have mastered the art of underwhelming with overwhelming talent.
  6. According to mine, it's Channel 712 - Live 1pm ET. (Although my sister, in NM, emailed me last night about the same thing.) My guess is the time changes messed with the programming guides a little, but it'll be on at 1.
  7. I agree. For the last 2 weeks, you could hardly tell we were playing a game on Sunday just by reading this board. Seems odd.
  8. We should move to the NFC west. We'd be playoff contenders right now.
  9. If you listened carefully at the release of this news, that sound you heard was a single tear hitting the keyboard as Deluca sits in silent disbelief.
  10. It's late, been a long day, and I'm tired. But this thread is such a great read, I had to get updated on it. I have to ask though.... how do we have 203.3 passing yds/game, yet JP is averaging 212.5 yds/game? What am I missing? Again, it's late, been a long day and I'm tired; so don't think me bad for not seeing it. By the way, I think this post along with Lori's should pretty much end the argument if that's what this ever was. From here on out, its just comedy. (actually it was comedy on about page 3, but it's just become theatre of the absurd by page 7. I love it.)
  11. I seem to recall an article a week or so ago that discussed our Free Agents. According to that article, Buffalo was one of the busiest teams last winter in signing FAs and Buffalo spending was among the most in the league for FAs. So, how does that equate to Ralph being cheap? Also, wasn't there a thread about the AFC championship rings that mentioned cheap ole Ralph stepping up and buying the entire front office a ring. Again, this doesn't sound like such the cheap scate many make him out to be. It seems like all the arguements about the cheap Ralphie and not spending money, just don't wash when you look it. If anything, I guess you could say Ralph spends carefully. Please now its been discussed to death and well documented that spending big time on every FA (ala the Redskins) does not gaurantee a Superbowl appearance. So, why are we all so upset that Ralph doesn't spend like Snyder?
  12. Isn't Chicago killing the Rams? Seems like the Bears D could be playing easy with a big lead.
  13. Willis gets grief regardless of what he does. People just don't like him, period. Try to dress it up in stats or comments he makes in the media or how ever you want, but at the end of the day they just don't like the guy.
  14. Not to mention, its decidedly more difficult to convert 3rd downs when you're routinely in 3rd and long situations, i.e. known passing situations. Add to that a predictable formation that completely tips your hand that everyone knew you had to begin with. Throw in the personnel discrepancies detailed above and suddenly 3rd down conversions become more of a wish than a reality
  15. Friggin incredible. Given that he stole your post, I think it only fitting to reply to his post that was really your post by stealing his post which is now my post and see if he defends my post, his previous post, with a stolen post from your which of course means its now his post. (just popped in my head, if he's stealing your posts, does that mean he idolizes you?) So now I respond to the original post which is not really original with: Not really, except for INTs. This one is a little closer but INTs are about 50% off. Try again. This one is a little better. Of course, you picked at random the number of games to project the season over--different in every case: 4 games in 2003, 3 in 2004, and 5 in 2005. Further, it's hardly a shock that how someone plays in their first 4 (or so) games actually projects to how they might play over 16 games. What's the impressive study here? So here you use a 2 game sample to project a 15 game season? The Chargers have scored 67 points in 2 games. They are going to score almost 500 points this season. Ryan Denney is on pace for 32 sacks and the NFL sack record. Losman won't throw an INT this season. See how silly this is. Take that sucka. (That sucka part was my own thought, not to be confused with a thought that I thought was my thought.)
  16. Actually, I wouldn't call Romo an anomally at all. He's been with Dallas, on the bench, developing for several years. Traditionally speaking, that's what most coaches I think would want. I didn't think Shannahan would pull Plummer either. But thene he did. I also agree that they may not win the Superbowl with Plummer, but I still say he gives them the best shot until Cutler develops. Another year on the bench and he'd probably start just like Romo has. But now, I see him looking like all rookie QBs look; and of course, it won't be long before everyone starts wondering out loud if he's a bust. When that happens it becomes a crap shoot.
  17. I'd agree; it's probably not too meaningful given the number of attempts. I'd equate it to the Tackle that has 2 receptions both for touchdowns. Is he a great receiver in the endzone? No one would say that. However, it is definitely good to see some positive numbers and further points to the potential that JP has.
  18. Excellent post. You, my good sir, are absolutely 100% correct. This should be pinned for all to see and referred to often.
  19. I'd suggest that has more to do with the play calling and coaching philosophy than it does JP's play.
  20. I would argue that what we saw there were the flashes of good QB play that we all wanted to see. It doesn't mean that JP is destined to be great, but it does show that he has potential. I would argue that what we saw there were the bad plays of young QB, that we can expect from time to time. I;d even argue that even the most gifted and seasoned QB's sometime have bad quarters or even whole games. It doens't mean they suck, it just means that had a bad day. It happens to every QB that has ever played. Like before, I don't think it means JP is gonna suck; it just shows that he's going to have ups and downs like every other QB. I would also argue that it looked to me that the cold weather was affecting JP. We all wanted cold and snow to make it harder on SD. What we may have seen was, in part, due to a former CA boy playing a little rough in one some of his first cold weather action. In the end, I think we have to look at JPs play as a whole and ask ourselves (actually, I assume the coaches will do this): Are JP's good plays/days outweighing his bad plays/days? Has he shown progression over the course of the season? And ultimately, has he shown enough ability to be considered the starter next season? In my opinion, he has and should be the starter. However, I suspect many here (and perhaps for the coaches as well) the jury is still out and they'll wait until the season is over to answer those questions. And that's ok, too; I can live with it (as long as the ultimate decision of the coaches agrees with my personal assesment).
  21. I believe Jake was about 39(W) and 15(L) before being benched and had the Broncos in the playoffs the last 2 (or 3) years. Yeah, he sucks! I'd hate for JP to have numbers like that. The problem is people always want the next best thing and often overlook what they have, and eventually Shanahan got sucked into it. Cutler may be good one day; but to think the Broncos will be in the playoffs this year or even next is overly optimistic.
  22. I gotta say I like these guys announcing. They're not flashy; they're just talking about the game and the players in it. That's all I want. It seems like there's a trend to make the announcer's bigger than the game and have them constantly ramble on about any useless crap they can spill out, complete with stupid jokes and celebrity appearances. I actually appreciate 2 guys just talking about the game that's being played. They aren't the center of the broadcast and shouldn't be.
  23. One of the things that bothers me about FF is the attention it draws to the individual player and away from the team. When people are happy because a receiver or runiing back had a good/great statistical day but his team loses, that seems backwards to me. And then that mentalitly trickles into all the highlight/pregame/postgame shows. I guess I just never really got into it nor really understand it, because I could never see myself cheering for a Patriots QB or a Steeler back because he's on my Fantasy team. Maybe I'm just oo much of a Bills homer. Because although I watch all the football and enjoy the games, I only cheer for the Bills and Bills players to win.
  24. This place is so much more entertaining when DeLuca posts. It always makes me feel so much smarter.
  25. For some reason, I've never gotten into it.
