Not saying any of this is true, but... saw a report last night that said she had her staffers shopping for her. Much of it on their personal credit cards which they were then to be reimbursed for. IMO, this is all blown way out of proportion. McCain lost. His campaign was less than ideal. People are looking to save their ass. They need a scapegoat for all the problems of the campaign. For whatever reason (maybe some of it's based on fact) they picked Palin. Now they pour it on and try to save jobs for themselves.

Bills DE Schobel has foot placed in cast
Dan replied to ___JT___'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's Nov. 6. Unless my calculator and calendar are broken, 4 weeks is Dec. 6. That would be prior to the Denver or NE* game. Either way, even if he doesn't come back until the NE* game, does it matter? If that's a game we have to win to make the playoffs, wouldn't it be better to have Schobel playing? -

Or early December. Wouldn't it be nice to have one of our better pass rushers and run stoppers available if we're making a playoff push? -
That point might have validity if you or anyone would concede that Clinton effectively fought the war against terror for the remaining 7 years of his presidency, as jkx2 alluded to. So, do you acknowledge that Clinton did a great job by preventing further terrorist attacks?

And the knives are Out!
Dan replied to YellowLinesandArmadillos's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I find it hard sometimes to not feel a little sorry for Mrs. Palin. She struck me as someone plucked from obscurity because she fit a specific profile or image the party wanted. They expected her to fall in line and perform on command. Eventually when it was determined that she was incapable or unwilling to comply; the party seemed to turn on her, marginalize her, and now ship her back to Alaskan obscurity. It will be really interesting to see what else comes out and what else she may or may not do. Historically and politically its all quite fascinating. -

I deal with the media quite often. Most people don't want to, whether it be fear of talking in public or saying something that they twist and misquote. My advice is always the same: The news stations are going to put something on TV every day and night - they have to. If you talk to them, you have some control over the content. If you don't, they're gonna put up whatever they can scramble to make up. So would you rather have your message out there or someone else's? Other than picking a candidate that had little to no knowledge of national or international issues, this was McCain's biggest problem, IMO. By refusing to let her interview, the news stations had to make up their own stories and that's exactly what they did. How the RNC thought they could nominate a woman for VP (historical in its own right) and not have her give a million interviews is beyond me. Huge mistake by McCain. -
What's this cable thing you speak of?

Just voted in Mississippi... talk about a vote not counting. It took us about 10minutes. They had pretty snazzy electronic machines; you put in a card, then it walked you through the voted, then printed your ballot after it was cast. Much fancier than I would have thought.

Something being lost in the shuffle with the offense...
Dan replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could you please stop being rational? We're supposed to be firing people, switching team allegiances, rioting in the streets kinda stuff. It kinda ruins all that when you clearly demonstrate our offense and defense aren't the worst in the league. -
Marshawn Lynch looking for the homerun on every run play
Dan replied to Lynch4mvp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree with what you're saying. I've thought since last season that Lynch dances a little too much, as opposed to just hitting the hole with a head of steam. However, I think we have to all remember that as good as Lynch has been... he's only in his 2nd season. Yes, I know some players come right out and lead the league from day one, but certainly that's an exception and not the norm. Much like Trent, we have some very young players that are just now beginning to learn what they can become. They make mistakes. They sometime fail. But, more importantly they have the heart, desire, and temperament to grow and succeed. It's going to be really fun when the game begins to slow down for these guys. -
I'm fairly certain you didn't cheer him up much. Hell, even myself, who's reasonably optimistic, just went to check my gun for bullets.

I looked at that spot as well under the frame by frame. And, unless there was another camera angle, I couldn't tell where the ball was. Wonderful CBS is absolutely lousy with their replays. I'm sure there were other angles, but they didn't show them on my TV. So, based on my limited view; I don't think they would have changed the spot. Although I do agree, at that point a challenge isn't a bad idea at all. I'm just not sure it would have worked.

That's what I was thinking on 4th down. Spread the field with a bunch of WRs and then have Trent sneak it - just don't hold the ball out there.
-
Yeah, I thought that too. But, no, he dropped back and pretty much stood there. Looked like he wanted to go to Evans, but he was double covered in the end zone. My guess... Evans couldn't shake the double coverage, so Trent just threw it away. At the end of the play, I saw 2 WRs in the endzone and 4 DBs - all in the right half of the endzone. That's why I say poor play design, or route running.
-
I got it recorded. About when in the game was that? I'll check and see what was up. edit: Nevermind. I just got it. OK. on the play in question. Trent had all day! Beautiful pocket. He dropped back, stood there with no one near him for several seconds. Moved very little (didn't have to) and did not approach the LOS at all. Ended up throwing the ball away while he was still about 7 yards behind the LOS. He could have ran, but there's no guarantee at all he would have made it. The big problem seemed to be that all the WRs and coverage went to the right side of the field. That had to be a miscue right? He had absolutely no options on the left side of the field. They essentially made the Jets defend half the field. A dump off receiver would have been nice on that play. Bad play call, if you ask me.
-
Yep. Life sucks! But would we have it any other way?
-
ok. Maybe I was wrong. I just can't fathom why we rushed so poorly yesterday. The only plausible explanation then would be that Lynch was sick and just not playing up to par.

Great opinions, even if they are meaningless. In reference to the Offensive line, I suggested this in another thread; is it possible Fowler isn't as bad as we all thought - Butler as well for that matter? The run game seems to have completely tanked with their absence the last 2 weeks. I hate to say it, but I'm hoping they start next week. Schobel is definitely missed. Plain and simple. If not for is QB pressures, then certainly for his play against the run. The same can be said of Youboty and his tackling. Next week has suddenly become a mid season "must win" game. I agree. We lose that and we're effectively 2 games down in the division. Beat the Pats* and we're still on the top; tenuously on the top, but still hangin' on none the less.
-
Somehow average players always seem to have all pro, career games against us (cough Ginn). God I hope Cassell doesn't throw for 500 yards with 4 TDs.
-
Interestingly... the last 2 weeks Butler and Fowler have been out. The last 2 weeks our run game has been abysmal. Is it possible that Butler and Fowler are better than we think they are?

On 4th and 1, I was screaming spread the field with 5 WRs and let Trent sneak it. We can't run the ball at all when they stack the line and we try to out muscle them.
