  1. When was the last time we truly saw the Bills, as a team, fired up? I don't know what Jauron's pregame speeches are like, but I imagine they all end with a sedative dropped in the Gatorade. It never ceases to amaze me just how flat this team looks in big games.
  2. It's quite interesting that those numbers are so similar, for the most part. So the next logical question is... was JP really almost as good as Trent or is Trent just as bad as JP was? After that, I'd think to ask... could it be that in neither case the young QB was the problem with the team?
  3. I completely agree with you. However, the OP suggested they take "one dollar less than the average compensation of the US auto workers in companies not receiving a bailout". I was simply pointing out that they've upped that idea.
  4. Actually I think the big 3 CEOs said that if they got the bailout cash, they'd cut their pay to $1/yr. Not sure of of the details, just caught it quickly earlier today/.
  5. Excellent post. Although, the point regarding the falsifiability of global warming really refers more to the political and funding mechanisms that influence most all scientific research, as you mention in several other posts. But that, in general, is a problem with all scientific investigation. Most granting agencies only want to fund research that gives known results that the granting agency supports. But that's neither here nor there, I suppose. Good post. I completely agree. It's kinda funny to think of some of the doom and gloom of the past that has and hasn't panned out. However, I think you must consider that some of these examples, CFCs and acid rain for example, may have been mitigated through our actions. We certainly use less CFCs than we used to, and legislation that required plants to clean their emissions surely had some effect on acid rain. I'm not trying to say that all the problems were there or that humans have completely "fixed" some of these environmental problems. However, I would argue that clearly we took steps to lessen the effects of CFCs (for ex.) and those steps had an impact, perhaps were even beneficial. Back to the topic at hand, I find it interesting that we have trouble predicting whether or not it will rain next week yet we think we can predict the global climate 100 years from now. It's always prudent to keep in mind the limitations of computer models and our limited knowledge of the inputs into those models. Nonlinear, chaotic systems are not readily predictable by their nature. From my understanding, there seems to be a fair bit of evidence that the global climate, in general, is warming and warming at a rate not typically observed in other warming periods. Is it driven by human kind? Perhaps that's the least important question. What are the potential effects? Can we do anything to keep the world as we currently know it? Should we even try? Is there a tipping point that we're heading towards that will inevitably lead to an alternate stable attractor that's vastly and catastrophically different from the world we currently live in? Do we hit that tipping point in 2012? Those are perhaps more important discussion points (well maybe not the last one, we all know that's when it happens).
  6. With each passing week, this fact seemingly becomes more and more apparent. I still contend that the Pats*, Jets and Fins aren't as good as their record indicates. However, each of them appear to have coaching staffs that have been able to capitalize on the weak schedules we've all been playing this season. The Bills coaches, quite simply, have not.
  7. Yes. If the team leaves after his death; his legacy is ruined. However, if he sells and the team leaves NOW; he's... what.. great? Brilliant. I'd rather cheer for a bad Bills team, than no Bills team. Simple as that.
  8. Considering he's barely getting 15 carries/game, he should look pretty good.
  9. Get rid of 3 DEs and replace them with 1. Brilliant! I assume with your final sentence that you're referring to the cheap contracts Ralph has given our current DEs? It always amuses me that Ralph can be cheap because he won't sign some FA, but in the same post he's paying too much for our players. I have no problem at all going after Peppers; I would just hope the FO does it more sensibly than you suggest.
  10. Yet he's not in the HOF. Talk about an atrocity.
  11. I suspect you've never hunted nor know any hunters; because I don't know a single hunter that would ever shoot a deer and just leave it in the woods.
  12. Vote Early, Vote Often. TD on NFL Total Access just endorsed Leodis.
  13. This is exactly why satellite radio has become so popular. Who would voluntarily listen to that rambling diatribe of a mess?
  14. You can always find another job. But, the Bills cannot be replaced.
  15. I've seen this sentiment quite a bit all over the place, but if we win the next 3 division games we're 3-3 in the division. Had we won the 3 games and were currently 3-0 in the division and then lost the final three we'd still be 3-3. My point is... we're not out, but our backs are against the wall. Should we win out, it should be enough to allow us to catch the Pats* and pass the Fins. With Baltimore having a tough schedule, it's likely they lose a few. Hence, I'd say the 6th seed is very possible. Of course, providing we take care of business which starts with a win against San Fran.
  16. I'd be more than excited to see a good Center drafted or at the least sign a proven FA. However, I would still like to see Preston stay. If you let Fowler go and I assume they would if they bring in a new guy and keep Preston, then you need someone on the team with experience calling the blocking schemes. It really hasn't gotten much talk here, but it's interesting that we lost 4 games, and 5 out of 6, while several linemen were injured and the line was substituting down to down. Not to mention, we switched Centers. For all Fowler's getting bowled over, he was praised for his ability to call the blocking schemes. So, I ask is it a coincidence that the run and pass blocking tanked miserably as soon as he went out and Preston came in? It appears to be improving as Preston gets more experience, but (back to the original point) I think it'd be good to have someone with experience backing up a new guy if they bring someone in.
  17. Exactly. Without hope, why watch the games? Realistically, yes, I think the Bills are a long shot at best to get into the playoffs. But, I try to enjoy every win and hope beyond hope that a dozen different scenarios break our way so that we somehow make the playoffs and get to play another week.
  18. I understand you dislike the FO and all; therefore, I'm wasting my fingers by typing this response. However, what you and so many others that rail on Ralph and the FO do that bugs me is mis-represent the facts to prove your point. You state, "They never replaced him". But, you're wrong. Haven't we had Butler and TD, both traditional GMs since Polian's departure? And currently we have Russ running the FO in a similar vein as the Pats* FO. So, just state you hate all the GMs since Polian. There's no need to fabricate statements and imply we haven't had a GM since Polian. Similarly, you imply that Ralph is unique in that he "meddles" with the way the franchise is run. However, you neglect all the meddling owners of other teams such as the Cowboys, Redskins, Pats*, and Raiders (and that's all that I can think of in my limited knowledge). So, maybe Ralph taking an interest in his franchise isn't such a rarity as you imply? It's kinda like the posters that state we've ignored the lines over the past 3 years, but what they mean is we've just addressed the lines differently than they would like. Whether you draft OL or sign FA Olinemen, you're addressing the line. But, people get upset because we're not drafting Olinemen; therefore, we're ignoring the lines. See the difference? Disagree with the moves, but don't say they're not doing anything. Disagree with the way Russ is running the FO, but don't suggest that he's not performing the duties of a GM, regardless of title.
  19. Kornhole started by saying it's a different feeling from being in Buffalo the week before. Then, after the long touchdown, says well that woke the crowd up. Just now coming back from commercial, they say, sure is quiet. We always seem to lose a heartbreaker on MNF, but you guys that attend... represent!! Thanks to everyone that attends and shows the nation how its done.
  20. I may ask why is he even starting in the first place with such serious medical issues?
  21. I was talking in terms of perceived football speed. I think we can all agree that I think Lynch is fast.
  22. Should we have put Trent on IR after the concussion is the only appropriate question? Apparently, it takes 6-8 months to recover from.
  23. The only hole I can find in the doomsday scenario is why didn't the Mayans foresee the downfall of their own civilization as the doomsday?
  24. If that makes us a bad team, wouldn't that logic imply that all those teams are by default worse than us? So, at least we're not the worst in the league.
